Some hype for you guys:

"Two sources familiar with the Padres’ discussions said Preller is shooting big.

One source said the Padres are working multiple fronts that could result in deals that rival the massive trade in which they acquired four major leaguers in exchange for Juan Soto and Trent Grisham at the winter meetings two years ago. Another source said Preller’s plans coming to fruition would make the deals he made at the past two trade deadlines pale in comparison."

  4. i don’t really think it matters what the return is, if you trade tatis there’s no way you can sell that to the fanbase

  6. So he’s trading Tatis? I literally can’t imagine what else could rival the Soto trade.

  7. I wonder who these player/players would be. But bigger than any other deal? Well that’s insane lol. 

  8. We don’t have the prospect capital for a big acquisition without dealing from the big league roster. Don’t see it happening.

  9. How are we going to make a deal that rivals the Soto trade when we don’t have a Soto to trade?

  10. Trading tatis would cause the fanbase to riot. Legit no way he does this. Thats legit the only player we have worth this. Maybe Merrill, but both should be untouchable

  11. I’m more concerned than anything after reading that. I don’t think they’re stupid enough to do it, but trading Tatis would probably cause Petco to be burned down in a riot.

  12. It’s interesting they say “payroll”. If we take that literally as in the actual payroll number we could see them add up to ~ $35M in salary – possibly higher if arbitration costs are being overestimated.

    If they mean tax money then we’re screwed but if they literally mean payroll money then we have a good shot at being competitive this winter.

  13. Can you guys blame anyone for ditching the team if they trade Tatis? The most important and most fan loved player traded like he’s some unimportant guy. idk that’s the very definition of betrayal
