Lightning vs. Maple Leafs | NHL Highlights | December 08, 2025

John Tavvaris and Tampa Bay’s Yanni Gore, the
twotime Cup winner, will oppose each other in the center ice draw. Sit back and enjoy Prime
Monday Night Hockey tonight from the 416. Lays it out to center. Love down by a great story.
Now, Steu, he’ll carry in deep in the zone. A little backhander off the pad of Hildabby. Scott
Lton. He brings great elements to the locker room and one is kind of a carefree attitude
and boy the reaction after that goal was priceless. Short-handed boot homeberg a chance for
Jurgensson. He can cause some havoc and here comes that straight ahead hockey that we talked about
from both teams. But this is Tampa as they attack this net. They’re not going to stop. They’re going
to drag this puck through and that puck was still free and that’s why Yanni Gourd went back in there
and that’s the advantage of size right Jody the big man Hillbe. talked about his size, but at
67, you watch his left pad come out. I mean, you don’t need to stretch out too far. A nice
job by him. No surprise. Look at saw Dakota Meris is on the third pairing with Simone Ben
replacing Philip Meyers. Kelly Yarns in the lineup tonight for Trek Bari on the doorstep.
Stopped by Johansson. Densel on the way back. Has it for Tampa Bay through the center ice zone.
JJ Moser kicked along easily by Hildabby. Pencil pinned by McKay. Flung all the way back and out
of the reach of Lillberg. And back out to center ice. Ailmberg for Braden Point. You’ve been off
to a slow start like his team early. Gensel fought off a couple of times by Hildabby and a goal
saving play by Troy Ster in the blue paint. And there was a scramble and this is a big key of
getting pucks to the net. in any game. And right there you can see he can’t reach it now. It’s a
scramble. He actually gets bumped there. But Ster calmly clears that puck. And how about point on
the entry one not really taking risk protecting it. Then he kicked that out. It was him jamming
at the doorstep to undersized guys that battle as hard as you can. Sketcher and point. He’ll play
it along the boards by Matthews. Randis from the point tip and Hildy said no. Off the stick of
Cooerov. Heel turned out again by Dennis Hildy. Hoser takes over. Hegel up top. One-time Cooerov
off the stick of Matthews. Held in. Lightning go to work again. Hegel off a stick. It deflects to
Serelli with Hildy fishing for gets it back up top for Benois. Simone Benois just by Steven Lorent.
Benois penalty it up. Caught by Johansson. He’ll get it back. He’ll play it off a body off Radish
and Tampa Bay will break it out through the logo. It’s Yanni Gourd. He’ll step in, snap one off
and it’s handled by Hildabby. Get it back from Doli Wah off a stick. Eastston Cowen swings it
for Oliver Eman Larson looking for a tip. It’s caught and frozen now by a diving Johansson.
offensive ability throughout his career, but he’s he really seems to be within himself here
as this is all in one motion off the onehanded pickup and then just fired in there trying to get
a rebound or a bounce. That’s great camera work, too. I mean, that puck’s rolling and spinning
at a high rate. Eman Larson over the line now. Moved along. Doi sings a pass cross ice. Reset
by Cowen. Eman Larson. Doi again to the goal mouth. Law in front. It kicks around. It’s
frozen by Johansson Coast. It’s a goalmouth scramble for anybody who wants it. And the
last line comes up with it right there. One by Matthews. Ecman Larson seen all the way
by Johansson. No further play. Moser looking to survive the for check. He does. Long reach there.
Radish in possession. point with a chance out in front kicked out by Hildabby and he’ll cover up.
Tampa Bay Lightning stepped it up the most and shoulder this responsibility. Hedman has just
come back. Dast with a shot swallowed up by Hildabby. Ryan Mcdana with the team skating but
Davaris to the outside read by Victor Hedman to the slot. A one-timer denied by Hilde. Shot taken
by Pontis Holberg. Important piece. Great camera required producer Mark Asin there with his flip
phone. Askin vision just Asen now it’s knocked down by Johansson Matthews Hegel drops it off
for a charging cooer Brandon Hegel shifting gears supported by Nikita Cucharov Radish a big
one-time denied stick save killed the beat Steven Lorent directs one along the boards for a line
change Jake Gel defended with gap control by Benois the jailbreak Tomaris good pass Allen
out in front he’s and he scores. Morgan Riley finishes off. Beautiful play. 334 left in period
one. Toronto off and running. Still line change going on to your left. And here comes Tampa.
They think they’re going to make a break. But Ben with an excellent stick to the heads up
next play. And you can see the speed here. And checking his options as he looks to the
middle. He gets a bounce. It took two second efforts on every one of those plays for that puck
to end up in the back of the net for Riley. Well, how about Riley, too, right? He’s not even an
optim. His forwards didn’t even see him. He was the late guy coming in, but he made sure
he was ahead of the guy supposed to challake, a shot, a tip off the pad of Johansson
through center. Matthews guarded by Paul Riley Mcman Larson rejected by Johansson
and back out. Aaron Radish now greeted there by Max Giov reverse pass that
didn’t work now up the wall. Guerov to the slot denied by Ster. Moser will hunt
it down in the neutral zone. He’s hassled by N. It creates a chance for Matthews.
A drag. A shot turned out by Johansson. How about that backhand tow drag, Jody? Just a
little quick, hey, how are you? Gets one on and Kel will pick it up and move it nicely to JJ
Moser. Aaron Radish hit the line and kick it out. Cerelli with a shot. Snared by Hildy.
Play it along the wall. Borkstrand cut out. Yarn croak wide of Johansson. Steven Lorent
fought off. A big rebound. Oh, mercy. What a stop by Johansson on Kelly Yarnro. There it is.
Right to him in the middle of the ice off the goender. And look at that glove of Johansson.
He found it. Oh, Mercy is right. I mean, you got all that time in the world that probably
better just get it to fumbles it. Broken up by Colin leader to pull up. Tamaris off the goal
post. It wouldn’t go. Tamaris, here it comes. It’s blocked in front. Tampa Bay 16 shots. Same can
be said for Toronto. Now Yorkstrand moved along. Gage Gonzalez with a shot blocker save. Hildabby
back out to center. Emil Liber. Gonzalez with Borkstrand. He’ll drag it to himself. Go. Stopped
and fought off by Hildy. Doy flings it wide. McKe down low. Power move. Matthews. Stopped. frozen
by Johansson. The Leaf captain goes to work hiding and reappearing for a ref. That’s denied
by Johansson. Matthew Nice added down by Austin Matthews legally and Tampa Bay will survive all of
that. Cucharov a shot kicked out with a purpose by as we approach the halfway mark. Prime Monday
Night Hockey here in Toronto. Next week will be in the peg. The Ottawa Senators, the Winnipeg Jets.
Victor Hedmond through center ice. Hermas almost gave it away. The Leafs jump on it. It’s McMahon.
Bobby McMahon storms in. A backhander stopped and frozen by Johansson. They know their role to
a te. And here’s McMahon. He’s a really long stick. And there he’s got some good speed just
trying with Senis Gurgensson who goes to work in the off wing. He’ll steam in this way for Gord
out of the corner. Headman with a shot rejected by Hildy. That pass through the middle is not making
it through. They’re good position and good sticks. McMahon with a shot. Tipped on and denied by
Johansson. Guarov holding on to it. Take it in to the goal line out in front point. Stopped
again. No rebound allowed by Hill to be out of the corner. Reset by the Lightning. Darren Radish.
Fought off by Hildy. And the rebound is controlled by Austin Matthews. He didn’t even flinch though.
Yeah, but he took it right to the jaw. He He got the man right in the jaw with that cross check.
Tampa Bay right in. A chance turned out by Hill to be an excellent bit by Sus Gurgensson. And McMahon
replied with that high stick. Nice converged down by Gore. Doy Matthews out and a piece of that
one. Matthews skate to sticky. And almost the same thing for Ster who slams it out. Twoon one.
Matthews with N. The shot shielded by Johansson. Working their line chase now. The Maple Leafs try
to can’t hold it up. Hegel sends it around for Grarov. One-time Radish the P. A scramble and
it’s frozen by Hildy. Here is Hildy gets set. Radish is at the top. It’s a one time shot and
you can see Hillby just laid on through traffic and might have deflected. Oh, it’s a knuckle puck.
Oh, the pad stack coming in from Ster after two. Hegel was right there. 15 seconds left. Radish chipped
in the zone by point. Handled by Hildy. Played along the boards.
6 seconds left. They grind for it. Good off. It pinballs free. Goes
all the way down. Puts the balls on. Great work along the boards. Austin Matthews
makes it two nothing. Committed it and Hildy puts it on the boards. Look at the support
here. And Matthews just wants to get the puck out. And with 6 seconds left on
the clock, he’s on the board. Yeah, it’s in the end they walk out with practically
a one- nothing win. What a team effort with a great double tending performance. But
that’s the best I’ve seen Toronto taking care of their own ending this season at
least. It’s a step in the right direction.

  1. Leafs seem to have 3 top tier goalies this year. If Edmonton was smart, they'd make a trade for any of the three Leaf goalies, they can get their hands on. Edmonton's lack of top tier goaltending is the only thing holding them back from the cup.
