Visiting Pirates fan here!

During the offseason, I'm creating a graph like this for every MLB team. It tracks each franchise's cumulative record relative to .500 (equal wins and losses) throughout their entire history.

The annotations show the franchise's all-time peak, lowest point, and most recent time at exactly .500.

The complete album can be seen here. I also made the NFL and NHL charts (before the current season).

Since moving to Minnesota, the Twins have a record of 5106-5183 (-77 games).

  1. They are the anti-Vikings. Terrible all time record but they have actually won it all before

  2. This is a bullshit graph. The Washington Senators/Nats were considered a terrible franchise for most of its history….

The Washington Senators had an overall win–loss record of 4,223–4,864–101 (.465) during their 60 years in Washington, D.C.

    Chart: “Twins worse than Senators”

    Reality: “Twins better than Senators”

  3. This is cool graph. It’s cumulative. It looks like as the Twins we are only 30 games under.500? So maybe with 3 or 4 good seasons the Twins part could be over?

Edit: no. I misunderstood. The Twins part is more than 30 games under .500

  4. If this isn’t one of the more depressing graphs to start the week to… 🤦🏼‍♂️

Let’s hope Fail-vey gets lost in the stair wells at the winter meetings so he can’t make that number worse than it is going to be.

  5. I’m curious, how far below or the Twins post move only cause it seems like they are slightly below

  6. Damn. The Sens set us up for failure! We have a better win percentage in MN over DC. Still below .500 though.

  7. As a lifelong, diehard Twins fan, this is very sad and depressing to look at.

As a fan of charts and graphs and visualizations of data, this is very cool and you did good work here!

  8. u/Ugluk4242 I love these! I went and looked through your NHL and NFL charts and I absolutely love how in those you include what the team’s logo looked like at the time. Beautiful work.

  9. Based on how annoyed folks are in the comments, this graph was successful. Based on useful information, this graph is unsuccessful
