Will Josh Allen keep AFC East title? – ESPN on NFL Week 15: Buffalo Bills vs New England Patriots

narrative was this was supposed to be the Buffalo Bills division. If you’re asking me right now who would I take between the two teams, I would take the New England Patriots. If people did not think this team was for real, they are. I don’t think we can afford to be inconsistent. There’s no time for that right now. So, we got to go. Our backs are against the wall. We want that pressure. It’s the It’s the best time to play football when the stakes are high and you got to go out there and you got to perform. You have an MVP vote. I do. And right now it would be Drake back. [Music] If you want to be the guy, you got to beat the guy. And we welcome in Brian McFad and Emory Hunt for a crucial AFCE showdown that could determine who’s left standing at the top when the regular season’s all said and done. So fellas, who truly has the edge and be back? I do want him to get at the quarterback position because we have last year’s MVP against a potential MVP for this year. But who are you giving the edge to? Yes, Drake May has been outstanding. I think he is the favorite to win the MVP if the award was given out today. But for this question, I cannot turn my back on Josh Allen. I understand Josh Allen might not be quarterbacking the better record in this matchup, right? I understand Josh Allen might not has has the the the the the leeway to win another MVP, but Josh Allen has been outstanding. In 30 in 13 games, he has 34 total touchdowns. 34 total touchdowns. I repeat, in 13 NFL games, only 13. He’s completing around 70% of his passes. He has to put on that Superman cape for them to be in positions to win, but he is okay in doing so. So when you look at what he’s done, especially over the last few weeks, just putting the entire team on his back and delivering in a massive way, I got to go with Josh Allen for this one with the edge. Impassioned, correct, emotional. Here’s the facts. When you look at this question you asked, who has the edge? Quarterbacking is about putting your team in the right position to win, doing your 111. And this is not who has the better talent because you are absolutely right with Josh Allen. is who has the edge in this game. Who’s doing the best playing the quarterback position? I’m going to go Drake May because I love how Drake May this year is connecting on the deep ball. His second chance opportunities is within structure, but he’s being a little bit better than the X’s and O’s, playing above the X’s and O’s. And secondly, uh most importantly, he’s driving his team down to win games and is doing his job the best potential MVP. Who has the edge in this game? trick me. I love this off already on opposite side. So, let’s see how we continue because Emry, I want to go into the running back position. You do have James Cook and Co and Trayvon Henderson and his fellow backs. But which side are you giving the edge to? If Buffalo was able to keep giving the ball to James Cook last year, they would have, in my opinion, a Super Bowl ring already. They forgot he existed against the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game, and that’s how they lost that ball game. If they remember to give him the football, I think this guy along with Ray Davis, along with Ty Johnson, give me the Buffalo Bills, they can run the rock like nobody’s business. And when Cook touches the rock as as a tradition traditional running back, he is likely to get over 100 yards every ball game. This is the edge for Buffalo, the run game. This is easy, easy for me. I’m right I’m right there with Emory. It’s James Cook and he’s been cooking the entire season. A year ago, he was outstanding, right? He had over a thousand yards for the entire season. and he’s already surpassed his 2024 season total when you look at having 1308 currently and he will add on to that number as well. So James Cook along with the company that’s following him in the back field. This is an easy easy answer with this one. The edge is the Buffalo Bills. Okay, let’s stay let’s see if this stays as an easy answer. I want to go to the playmakers and stick with them on offense. Emry, who do you give the who do you give the edge to when we are looking at pass catchers? Pass catchers is key. Patriots because they have it both tight end position and also with the receivers. The receivers are pushing this all the way toward New England. You have Kahan Bouti Bouty who’s had a resurgence this year. Dear Douglas, outstanding guy going deep down the field. You also still have what they have in Stefan Diggs, the former Buffalo Bills. So those receivers are outstanding. I like the tight end position. You have Hunter Henry. You have Austin Hooper. So, this is why Drake May is having an MVP type season because he has tremendous pass catchers along the alongside of him. And if you include the running backs in the passing game is clearly in my opinion a Patri. Yeah, and I’m right there with you. When you talk about the names that Emory just gave us, those guys have been very very consistent. That has been an issue for the Buffalo Bills at the past. You don’t know which wide receiver or pass catcher will emerge for them. I think you have more faith in their tight ends than their wide receivers because they that position has been super inconsistent for the Buffalo Bills. You can’t say the same for the New England Patriots. Yes, they might not have the household names at the wide receiver position, but they have a lot of young upand cominging highle players that have emerged to be consistent, productive players for Drake May. And that’s why they all collectively together has been putting up really, really good numbers. Hey, let’s move on to the O line. Emmery, I’m looking at who’s protecting the quarterback and who’s opening up those running lanes. Which side are you giving the edge to? Buffalo. I I love what Buffalo has up front. It’s the big reason why James Cook has all that success. When you look at Conor McGovern, center, you look at Deion Dawkins, and I mean, there’s only so many great things you can say about the University of Louisiana. They pump out great offensive linement. You have Osiris Torrance, great cornerbacks in Charles Tilman and Ike Taylor. Great kickoff returns in Brian Mitchell. Great CBS Sports H. This is not a promo for Louisiana football. Oh, okay. I I got sidetracked, but we got to look at this offensive line and the interior offensive line spearheads the run game. When they’re healthy, they help Josh. Usually, you know, I was going to get on the road. Yeah, it was. But it’s not a promo for for raging casing football. I’m on the opposite end, though. I’m going with the New England Patriots with them having the edge on the offensive line. And here’s why. When you look at the injuries, granted, they’re missing Will Campbell, right? But the Buffalo Bills, they’re missing Spencer Brown as well, the right tackle. And what we just saw from Buffalo surrendered three sacks to Cincinnati and Trey Hendrickson didn’t play one snap. They had issues protecting their athletic mobile quarterback in Josh Allen. And I don’t want to go back to a few weeks ago with what the Houston Texans did to the Buffalo Bills. That just alone, I know he didn’t want to mention that, but I’m going to bring that back to life for you guys because that alone just kind of puts a bad light on the entire offensive line unit with how bad they played that ball game. So for me, I’ll go with the New England Patriots. Both very valid and fair arguments. And we’re on opposite sides, but let’s see how we are when we go to the defensive side of the ball. So BMAC, we’re looking at that defensive front seven. Which side are you leaning to? Just the front seven. That’s the front seven. The front seven. It’s the New England Patriots. Okay. U granted, they’re missing Milton Williams, but Christian Baltimore has been outstanding. He’s been a stout player, not just in run defense, but rushing the passer as well. You look at Robert Spalain, looking at what he’s done, he’s been phenomenal. a quality three down linebacker. He’s been durable also there. You look at Harold Landry coming from over from the Tennessee Titans. He’s been a big time plus. But what about Kavon Chesant? He’s been the unheralded hero for their front seven with the emergence and what he’s done having round six and a half sacks. They do a great job at getting after opposing offenses and I love what they do against as well. So for me, when you talk about how stout they’ve been against off opposing offenses, rushing attack, I got to go with the pass. Totally agree with you. I even add a little bit more to that. You look at Elijah Ponder, the rookie out of Calpali, fantastic player coming out the FCS ranks. Had a great East West Shrine Bowl and he’s starting to get his selays underneath him because remember with these college players, these rookies, they’re playing 12, 14 games. Now you have to play a 17g game physical NFL schedule. So they brought him along slowly. Just another added passage they have to their disposal. All right. Well, let’s take a step back. We looked at the defensive front seven. So now let’s put a cap on this conversation. And I want to talk about the secondary beback. You’re very familiar with this position, but which side would you be giving the edge to? It’s the Patriots. I mean, when I’m a Christian Gonzalez fan, Gonzo, he’s one of the best quarterbacks in the game. I love he’s an all-around corner. It’s not just about covering for him. He’s great in in in run support as well. Carton Davis has been a big time plus for them. I mean, the moves they’ve made with the cap space they’ve had available, they’ve really hit on every move. They spent their money wisely, and their secondary has been phenomenal. And one thing about them, they don’t allow a lot of splash plays. They keep that roof on that house. They don’t allow anything to get behind coverage in the back end. And I expect to see that same trend follow in this matchup. Shout out to the Berkeley Bears, Cal Bears with their safety play to help keep that roof on the house. You talk about Jaylen Hawkins and also Craig Woodson, the rookie as well. And we can’t forget, you talk about splash plays, they are the ones that make them. Marcus Jones, everything he touches goes back the other way. Great specialist. Great specialist. and also when he is sometimes he gets overmatched when he’s out on the perimeter but he’s someone that is sticky competitive and gets his hands on a lot of passes and once he does that it’s going back the other way so that secondary can not only cover on the outside cover on the inside but those safeties outstanding all right so we’re rolling with the Pats as well in the secondary all right I’m just interested because BMC you’re talking about who has the edge and you were looking at Josh Allen having the edge but you do see the Pats secondary having a stronger unit we’ll see which side gets the edge really briefly am I going to get picks in this Yeah. Are we going to get picked from you? It’s not about me. Ah, people came to hear from you. But nonetheless, fellas, what a turnaround it’s been for the Pats. An 11 and 12 or better season after losing 13 games the year prior. Only other team who’s had such a turnaround was the 1999 Pton Manning led Colts in just his second year in the league. Who else is in their second year, fellas? Drake May, who looks to help keep the packs locking down that one seat in the postseason for the first time since 2017. [Music]

  1. When the schedule makers give like the all time easiest schedule to one team in division, the other team faces a gauntlet of all the best teams literally. . Not exactly equivalent. Allen also has 10 TD more an maye right now. He’s mvp over maye. Maye is good but he’s not the dual threat Allen is and his Wins are against all bad teams except the bills. Meanwhile Josh Allen first QB to beat Burrow, Jackson and Mahomes in one seasons.

  2. One thing about the retarded bills fan the delusional cuz the 5 years window they had in the division they couldn’t even reach 1 sb during they these last 5 year they just mad pats back and they can’t stand it 😂

  3. Josh Allen of course the better qb but pats the better team not even close and they beat them already I might take pats on my weekly picks it will be close tho ima have take time to think about this one along with the packer bronco game

  4. Drake Maye has better coaching, defence, wr’s. Allen has better rb’s, TE’s and oline. And he is 100x better than Drake ‘’cupcake schedule’’ Maye

  5. Bills slept walked through the first game they played and have them 3 turnovers also. Patriots played all out the first game.

Bills won’t be sleep walking this time. Bills will win by double digits.

  6. A chance to make a statement and clinch the AFC East title is pretty good incentive. ,,and maybe the Pats have come up with a few new red zone plays that can work??

  7. Its funny to me that everyone is back on the Bills bandwagon after they beat a JV team in the bengals WHO they were down what 11+ points AT HOME going into the 4th. if it wasnt for Joe Burrow deciding to throw the ball to the other team two times the talk shows would all be talking about the downfall of the bills etc etc.
Playing against a New England defense will be a huge problem for them they have a lockdown secondary and have already shown how good they are at run defense. Buffalo simply does not have the quality receivers to overcome that secondary and if James Cook gets shut down which is very likely then what do they do? Josh cant do it all on his own. Drake may will have his way with that defense just like he did at Buffalo in week 5.
