  1. Looks like Rangers really wanted Nimmo. And nimmo had no plans to leave the Mets. What a constantly professional.

  2. I’m only 5min in but this is the most thorough I’ve ever seen a player talk about being traded.

Very sad to see Nimmo go. They just finished renovating their Port St Lucie home.

  3. A subtle dig at Stearns when Nims mentioned “some guys like to call it ‘run prevention’ which is pitching plus defense”. Stearns probably deserved it. He should’ve had better pitchers or better injury prevention last season. It wasn’t all lost on the defensive side.

  4. Never forgotten! He played the game with respect and passion. One of my favorite players and wish we could’ve kept him.

  5. This ruined my day. But I’m trying to see what’s best for us at Mets fans. But man this sucks. Hopefully simien helps us get better.

  6. Love Brandon, always rooting for him, but I think this was the right move for the organization.

  7. Nimmo’s spot on with “pitching + defense”. Who knows though, with Montas gone maybe Stearns can use his 275 IQ to sign another career 5 ERA guy to 15 mil a year

  8. This interview really shows what a special guy Nimmo is. At the end he talks about how he became a plus hitter against lefties by having Rafael Hernandez pitch BP to him as if he was really trying to get him out. I remember when he first came up, nobody thought he was gonna be an everyday player because he wasn’t a top 100 prospect and the Mets had Jay Bruce and Cespedes ahead of him, but talent and work ethic finds a way

  9. Awww man unless the Mets somehow become WS contenders I will have trouble feeling attached to a team losing its heart. Nimmo / McNeil / Alonso are a big part of what makes me love the 2020+ Mets and I am sad to see this chapter closing.

  10. Absolutely no need to have asked him on his daughter’s 1st birthday to be traded. I like to think his tenure has earned him that small bit of respect.

  11. I’ll miss Brandon’s press conferences the most. He was the most insightful, thorough, emotionally intelligent, and soulful person when explaining himself. He always was always optimistic, but it never felt like the standard “We gotta do better” that so many other players give.

  12. Our infield defense just got MUCH BETTER and as long as the next LF is a plus hitter and defender we are ahead on the field w this move not to mention getting free of any financial commitments in three instead of five years. There is a lot more coming this offseason before we can fully rate this move. The core of this team had to change. You can’t go 38-55 to end a season with the highest MLB team payroll and not expect major changes. Stearns comments since the season ended inferred that there were not enough in game coaching adjustments by the coaching staff. Coaching staff gone.
Stearns job is to win games. He did a poor job of that relative to his payroll dollars in ’25. No amount of sentimentality is going to enter into his decision making process when building the ’26 roster. I am good w trusting his ability to build a contender as he knows better than any fan as to how to make that happen.

  13. I could listen to Nimmo being interviewed all day, and I love how open and candid he was about the whole process. Rangers fans better cherish him.

  14. It’s a baseball trade. Both teams got proven players at positions they needed to get better at. Nimmo getting an 8 year deal was dumb at the time but he played well during it. Semien is an upgrade at 2B. McNeill is hurt. Acuna can’t hit. Baty is a 3b.

  15. This goes to show how emotional it is when a team’s FO says ‘yea, we want to trade you.’

No matter how much the player loves the organization or think they are poised to win, they say ‘ok, if you don’t want me then I don’t want you.’

  16. hearing that Nimmo planned to host the team at his newly built home in Port St. Lucie during spring training made me sick to my stomach man

  17. Stearns remark that we weren’t trying to trade you, this just fell in out lap is very disingenuous to me. This has the makings of another Robinson Cano deal where the best of intentions get lost in translation. I’m not seeing the upside for either team, and despite Stearns’ rhetoric it definitely roadblocks guys like Acuna, Mauricio and Jett Williams.

  18. Can’t wait for the rangers to come back to citi so fans can give him the appreciation and love he earned

  19. I love Brandon, and this video shows why.  Humble, intelligent,  articulate and positive.   I have always imagined that he could be a very successful MLB broadcaster when his playing days are over.  Would love to see him on SNY some day.

  20. Brandon Nimmo is a fantastic person, and I would have loved to see him retire as a Met. This trade could be, in the end, good for the Mets. I can hold these two concepts in my mind simultaneously.

  21. I will admit that I wanted Nimmo to be traded, but it still hurts. He’s such a great personality, but I hope this works out for the best for both him and the Mets as an org.

  22. I’ll miss that guy so friken much. He was the most likeable Met of the last decade. He’s always had injuries and he could get streaky but he was always 200% on the field always always and always. He always treated the fans like absolute gold too. He’s one of the few guys who will get a video that I won’t be annoyed by. Much luck to Himmo.

  23. I pride myself for never getting emotional with players as they come and go, but it’s been very hard with Nimmo because I did think when he signed that contract 3 years ago, I thought he would retire as a Met… I never wish any former player to win the WS but for Brandon, I’m hoping he does. He’s a good guy.
