It still amazes me to this day that we immediately reaped the benefits of that trade by seeing Chris Sale earn his first ever Cy Young and he did it with a tomahawk on his chest.
Chris Sale is a DAWG.
Red Sox GM never doing business with AA again after that fleece lol
“AA sucks” this, “AA is cheap” that, how quickly we forget the absolute fleece job he pulled on the Red Sox
I think the Cy Young cemented that lol
I dunno, they only gave us $17mm in that deal. We still had to pay him like $10mm so I might need to see a little more.
Grissom looks like he put on some weight.
I think Vaughn will do well out there.
AA is the best
We won that trade a long time ago but this is icing on the cake
Never in my life I expected to watch prime Chris Sale pitch for the Atlanta Braves. Let alone win a Cy Young award while doing so.
Daylight robbery doesn’t begin to describe what AA did. Heck, even made the Red Sox pay his salary for a season.
Chris Sale is an absolute dawg. Dude is a competitor and a pleasure to watch.
Grissom being so bad is surprising to me, when he came up he had decent contact and eye and I thought it would translate to being 105ish WRC+ higher OBP type bat with below average fielding.
There will be no Grissom slander around here!
I feel his chances of succeeding were slim in Boston to begin with. They had a glut of positional talent that had higher ceilings than him. He needed to go somewhere that he could have had a year or two to get his feet under him and get adjusted
As if there was any doubt
Did! ⚾️
Tbf to Boston. Sale missed all of 2020 then only started 9 games in 2021 and 2 in 2022 and then looked washed in 2023 and he was 34 at the time. He was missing a lot of games. There was no way of knowing he would bounce back.
