Miami Dolphins News: Dolphins Get SCREWED By Eagles + Darren Waller Retiring?

[Music] We have a lot of Dolphins news to discuss on today’s edition of Dolphins today. I am Nick Rolloff revolving the playoff chances for Miami which are not very high. We’ll also get into some news about the tight end position. Darren Waller, is he going to go back into retirement following the conclusion of this season? But I officially hate the Philadelphia Eagles. And let’s be real here, this was not new for me. I hated the Eagles going into Monday Night Football. But I put my hatred to the side in hopes that the Eagles help Miami out by defeating the Los Angeles Chargers. But that was not the case. Jaylen Herz, the bum that he is, threw four interceptions. And the Dolphins slim playoff chances got even slimmer last night because the Chargers did get that win improving to nine and four on the year. We’ve talked about it. If Miami wants to make the playoffs, they got to finish 10 and seven this year. And you already have two teams in the wildard race, one win away from 10 wins with four games to go. Meaning, it’s incredibly unlikely, unless we see absolute collapses down the stretch, that Miami can make the postseason. We talked about it that the chances for Miami would have been 23% if the Eagles won and Miami won out, but that was a 12% swing game. The Dolphins playoff chances, if they win out currently, is now at 11 12% round up to 12%. I said it, it could have been 23%. The Eagles really, really screwed us here. Not to say that Miami would have made the playoffs if the Eagles won this game, but would have been a little bit easier. It would have been a little bit more likely, but no, Jaylen Herz had to go throw four interceptions. Jake Elliot had to miss a field goal at the end of the first half. Like, the Eagles just stink. They’re eight and five. You know what? I hope they continue to lose. I hope they lose to the Raiders this week. I hope they miss the playoffs. But we got more to come, including the rooting guide for Miami this week if they want to get back in the playoff good graces. But share this video in former friend grow the channel. Let’s get 20 shares on today’s show. Any share is appreciated. You look at the week 15 rooting guide from Miami. Obviously, the Dolphins need to win against the Steelers. Any loss would officially, but not mathematically, but officially eliminate Dolphins from the playoff contention. The number one result they need this week is the Texans to lose to the Cardinals. You need any 8 and5 team or worse to lose at this point. So the Texans need to lose against the Cardinals. It would be pretty nice if the Patriots beat the Bills. That would hurt the Bills chances as they would fall to nine and five on the year. The Seahawks beating the Indianapolis Colts to drop them to eight and six. That should be something that happens. I feel pretty good about that. Jets also beating the Jaguars would be very helpful, but that that that’s probably not going to happen. Now, if all of that happens, all four of those things happen, plus the Dolphins win, well, the number goes up to 26% if Miami finishes 10 and seven. So, very unlikely still. And it just shows you that you need four right things to happen. And Miami still has a 26% chance to make the playoffs. Not looking good. All right, let’s move over from playoff talks to some actual football here. Darren Waller, is he retiring again? Because Barry Jackson talked to Waller just this past week and it sounds like Waller is unsure if he wants to play in 2026 or at least doesn’t have his mind made up either way right now. Said he’s unsure, but we’ll evaluate at the end of the season and see what he wants to do. Not leaning one way or the other right now. just focusing on enjoying these moments we’ve got. And when you’re talking about Darren Waller, you can’t say anything really that negatively other than the fact that he’s been unable to consistently stay on the football field. I mean, Miami is six and seven. They’ve played 13 games. Waller hasn’t even played half of those games. Obviously, missed the first three games of the year. Came back, played three and a half games, and then went on IR and missed another four. But in the six games that Miami has had Waller on the field, I mean, he’s been incredibly productive. He’s been one of Tua’s favorite targets on third downs and the red zone. I would actually argue when he’s on the field, he is Tua’s favorite target inside the 20 and especially inside the 10 when there’s a crowded area and need to locate someone that can go up and make a contested catch and high point the football. Darren Waller has been able to do that. Had two touchdowns in his return game against the Jets. had a touchdown against the Carolina Panthers and the Los Angeles Chargers. He had four touchdowns in his first three games with the Miami Dolphins. And I’ll be honest, like I would bring Darren Waller back in 2026. Is it one of my priorities? No, absolutely not. But if you’re surveying this tight end room and you’re like, “Okay, we would like to bring another receiving threat back that is going to be relatively cheap.” Well, Waller is that guy. and having him being your number two or number three tight end could be something that I get convinced to do. And we’ll talk more about the future of the tight end room here in a second. But we are sponsored by ethos. The reason why we’re talking so much about the tight end position, not only today, but we’ve really ramped up our discussion on it over the past week and a half, and if our viewers every day might have realized that, but we’re going to continue to bring up the point here on the show that Jaylen Conurs is the only tight end from Miami under contract in 2026. Conjurs was an undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech last year and has not played the game this season because he got put on season ending IR in August during the training camp portion of the season. So, it’s not like there’s a lot of security long-term at this position group. I’ll say this as we talk about the plan at tight end heading into the off season. I’ve been on the Julian Hill needs to go fence for the last year or so, but Hill has really had a better season in 2025. And knowing how Mike McDaniel feels about Julian Hill, if Mike McDaniel is back coaching the Dolphins in 2026, I have a hard time envisioning Julian Hill not being on this roster. Whether it be the tight end three or tight end two, certainly not the tight end one, I think, but he will be on this roster because Mike McDaniel loves his value as a blocker in his system. And Julian Hill knows the system inside and out. And that is a hard scheme to pick up for outside players. So having someone that knows it in that position group would prove probably beneficial for Miami. And he has improved as a blocker. That’s his calling card. He was so bad in 2024. Had me raging every single Sunday. Had me wanting him cut on the spot. But he has been serviceable this season. Yeah, he missed some time, but when he’s been on the field, he has been helpful for this Dolphins game, especially in the last five weeks when Miami has really started to hone in on running the football more. Julian Hill has been a large piece and contributor to the offensive success Miami has had over the last five weeks running the football. So, be the GM for me. Should the Dolphins resign Julian Hill in the off season? Let me know your thoughts on today’s show. Werr for now. But could the Dolphins also resign another tight end? I mean, we mentioned Waller, we mentioned Julian Hill. Maybe this Dolphins tight end room is actually just pretty solid. Greg Doulich, who the Dolphins signed to their practice squad after roster cutdown day when he didn’t make the Giants roster. I was pounding the table, pounding the table, pounding the table for Doulich to be activated, the 53man roster and utilized on Sundays. Well, it didn’t happen until about week eight when Waller was placed on IR. And Doulich since then has been phenomenal. Doulsich has actually played the same amount of games as Darren Waller has played this season. And they both have the same amount of reception. They both have 13 catches. Doulsich has 154 yards. We showcased it earlier. Waller has 177. So Waller has 20 more yards on the same amount of receptions and four more touchdowns compared to Doulich’s zero. But he has been solid in the receiving game. And how about this as well? Against the Jets this past Sunday, Greg Doulich, he was the second leading receiver for Miami. Three catches for 30 yards. Not a ton, but Wadd had five for 50. Doulich had three for 30. And it would have been more. Remember, he caught a screen pass on third and 11 and turned it up field for 25 yardd line or 25 yards down to the two yardd line. That number could have been much higher for Doulich. He’s been good. So, if you’re asking me my plan at the tight end position, we mentioned that I wouldn’t be shocked or I would want to resign all three of these tight ends. Well, you’re probably not going to bring back all three. Let’s just call a spade a spade. But if you resign two of them and it would likely be one of Doulsuch and Waller and then Julian Hill because he’s more of that prototypical blocking tight end. So you bring back two of the three that you have currently on the roster and then you invest that tight end in free agency or in the NFL draft. Well, that sounds like a pretty solid plan at tight end. I mean, you look at some of the free agent tight ends that are going to be available. Well, Darren Waller’s obviously on the list, but you have some solid names on here. Kyle Pittz 25 years old. Isaiah likely 25 years old. Chicka Kakquu 26 years old. Katton 26 years old. Like there are good tight ends that have been productive in this league already, but also some tight ends that have a good blend of athleticism and blocking at a nice age where you can invest three, four years into them and hope that well as they enter their prime, they have their best seasons with you in Miami. Like if you rank the tight end targets in free agency, in my opinion, you saw the eight that we just had on screen, I would have Isaiah likely at number one. We made an entire video about likely last Friday. Go check it out if you haven’t already. But he’s my number one tight end target if you’re looking to invest multi-year in free agency. But I really like Chicka Quanu coming from Tennessee. I like Kate Atten coming from Tampa Bay potentially at age 26. And then you get into the a little bit of the older guys. David and Jooku played for the University of Miami, athletic tight end. He’s 29. And then Noah Fam, who I wanted Miami to assign to a one-year deal before the season started. They brought him in on a visit, but he ultimately went to Cincinnati. I would be interested in bringing him back. But at that point, Darren Waller returning might as well just be a better option. Same thing with Greg Doulich. But if you wanted to take a one in the NFL draft, here are the top eight tight ends early in my big board. Now, this could change based on if players go to the draft or return to the university or transfer, whatever. But Kenyan Sadik out of Oregon is likely going to be a first round pick. But then you get into the day two type of guys. Max Claire from Ohio State, Michael Trigg from Baylor, who I really like. He’s just a massive human being. Or if you want to go with the athleticism route, you go with Eli Sters from Vanderbilt. Also some good options on day three potentially. Joe Royer from Cincinnati, Quavos from Alabama, Justin Jolly from NC State. There’s a lot of decent options at the tight end position in the NFL draft this season. And I keep on bringing this topic up because I truly do believe, yeah, we’re going to talk a lot about edge. We’re going to talk about offensive line and we’re going to talk about quarterback and maybe even some quarterback discussion when we get to the off seasonason on what Miami should do in free agency and in the draft to invest. But you cannot forget about the tight end position. Is it the most valuable in the league? No, it’s not. Is it the most valuable in Mike McDaniel’s offense? No, it is not. But I do think it’s time for the Dolphins to actually invest at the tight end position because they have not done it since Mike McDaniel took over as head coach. Think about what they’ve had. They’ve had Mike Caseeki in 2022, Durham Smith in 2023, and then Johnny Smith in 2024, and then this makeshift group in 2025. They have not had a like continuity at tight end over the last four years. So why not start that in the offseason going forward? 1. JAELAN Philips 5 games with the Eagles has ZERO sacks. As a UM fan, I was skeptical about the Dolphin taking him. He made his name with the Canes because Nesta and other Canes were always getting double teamed.

  2. JARAD PHILLIPS LOST THE GAME FOR THE EAGLES. THE REASON WHY WE GOT RID OF HIM IS BECAUSE HE CANNOT CONTAIN.AND HE GETS THROWN AROUND LIKE A RAGDOLL IN THAT FOURTH QUARTER, WHEN HIS SCALE SET WAS KNEADED, HE GAVE UP THE EDGE AND ALLOWED THE QUARTERBACK TO RUN AND GAIN ALL THOSE YARDS GO BACK AND WATCH THE GAME

  3. @DolphinsNews
I greatly disagree, Brother Rolly, ex-GM Grier, STILL HC McDaniel and ultimately, Ross screwed this team five ways from east. Miami placed themselves in this undesirable position and THAT'S WHY we're NOT getting in this season either. Until Ross hires a REAL GM and a REAL HC, WE'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE!!!!!

  4. Im sorry but waller needs to go, we cant keep having good players that almost never play on the field. It dont matter how good you are if you cant consistently stay on the field then they are useless. It would be in his best interest to retire and we go get another TE. This is part of the reason we don't do good because of injury prone players that we seem to keep signing and think is good for getting to the super bowl or a deep play off run.

  5. Jaelen Hurts is a bum? Really! I think the bum is Tua Tagovailoa! You think the Dolphins should rely on another team to get in a playoff game? c'mon man for what, so that the dolphins are humiliated thanks to Tua! I'm not resonating with your Thinking here, Rollo!

  6. MIAMI screwed MIAMI… all the years they go into like week 15-16 … 2 or 3 games left.. need 1 win to get in… and they dont get it.. this year where they have like a 0% chance.. the fuckers will do it.
