[Music] In today’s NBA gameplay, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers prepare for a highstakes clash with Victor Wanyama and the surging San Antonio Spurs. Los Angeles enters the matchup, sitting second in the West, while San Antonio holds firm at fifth. Will the Lakers take charge early, or can the Spurs force this one into a downto-wire finish? Watch the full video to see how it all unfolds. [Music] [Music] and run the floor. Oh yeah, this pace is going to be incredible. Our heads will literally be on a swivel tonight, uh, Kevin, and we’re going to see a lot of plays in transition and maybe a lot of turnovers as well. Well, we’re buckled in either way. And the starting group for the Spurs up in the front court, it’ll be Vel and Barnes here. Castle is out there with Darren Fox, and it’s Weyama in at the center filling out the middle. Reeves the pass to James dishes to Donic and he gets it to go. Hitting off the back of the rim. Well, he can beat you in a lot of ways. Very challenging to defend. Pass to Barnes. Now here’s Vel. [Applause] Great T that time from James. I mean, come on. That’s a shot you expecting to make. On the wing, Reeds. And it’s going to be out of bounds. The Spurs will take it. And with an update from the sidelines, let’s check in with David Aldridge. Hey Kevin, briefly spoke with JJ Reic and I asked him, “How do you contend with the size and skill of Victor Webmanyama?” He said, “Every night we see this guy do something no one has ever seen before. It’s kind of like dealing with the unknown. A whole new kind of player needs new schemes. So, we’ll see some inventiveness out there on the defensive side tonight, Kevin. All right. Thank you, David. And Wimyama gets it to go. And standing easily over 7 ft. When Wimby gets that ball near the hoop, literally nothing a defender can do. Eighton finds James. Lakers passing it around out to Dunic. Hooked away. Fox with the steel. [Applause] The first quarter of action. Two minutes in. Vel outside connects from three-point range. And what do you expect from Vel? He’s an accurate shooter from the perimeter. And so Donic will bring it up for the Los Angeles Lakers. Six-point game. Pass to Hatchima. Here’s James and stolen by Barnes for the finish. And the dunk by Barnes. Excellent on both ends of that play. Yeah, the steel was short but the slam topped it off. And that is why you want to run off turnovers. Get down the floor before the defense is set. And JJ Reick is called timeout. He wants to regroup and go over the strategy. [Applause] And just under two and 1/2 minutes elapsed here in the first. Pass to Now Reeds over to the wing inside to end the run and it’s missing. Doesn’t register as a block, but he did everything you want defending that shot. Well, you know, sometimes the most pivotal plays don’t always go on the statue. That was quick. Already out to a double- digit lead. Yeah, incredible play on both ends of the floor. There may be too big of a gap here and Aton throws it down. I love the play call. Aiden’s a well-coordinated athlete. You know he has the reach. Give him a chance to go up and get it. Here’s Fox. Loads of expectations come with going number one overall, Stan. We all know that. Just ask DeAndre Hatton. Yeah, Kevin. I think he’s become one of the more underrated players in this league. He was the top pick in 2018. People will always measure him against that standard, but look, he’s averaged a double double every season in the league. It’s not easy to be that consistent. [Applause] And so it’s San Antonio with it. Barnes outside. Back to Fox. That’s his second shot and his second basket. He’s two for two. And what a way to start this game. Dominating at both ends of the floor. Obviously, guys, brilliant coaching, a perfect game plan. And here in the first quarter with a little over three and a half minutes played, Barnes against LeBron. It’s good. He makes his first shot of the game. No question James has the green light from anywhere. That that mid-range is just another area where he’s dangerous. Here’s Fox and two free throws coming up. Unable to get that one to go with all the content. And for De’Aran Fox, his three-point shooting Greg has come a long way. In his rookie season, he only shot 30% on two attempts per game, but his volume and efficiency have both gone way up, and it’s made him much more dangerous offensively. [Applause] He’s off on the first. And I really love Fox’s game. He’s got a ton of room to grow, but boy does he play with intensity. [Applause] He hits the second from the line. So, Greg, the Spurs last year began 15 and 56, but it was the ending that they’re really hanging their head on. They won seven of their last 11 games. And over that closing stretch, Wimby averaged 27 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, and five blocks. A small glimpse into the potential of this young superstar. And just a terrific effort on the offensive glass. That’s how they’re going to cut into this league. And Greg, a dunk like that is sure to give them a spark. They set the pick. A three from Barnes. Again, the miss by the Spurs. And so it’s Hatchima who brings up the ball for the Los Angeles Lakers trailing here by eight. Pass to Donic. And here is Aton [Applause] Reeves with it. Out to Dunic. Just three to shoot. Offline with his three. Not quite enough defense that time around. Just lucky he was off. Here’s Wenyama. A shot that time not on target. Lakers have gone four of seven from the field shooting over 50%. And throws it down. And maybe that’ll trigger them. Impossible not to get pumped up after that. Yeah. Well, you could see the immediate reaction of the guys in the bench. They are pumped up. Hatimura against Vel. outside. Fox fires from deep. Reeves with the rebound. Lakers trail by six. LeBron left side near the three-point line. It’s Donuch. Yes, it’s James picking up the assist. Unselfish basketball. That’s what coaches love to see. Vel with it. We Benyama has screen on Himura. Vel drives in and the added strength coming into play for Vel. Nice job scoring through the contact. Well, Devin Vel has flown under the radar for a long time and passed a lot of fans, coach, but we’ve seen it. He can fill it up. Yeah, Kevin, look, he is an outstanding shooter. He’s got great footwork. He can score at all three levels. He reminds you a bit of Demar D Rozan, but maybe even with more of a three-point shot. [Applause] And that one falls for Vel. You watch Vel, he’s a prototype wing for this era. Has length, skill, and plays both ends of the floor. Hatchima kicks to James. down low and throws it down. Dunking the ball is just second nature to Aiden. With the right positioning, he’s a threat to throw it down. Fox against Smart. Smart with the steel from deep. James. That’s his second shot and his second basket. He’s two for two. Just great anticipation and awareness to come up with the steal and then trigger the fast break. Here’s Barnes. Drops it in from 14 ft away. Barnes has got seven. I’ll tell you what, I’m not sure these guys can keep this up. Well, you expect there to be peaks and valleys, but you’ve got some excellent scores on both sides. And here’s James outside. And another three for the Lakers. And you know, James isn’t thinking twice about that shot. Knows he has the green light to the right side. Barnes outside. Pass to Vel. [Applause] Fox against Smart. Down to five on the shot clock. And Fox gets it to go. And give Fox some love there. the the D wasn’t that bad, but he was just focused on finishing that one. [Applause] Now Smart still yet to score. Eightton sets the pick for Smart. Doubled by Fox. Bounce pass from Smart. Aton finds Reeves and another three for the Lakers. Totally unselfish play there from Aiden. Sends the ball to someone with a wideopen look. So it’s the Spurs now. Here’s Vel. He has six. Cornet passes to Fox. Good work defensively by Smart. Los Angeles has gone three of four on three-pointers in the first quarter. Doing well from long range. Cans it from downtown. Well, maybe not the shot they were looking for there, but the defense gave it to him and he knocked it down. Back to Fox. Spurs working the ball around now. 125 left to play here in the first. And they come right back with their own three-pointer. Fox has got the game tied up here for San Antonio. Pass to Hatchima. Back to James. Now here is Himura to the middle. Breeze gets the bucket. Breeze has got five. And they’ve done well at taking advantage of some late defensive rotations and getting the ball in the paint. Fox feeling it out a bit, driving the lane and he’s fouled pretty hard on that shot, but he’s got the chance to pick up the points at the line. That one on Smart and how about the burst there with the change of pace. Fox is elite at attacking the rim. [Applause] First free throw is good. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] And that’s good as he hits both of his shots. So it’s the Lakers now. There’s 45 seconds left in the first quarter of the game. Kicks it out to James. Hayes with the screen for James. He’s looking for Hayes and Fountains him. Flying high and throwing it down with the one hand. One of his favorite moves right there, guys. Outside Fox once again off the mark by San Antonio. Los Angeles has gone four or five from at running guys to the backboard. You could tell it was part of their game plan coming in. Yeah, we’re not surprised by this. These guys work hard and they are physical. And so it’s Smart who brings up the ball for Los Angeles out there with Smart. Then it’s Jackson Hayes. Then it’s James. And it’s Loravia in at the fourth. That’s the goal for the Lakers to start the second quarter. And you got to respect Lucas passing skills. Just a multi-talented player who is all about sharing the basketball. Harper dishes to Johnson. Here’s Soan trying to come right back with a three of his own, but it’s no good. [Music] James the best to Donic. A Donic very comfortable down low. Once Donic gets inside with the ball, he’s halfway there. Then he just uses his strength to finish the job. Pass to Sohan. [Applause] Harper against Smart. Harper. The pass to Sohan. Clock at four. [Applause] That’s short off the rim. Los Angeles leading by seven. And here is James. He’s guarded by Johnson. James against Johnson to the inside. It’s stolen by Webanyama. And the Spurs pushing it up now. And Harper slams it in. Oh, how about the vision by Webeyama there. Always looking to get teammates involved. Second quarter of basketball. Just over a minute and a half played. [Applause] And here goes Donic. He’s got six to the paint. He’s looking for Hayes and finds him. Throws down the alleyoop slam. Oh, phenomenal alleyoop slam there. They are taking advantage of a team that looks lost out there. So, it’s San Antonio now. Seven-point differential. Shot by Shambi. No good. LA has gone a terrific five of six from beyond the arc in this game. Now here’s Donic. There’s a screen pass to Loravia. Just five to shoot. Here’s Smart. Buries the long range jumper. Smart’s got the lead up to 10 now for Los Angeles. Great. What a great time to be a fan of basketball, not just in the NBA, but all over the world. Absolutely, Kevin. The sport just continues to grow and there’s increased value being placed on allaround skill, even in youth basketball, and I think that bodess well for the future of the game. Harper’s shot good. Matching baskets from the perimeter, an earmark of today’s game. Yeah, sometimes you get in a shootout like this, but you just hope that you can get a stop first. And here’s James outside. Rebound San Antonio. About 3 minutes played so far in this second quarter. Smart against Harper. Remeyam our screen arm Smart. And here’s Harper from the arc. That one no good. And even without that three ball dropping for him, the defense should have done more on that last play. Lava and not going to go. He misses the first attempt on the night. Spurs trail by seven. Pass to Sohan and Benyama outside. The size, the shooting touchyama is unreal. And when Limyama is connecting from deep, he is downright unguardable. This is how special a talent he is. Hayes with the screen for Donic. Here’s James. He’s guarded by Johnson. [Applause] James against Johnson. Goes up from the top of the key. It doesn’t go for him. San Antonio’s gone six of 12 from outside. A very nice 50% mark shooting the three ball well. Andre check in for the Lakers. Austin Reeves comes in for Marcus Smart. Substitution on the court [Applause] in the corner. It’s Wenyama. [Applause] Donic against Harper. forcing his way inside. Guys, you never know what you’ll see when you’re watching Luca Donic. His offensive creativity is through the roof. Spurs trail by six. Here’s Castle. Hasn’t made one yet. Renyama with it. And Wimyama too much inside. So fluid off the bounce. Wimyama. And here is Los Angeles. Now coach, only two players have led the NBA in blocks as a rookie. Man B and our favorite Victor Wimanyama. Well, Kevin Wimyama is already special defensively, not only as a shot blocker, but the amount of ground that he can cover to affect shots. And there are people around the league that believe that he can become the best defender of all time. Great open look there. Barnes has got 10 points. That’s a high percentage look when the D doesn’t fight over the screen. Yeah, it’s certainly worth it to disrupt the offense. Coaches notice that extra effort. Eightton sets the pick for Reeves. [Applause] Lock at six. Pass to Donic. It’s stolen. [Applause] Barnes against Harper. No good. And so Donic will bring it up for Los Angeles. Three-point lead. The three ball from Donic. And it doesn’t take much for Donic to get hot. And And once that happens, boy, he is almost unguardable. [Applause] Barnes against Dayton. And that one’s good. Barnes, he’s got 12. I mean the number of points they’ve scored in the paint already here is eyeoping. Lakers leading by four and JJ Brown calls timeout here. He is going to have a discussion here on the sideline [Applause] and Los Angeles with some changes. James checked in for Jackson Hayes. Hatchimura comes in for James and Marcus Smart is subbed in for Donic. Then for the Spurs, Luke Cornett, he’s checked in for Victor Webyama. Vel comes in for Johnson and Dearan Fox subbed in for Harper. [Applause] James kicks to Himura. shoots over Velima. No good. Yeah, you expect him to make those. Good look. Just couldn’t find the mark. Pass to Castle. Switch. Vel with it. He’s covered by Hatchima. A shake. Fouled in the active shooting. Gets the bucket anyway. So, a three-point play chance for him. And that’s where Dearon Fox thrives. He wants to get inside and finish at the rim. And guys, what do you think about the offensive approach so far that we’ve seen for Los Angeles? Well, they’re in a great flow. The ball’s moving. All those assisted buckets means the offense is running well. And they’ve also been effective from beyond the arc tonight. And if that continues, guys, it can really open up the rest of their offense. Free throw good. Fox Stan, we have so many great players in this NBA. I mean, every night from top to bottom, each roster, there are so many great players. But in your opinion, who is the toughest to game plan against? Wow, that is a tough question because there’s so many of them where there’s no good answers. You know, let’s take Joic for example. If you play him one-on-one, he’s going to score virtually every time. If you come in, double team him, send the second defender, he’s going to make the right pass all the time. There’s no way to absolutely stop him. You just do the best you can to limit their team. The great ones always have answers, don’t they, Stan? If they didn’t, Kevin, they wouldn’t be the great ones. And that’s his strong suit, the ability to find his way through the D and finish at the rim. [Music] Smart finds eight [Music] [Applause] and he could not get that one to go. Lot of contact and he’ll go to the line for two. An absolute beast inside. Love how Aiden uses his size to draw these fouls. Deandre shooting two. [Applause] Free throw drops for Eightton. And you just have to be enticed by the skill set of Aiden. A 7 foot1 behemoth who plays with a lot of physicality and skill on both ends. [Applause] Eighton hits them both and among NBA bigs. He is known for his ability to deliver at the free throw line. Smart against Fox down low. And there’s the second dunk to finish it off. And you just have to have an appreciation how under control Fox plays. I like watching him work the ball through the D in that pick and roll. Pass to Aton. And here’s Reeds outside. Rebounded by the Spurs on the wing. Barnes. 12 points for him. Two free throws coming up and they call the shooting foul. Wow. Wow. He got whacked on that one. Shouldn’t be much debate there. The Spurs shooting their seventh and eighth attempts at the foul line tonight. Harrison [Applause] [Applause] And it’s tied up with that one. And it’s been an outstanding game for them at the free throw line. Not missing their chances when they get them. Some changes for the Lakers. Jackson A’s. He’s checked in for DeAndre Aton and James subbed in for Marcus Smart. [Applause] And that one falls. And that puts him up by one point. Los Angeles has gone seven of 10 shooting from three-point land tonight. Excellent numbers from outside. James looking it over back to Reeves and he takes the fantastic lead pass up strong for the slam. And the passing instincts of James are just unreal. He has that great sense for when and where to send the ball. Pass to Cornet. [Applause] Fox against Reeves. Fox passes to Vel. Lobed up there for Barnes. And the dunk by Barnes. And you could see him give a little nod and then just burst to the rim for the alioop slam. A pair of teammates, Greg, with a terrific feel for each other. Here’s Reeves. He has seven now. James. Reeves with it. Some nice passing here by Los Angeles. To the middle. Fox with the steel. LeBron against Barnes. a pass to Fox, fires the three, drills it from outside. Now it’s a four-point Spurs lead. I think it’s fair to say that Fox is in the zone right now. An exciting player to watch. I just love seeing how he can take over a game with his aggressiveness. Things really clicking for him at the offensive end. They’re making good decisions. not wasting these opportunities [Music] for the three plus a shot missing and some good action through the first two points. It’s been one outstanding game from De’aran Fox. His play so far is what fans love about him. He he has gone right at the defense time and time again. Yeah, he hasn’t been settling. He’s getting to the rim and that’s him at his best. Lakers trail by four. On the court for San Antonio. Top of the front court. It’ll be Vel and Barnes. Fox is out there with Castle and it’s Wemama in at the five spot. Donic against Fox. Shot clock at five. Three-pointer and it’s Donic missing. Spurs leading by four. Here’s Vel. It’s hauled in by Los Angeles. Aim got his fourth rebound with that last one here tonight. Getting the latest now from our sideline reporter, David Aldridge. David, it’s all yours. Take it away, Kevin. Thank you very much. LeBron James is still dominating at an age where most players are well into their retirement. How does he do it? He said, “Show up, put the work in, and then go out and trust it. I’m just trying to push the limit. See how far I can take this thing. It’s me versus Father Time.” Kevin, back to you. And David, that’s one you’re always going to win against Father Time. Hey, thank you for the report. And Fox gets it to go. And that quick shot by Fox is something, you know, he has worked on religiously. Nice finish. And here in the second half of play, we’re just over a minute in. Reeves outside. In the corner, it’s James. Back to Reeves. Donic. Kicks to LeBron. The shots good on the assist by Donic. Jinch has got five assists in the game. Both teams running perimeter oriented plays that are working. Well, you know, it’s become a three-point shooting league. Teams shooting a steady diet from outside. And sometimes Fox just can’t be contained. I mean, he plays with so much heart and passion and terrific at scoring even when he gets bodied up. And we’re seeing some big paydays for NBA head coaches these days, Stan. Uh, do you miss it? Do I miss the paychecks? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Payday was always really good in the NBA. No question about that. What about now though? What about now? Well, it’s gone through the roof. But look, the tradeoff is the paydays are big, but there’s not a great deal of job security, Kevin. Over a minute and a half into the third quarter of action. Fox against Donic. And they double up. Donic. James. The pass to Donic. Five to shoot. Pass to Aton. And they’ll turn it over. Could not get off a shot before second violation. [Applause] Spurs leading by five. Fox passes to Webanyama. And he’s not the biggest guy, but Vel can get up there when he needs to. The Lakers with the ball [Music] now. Reeds. Seven points in the game. And oh boy, a lot of contact there, but he gets the call and will shoot two. Then one on Castle. This is his first trip to the line tonight. And a very steady season for him at the charity strike last year. He was right at 85%. Taking two shots. The first one falls. [Applause] And Reed drops them both. We expect nothing less. He’s generally been very good at the line. Pass to Castle. [Applause] It’s Vel on the wing. He’s covered by Hatchima. Barnes can’t get it to go. And so it’s Hatchima who brings up the ball for the Lakers trailing by five. James with it. Shoots the three. Renyama with the rebound. And he didn’t punish them for the weak coverage there, but they can’t count on him to continue missing. Fox no good. The Lakers have gone two of four here to start the second half. Fox with the steel. Here’s Vel. Boom. He jams it straight down. Yeah, instinctively too. Fox there looking to be a ball mover, a facilitator. LA has gone one of three from downtown since halftime. Donic dishes to Eightton and Aton gets double team. Donic. Donic showing his strength. And you got to love the big bucket in the paint in this sort of a grinded out game. Spurs leading by five. Outside Fox. Here’s Vel. Good. And a nice assist from Fox. Fox has got his fourth assist with that last one here tonight. Here’s Reeves. He’s got nine. [Music] pass to Donic. Eight in a screen on Fox. [Music] Now here is Hatchima. Covered by Vel and that’s out of bounds. It was last touch by Vel. Great energy on the deflection and a good job disrupting their offense. Yeah, there’s nothing easy on offense. Coaches love seeing that kind of hustle on the defensive end. Six to shoot. The three for Donic. Drills the three-pointer. Donic has got seven points for the quarter. And the defense has to be aggressive with Luca from range. Give him any space and he is looking to pull Benyama against Benyama throws it down. And we talk about how Wimpyama makes the wow plays. Wow. And the Lakers with possession here. Six-point game. R some have argued that Webyama deserved defensive player of the year consideration in his rookie year. And Kevin, I could see where they’re coming from. His team went from a bottom five defense to a top five defense when he was on the floor. His impact is amazing. [Applause] And here is Fox. He’s got 25. Vel outside. Here’s Castle. He’s defended by Reeds. The three. cracks in the tray. Castle’s got himself on the board with three there. And that pick takes the D totally out of the equation. Yeah, you’ve got to lock and trail hard. You can’t allow him a clean look from that. Aimura with a screen on Fox. And here’s Tic from the arc. Vel grabs the board. Vel’s got his fourth rebound with that last one here tonight. And stolen by James. The turnaround jumper and the shot is good. The Spurs lead has been cut to just five on the basket from Don. Oh, nice touch on Lucas mid-range there. The product of a lot of practice time and natural talent. The Spurs have gone seven of 10 on their field goal attempts here in the third. Fox kicks to Barnes. Here’s Castle off the mark there with the three-point shot for Los Angeles. They’ve gone six and nine from the floor here in the second half. They’ve got to be happy with that. Reeves right side pass to Hatchima on the wing. James from the arc. Hatchima no good. San Antonio leading by five. It’s Vel with the drive. And then is Vel tough to guard. So good at using that length to get the call. And a chance for just a second to check out the scoring breakdown for San Antonio. Well, you’ve got to like that they’re not settling. They’re attacking the defense on the drive and creating great looks. And also, guys, the confidence to keep taking the three. It’s been falling, so they’ve got to keep going back to it. No good on that one. Los Angeles making a switch here. James has checked in. [Applause] and he’s good on the second. Lakers trail by six. LeBron outside. Back to James. Aton sets the pick for James. It’s stolen by Remyama. [Applause] Here’s Vel. That shot misses. Great D that time from James. Los Angeles has gone a less than productive two of six from three-point land in the second half. And the whistle blows. It’s going to be on Luca Donic. That’s his third foul of the game. And some changes here for the Lakers. Jackson Hayes comes in for DeAndre Aton and Smart subbed in for Luca Donic. San Antonio also making some changes. Luke Cornet, he’s checked in for Victor Webbyama. Jeremy Sohan comes in for Harrison Barnes and Kelvin Johnson subbed in for Vel and the basket by Castle. Castle’s got five points in the quarter. Well, it doesn’t get any easier than this. They’ll take these shots every time. Now here’s Smart. He’s got nine. [Music] Pass to Hayes. And now the fast break. Fox with the ball. Great D that time from LeBron. And here’s James. He’ll bring it up for the Lakers. He’s looking for Hayes and finds him up high to stuff the alley. And hard to decide which is better, the pass, the catch, or the slam. There’s no wrong answer. Sensational alley. Spurs leading by six. Fox passes to Cornet. Back to Fox. Over. Smart. Fox. No good. Lakers have gone seven of 11. a lucky field goal percentage here in the third and foul on the shot. So, he’ll get a chance at the line. And with the offense getting right to the rim, at least they saved the layup. The Lakers have in all four of their chances so far in this one. Yeah. A year ago though, Kevin, 78% conversion rate from the free throw line. So, that’s a nice allaround effort. [Applause] Free throw good. James Vincent’s checked in for Austin Reeds. And San Antonio also making a switch. Champenny’s checked in. [Applause] So he gets them both. Spurs leading by four outside Fox. Another miss by Fox. LA has run a less than productive two of six from three-point land in the second half. Smart kicks to LeBron. Nice ball movement here by the Lakers. Here’s James. And James throws it down hard. And guys, I don’t know that this is the time for that kind of flare in a close game. The important thing is to get the two points, not necessarily the dramatic. Oh, come on. He had to go for that, didn’t he? My goodness. [Applause] Knocks it loose. [Applause] Fox with it. He’s got 25. [Applause] buries it down low. Fox has got eight points here in this quarter. He is a blur. I mean, Fox obviously skilled at breaking down the defense coupled with his athleticism and size. Boy, he is a terror. Lakers trail by four. Outside, Smart shoots over Fox. It’s hauled in by Cornet. Spurs shooting it quite well in this third quarter. 53% and the offense is rolling. James driving Smart. Back to LeBron. James. The pass to Smart. 30 seconds left in the third quarter. Six on the shot clock. Vincent’s shot is good. Will those go down for him in his sleep? Spurs shooting 59% up to this point. They’re working for great shots and they’re hitting them. 16 seconds left here in the third quarter now. Fox, he’s got 27. Lets it go with a three. Cuz I mean, what great communication between them and what a beautiful feed. Well, it’s one of the core parts of the game, reading the defense and creating an easy bucket for your teammate. That is pretty. And it’s been a very competitive game so far as we get rolling here in quarter number four. Marcus Smart is out there with Luca Donic. Then it’s James. Then it’s Jackson Hayes and it’s Lorabia in at the force. That’s the Laker five. Johnson can’t hit. Lakers trail by four. He lobbs it up and Hayes throws it down. Man, how about the incredible timing on that alley? He absolutely hammered it down. Hayes has gone four for four from the field. Perfect so far. Renyama looking it over. the rebound by the Lakers. Here’s Lorravia. Pass to Smart. Here’s Laorabia. Donic outside to take the lead. Good. And the assist goes to James. Donic has got 12 points in just the second half. And Donic used to creating kind of a luxury for him to simply catch and shoot Harper against Smart. Now Shan to the wing right side. A three from Wyama gets it to drop and now he’s shooting at a five for eight clip. And I like when Wanyyama is aggressive on offense because defenses feel helpless to stop it. to the inside and Hayes throws it down. Oh, he he went for the two-hander on the slam. Using some muscle, some urgency from him there. Sure. The Spurs have gone one of three from the field to start the fourth quarter. Inside, taken away by Hayes. James with it. And it’s Johnson picking him up. The three for Donic. And again, it’s the Lakers from deep. And guys, let’s get your take on the hustle stats for Los Angeles. Well, they’ve shown just outstanding effort defensively and it’s resulted in several forced turnovers and I’ll tell you the energy they’ve shown in the open floor. Boy, it has been terrific doing a phenomenal job converting in those situations. [Applause] Harper the pass to Webinama. Well, Greg, I’m sure their coach is very pleased with their offensive flow right now. I mean, it’s harder than it looks to get it going like this. All they just have to maintain it. And you don’t want to allow too many of those short ones with the game right now in the balance. And the Lakers making a change here. Reeves is checked in. Spurs also with the sub. Castles checked in. miss. [Applause] And some of what Smart gives this team doesn’t always show up in the stat sheet, but but he makes plays that help you win. And Benyama side pass to Soan. That one’s off. Still out of sink. Lakers lead by six. Around three minutes gone here in the fourth quarter. Harper against Smart on the wing. Donic over Johnson and it’s Donic missing. Spurs trail by six. Johnson outside. Back to Wemama. Pass to Johnson. Webyama sets a screen for Johnson. He rifled that one in from distance. Johnson’s got his first three points of the game. You know, some guys who rely on their strength aren’t great shooters. Johnson, though, is in a different category. And here is Donic. tried to answer back, but that three is off the mark. Here’s Castle. Puts it in off the nasty crossover. And now just a one-point Laker lead. And that’s right in his wheelhouse looking to make an impact when it counts. Well, you know, this is when they lean on him and he delivers with a much needed score. Lakers have gone five of seven from the field since the beginning of the fourth. Strong work at that end of the floor. [Applause] It’s stolen by Johnson. [Applause] Floats it up for Winyama. Taken away by Hayes. Here’s Donic. Two points. That one goes. Donic has got eight points here in this quarter. Yeah, he’s in such a great rhythm right now. Makes sense to get him the ball any way you can. Yeah, when you have a guy playing like he has been recently, he’s got to be the first option on every possession. Pass to Johnsonyama with the aggressive finish. Watch out for Wimyama hammering that one home. Lakers have gone six of eight from the field in the fourth so far. It’s been a great start to this final quarter for them. And here’s Cosic from the arc. Rebounded by the Spurs. Remember Benyama has got six rebounds in the game to the middle to take the lead and the layup is good. So got his first two points of the night, guys. What a game. Eight lead changes here. And don’t be surprised if it comes down to the last possession. The Lakers trail [Music] [Applause] outside. Smart. Hayes dishes to Smart. Donic against Johnson and the double up. Donic. Arabia. The shots good on the assist by Donic. Donic has got assist number eight here in this one already. [Applause] San Antonio’s gone two of three in the fourth quarter from long range. Good shooting so far. Time out, Spurs. [Applause] A different look now for San Antonio. Barnes, he’s checked in for Jeremy. So, Vel comes in for Johnson and De’Aran Fox subbed in for Harper. And now we’ve got some time to check in from the sidelines. You got for us, Da? Thanks, guys. I was able to hear the Spurs head coach go over the game plan during the timeout. Now, with the game in the balance, he had some encouraging words for his team. He said, “This is what we wanted. We thought if we kept it close, we could pull it out. Now, let’s go out there and do just that.” Back to you guys. Thank you, David. Shoots it. Castle misses. Well, when they’re playing off you, you have to make them pay. And he could. James the best to Reeves. Back to James. Fox against Donic. Good on the three-point shot. Now it’s a four-point Laker lead. And he’s such a polished shooter. You can’t give Donic these kinds of opportunities or he’s going to burn you. for San Antonio. They’ve gone five for nine from the field in the final quarter so far. Outside Fox Beyama sets a screen for Fox. Donic grabs the miss. Donic has got six rebounds in the game. Balls not loose. In transition, here come the Spurs and it’s Fox with the jam. Boy, Fox is so quick off the floor. [Applause] And Reeves has got the ball here for Los Angeles. They’ve led by as much as 10. And a fast break now for the Spurs. Here’s Castle. And the powerful one-handed slam. And that’s one of Fox’s strengths, trying to involve his teammates first. A really good passer who wants to play for his guys. [Applause] Lakers have gone eight of 11 from the field in the final period. Great shooting down the stretch. Back to Dunic. Eighton missed. Green lets it fly. And that one clearly a foul. Gets the whistle and two shots coming up. That one on Castle and at 7 foot one and 250 lbs. Aiden is a handful. Not easy trying to guard him without fouling. At the line for Los Angeles. Two shots. [Applause] He misses the free throw. [Applause] [Applause] And he sinks the second. They’re ahead, but if they don’t get a stop here, that free throw could prove critical. Up top Fox guarded by Donic. Fox kicks to Vel pass to Wemama and Wanyama throws it down. And this kid is tough. Wyama just powering it in despite the contact. First team shooting for San Antonio for one. What’s up? He throw good when Benyama a generational talent for winyama. The sky is the limit and the reality. James with it and it’s Vel picking him up. Aimura with us. Reanon Fox. And here’s Donic from the Artha from three-point land. Donic has got 36. Well, we talk about ice in his veins a lot. But this guy personifies that. What a out of the Raptors. He punched it in. Are you kidding me? And a monster game for Wimby with the matchup issues he creates. I’m not sure anyone in this league can stop him when he’s on. LA’s gone 46 from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter so far [Music] on the wing. Reeds covered by Vil. Here’s Donic. Rebound San Antonio. Barnes kicks to Fox. Pass to Wim Binyama and Whim Benama throws it down. Oh, just solid on the one-handed slam. And guys, when it’s a tight ball game like this, he’s the guy they want with the ball. Now, here’s Donic. Oh, in position. An infant Lu jam. And the allaround offensive game Aiden has is just fantastic. Capable of scoring in many different ways. There’s 126 left in the fourth quarter. Fox passes to Webyama to the left wing. Barnes outside pass to Wim Benyama. Five on the clock over Eaten. Grand Benyama deadly inside. He’s creating good looks and shooting very efficiently. Reeves outside. Here’s Donic. Money. And that shot brings them to within just one. That is world class. Yeah. And I can say from experience, his coach just breathed a huge sigh of relief. There’s 49 seconds left here in the fourth quarter. We can probably expect to see him slow it down now. Yeah, I think you want to milk your possessions. Unloads from nine. Good. But you love the unselfishness. Makes the next pass and enables his team to capitalize on the possession. And JJ Reick calls timeout here. The magnitude at this juncture in the game clearly warranting a timeout. Any ideas on strategy being discussed right now in that huddle? Hey, they do have enough time here if they shoot quickly to get the two for one. We’ll see if they try it. [Applause] 35 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Outside the three rebounded by the Spurs. They’ve led by as many as 11 points and now they decide to foul intentionally. [Applause] And they go to the intentional foul. Honestly, just doing what they have to in order to get the basketball back. [Applause] So, the first one drops and that gives them a four-point cushion. [Applause] And a tough break is a second attempt at the line. No good. And looking for a very quick shot here. And then foul. trying to extend that game. The three for Dunic will play his role to perfection, using his size to control the glass for his team. His fourth personal foul, the fourth team foul at the line for the Spurs. Wimama taking two shots. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. [Applause] He hits the first one and that puts them up by five. And so both free throws are good and it’s a six-point ball game. And you can wrap this one up. Great job to stay cool at the line and finish it off. And the Lakers call time here. They trail by six. Turning here to our analysts. What bankers guys come to your mind? They need a quick basket here. Yeah, and if they can get a decent look from three, that’s the shot to take. Not a lot of time to work with. [Applause] [Applause] 11 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Knocks down the trifecta. Well, you love a quick three points off the inbounds. That’s about as good as it gets from out of bounds. And now they foul and stop the clock. [Applause] And he misses the first one. Boy, he wanted that one to fall. That’s good. Going one or two from the line and that gives them a four-point cushion. LeBron outside from downtown. Yes. And what a sensational bucket to bring them within one. Well, when you move the ball, you open up the defense. Great job to make the unselfish play. Timeout Spurs. [Applause] And they stop the clock as soon as they can with the intentional foul. [Applause] [Applause] He drops the first one and that will put them up by two. [Applause] So he gets them both and it’s a three-point game. That was a giant trip to the line. And so it’s San Antonio who straight by with the win. This win such a tremendous emotional boost for him.
