[David Alter] Chris Tanev is on the ice for morning skate. Unlike Saturday, the defenseman is not wearing a non-contact jersey which is a positive sign. He is slated to be evaluated this week.

  4. I hate that Tanev is 95% of our team (net minders excluded), but I love that we might get that 95% back.

  8. Great news that he is progressing, all the fans would love to have him back as soon as he is healthy. He singlehandedly cuts total shots down by like 15-20%

    He had some scary moments on the ice, so I’m happy he is doing good.

  9. Since McCabe and Stecher have been so solid together, maybe we finally get that Rielly-Tanev pairing we have never really tried for any length of time.

    OEL-Carlo on the 3rd pair? Holy smokes all of a sudden the D doesn’t look all that bad at all.

  11. Just need Carlo and Tanev back healthy again. Cannot wait to finally be rid of Myers permanently. Will be honest, ill be upset with Benoit gone. Hes one of the few that plays with passion for that leaf on his chest. Hes just not great at it lol. But Stetcher has been an incredible pick up and clearly the weakest links have gotta go, and for how much we pay Rielly, I doubt theyre gonna healthy scratch him any time soon.

  12. The way he went off was disconcerting. I’m not going to pretend we don’t need him, but we need to be absolutely sure his head is right. We have enough bad juju as it is. 

  14. If Tanev means Myers is sent to the gulag and Benoit is relegated to the press box, this is very good news.

  15. Honestly, I’m scared for this man’s long term health. I’ve never seen a player stretchered off like that (I missed the Tavares situation), and given he had two head hits in a few months, I just worry about his brain and neck tbh. I’d rather he stays out as long as possible. I think the D is ok as is – as long as Myers is not with Benoit.

  16. Don’t need to rush him. Give this man all the time he needs till he feels great enough to take hard hits.

  19. This guy takes an absolute beating every time he’s in the lineup. Why don’t the leafs have a guy to help deter the physical play against them?
