Leafs make MULTIPLE moves… SURPRISING Updates | Toronto Maple Leafs News

We have some breaking news. The Toronto Maple Leafs have made multiple moves. And following what was a very impressive win against the Lightning, not only has Craig Bubé made multiple line changes, but Brad Shiv has called up a new defense. I’m going to break down exactly what these moves are and discuss what it means going forward, as well as a bunch of updates, including one surrounding Chris Tanv that changes everything for this defensive group. A ton to go over on this episode, folks. Before we get into it all, if you’re a part of the percentage who aren’t subscribed to the channel, this is the place to be for daily Leafs content, folks. A lot to go over today. And obviously Darius are coming off a big win. There’s a lot of things happening within the division right now, but most importantly, there is a uh there’s a couple moves that have been made. And let’s start with the move here. The Maple Leafs have placed Dakota Mermis on the IIL with a lower body injury, but that is retroactive to a couple days ago on December 8th. And defenseman Henry Thron has been recalled before the game on uh on Thursday, so tomorrow, against his former team against the San Jose Sharks. Darius, before we dive into a ton of updates in this video, Henry Thron, a move that we expected to happen for a while, though they went with Dakota Mermis initially first, of course, when injury started to happen. He is now up and I’m actually pretty excited for this. He’s a very, very I’m I’m excited to see what he can do. And of course, he was acquired in the Ryan Reeves trade just a a while ago. Yeah. And Dakota Murmuris getting that knee on knee the other night that warranted no suspension or any discipline from the NHL. And I know a lot of people have been talking about that, but hopefully he’s okay. And the fact that he’s on the IR and it’s retroactive to December 8th is maybe better news than going on LTIR. I don’t know. I hope he’s okay and I hope he’s back soon. But Henry Thun, I’m very excited like you said for this. I watched them play live on Saturday. I was at the Marley’s game and they were playing a 19 and1 Grand Rapids Griffins team and he looked great. He was quarterback in the power play. He looked cool, calm, composed, and poised. Uh he’s going to be in this lineup on Thursday. He’s going to play and the reason I believe that is we’re going to get to the lines in a second. There’s something with the lines that makes me believe he is going to factor into the lineup and it’s his former team. He was traded from the San Jose Sharks and they’re playing the San Jose Sharks. So, he is going to factor into the lineup and I’m super excited about that to see what he has in the tank at the NHL level because he he was playing with the Sharks at the NHL level before and he looked really good, super solid to me on Saturday. Yeah. And obviously at this point they are trying to find answers uh defensively with the injuries that have happened. Dakota Mermis and of course Troy Stetcher. season was their biggest I guess acquisition thus far you could argue of the season though it was on the waiverss waverwire from the Edmonton Oilers but not only that we have a few other updates to go over as well but quickly let us know down below what your thoughts are on this we do expect him to factor in tomorrow because like you mentioned it is against his former team so a bit of of a revenge game if you want to call it that whatever way you kind of see it here we’ll dive into the lines as well I think there’s a chance that like Troy Stchure if Henry Thun performs really well there are still openings especially with the update we have to Chris Tanip that Henry Thun can take advantage of. But let’s dive into some more things. And defenseman Morgan Riley, he will not participate in today’s practice. We have a bit of an update on him. We’re unsure at this point. Of course, again, it’s just an illness, so probably won’t keep him out a ton of time. I’d expect him to most likely play tomorrow. But speaking of playing tomorrow, Tvarz and Neander were both in different color sweaters as Leaf’s practice starts. As Knander, as we mentioned in our video there, I think yesterday, he’s now gone four games without a point. So, he has been on a bit of a cold spell. Now, a lot of the guys in the top six have been playing better. Even Eastan Cowan getting, you know, moved around a little bit is playing good. But you look at kind of the way things are are lining up for tomorrow’s game and at today’s practice, you have Nas Matthews, doy. So they’re sticking with that line. But you now have Cowan Tvar Robertson. So you’re putting Knander down to the third line with Joshua and W some more veterans down there as well. And Cowan staying in the second line. And then Laurance or Laurance Lorent Lton and Yarnro with McMahon and Machelli out. Of course, uh, Calli’s in because McMahon is suspended, like you covered in yesterday’s video, but they’re keeping Matias Machelli out even with another not injury, but another suspension here. Things are uh things are interesting. I I mean, I don’t know if they’re ever going to play Machelli again at this point. Yeah, Machelli on the outside looking in again. Very interesting. If you are a betting person, if you like to place bets, place a bet tomorrow night on Nick Robertson scoring a goal. He was just scratched and now he’s getting an opportunity in the top six. And like you saw before, Knander wearing bottom six white at practice. He is going to be on the third line with Wah and Joshua to open up the game tomorrow. So he hasn’t scored or four games without a single point. So a bit of a wakeup call from the coach. Sometimes these things happen. I don’t think he’s necessarily played poorly, but you got to get the guy going a little bit. So hopefully this gets his feet moving. I think that’s a very interesting storyline heading into tomorrow night’s game. Him on the third line. Of course, he’s still going to get power play time and all that. And if you look at the uh the lines as well, you know, Chris Tanniv back on the ice. He is still wearing red, but he’s going to be evaluated. I believe they said today it was supposed to be Wednesday. So, we’ll get uh an update on him in pretty short order as well. And we also have an update, we’ll get to that in a second, on his health and what the actual injury was or a little bit more insight from Nick Hippio, and I want to get into that, too. But very interesting here that Machelli, like you said, he might never play again. You have McMahon over him. The only reason McMahon’s not playing is because he’s suspended, of course, and McMahon’s going to come back into the lineup on Saturday. notoriously always good against the Edmonton Oilers. So, pretty interesting lineup heading into tomorrow. And if you take a look, Myers is filling in for Riley who is sick. That means Thrron will be in the lineup. He’s not a placeholder. He is factored into the lineup over Dakota Murmis who is on the IR. So, he will be playing in the lineup and I’m very excited to watch tomorrow. Yeah, you have Hill to be of course Tiamad, but Joseph Wall was back at practice today as well and he’s expected to be back over the next week or so. But again, I wouldn’t be surprised if I mean, assuming that Hillby continues what he’s doing, they split time together, Joseph Wall and Dennis Hillby, but they both been some of the best goalies in the NHL save percentage-wise and other stats-wise. And Scott Lton, you can see here even in the morning skate. Obviously, we saw his insane slap shot the other night against the uh, you know, a couple games ago. He is looking really good. And that’s kind of an underlying storyline here. As you see him, of course, he’s manning that fourth line, but he’s been looking extremely extremely comfortable. He had a bit of a goal scoring streak there. It’s really encouraging. And then of course, like you mentioned, Chris Tanv, he is taking part in the league’s practice, but the update on him is a little bit murky at this point. We’ll have a full update of course probably tomorrow. But Tanv and the team, this is from Nick Ciprios, are deciding this week whether he should have structural surgery that could help him return with the hope he’d be back before the end of the season. And includes consulting specialists reviewing how his symptoms have progressed since the injury. And the concern with Tanv is taking another hit like he did and making it worse. The team wants to ensure that whatever approach he chooses properly addresses both long-term and short-term sites. It seems that he actually isn’t going to be at least returning immediately or anytime super soon. Of course, at this point, they’re deciding between surgery, between letting him heal. And of course, their worry is he goes back out there, they clear him too early, he gets hit again, especially in a physical league at this point with everything that’s happening. And then he gets injured again and he’d be out for a year, year and a half. That would obviously be the worst case scenario. But pretty big update for Nick Ciprios. But the weird part is despite this, he’s still skating almost every day now. The third straight day in a no contact sweater now. So, it’s uh it’s interesting there. Yeah, it looks like it’s an injury that has stabilized to the point that he can skate, but they’re worried about him taking another hit similar to the one he took in Philly and making it worse. And, you know, I thought at the time I was like, I’m not so sure this is a concussion cuz he did have a concussion earlier this year and he came back in that game and got injured again. And I I was wondering if he like broke a vertebrae or something. I didn’t want to put it out there because this is all speculation and we know what happens with speculation sometimes, but I was wondering about that. And then Kipio has to come out and say this and compare it to Jake Muzin who had the same type of injury years ago when his career ended. Uh now I’m thinking it is maybe something like that, something with his spine, right? So again, I’m just speculating on that. I think it’s interesting and it also sounds like if he does play, they’re worried about if he plays and takes a similar hit, he will be out for a long and extended period of time and that would of course be a worst case scenario. So, they’re discussing right now if he’s going for surgery or not. That’s the talk right now. Uh, of course, he’s supposed to be evaluated. We were told Wednesday, so I don’t know if it’s happened at this point, and we’ll get an update on that, but I think they’re, you know, trying to figure out if he has to go get surgery. If he does, he should be okay. It’s something that would stabilize and he will be fine to continue playing, but he would be out until the end of the season. He would only return either right before the playoffs or for the playoffs, which has a huge impact on the team, of course. So, uh, that’s kind of what they’re trying to figure out right now. That’s the update, but Nick Hippio did compare it to Jake Muzin, which has me a little bit concerned. So, we’ll see what ultimately happens there, but I think there’s a real possibility at this point in time, we get an update tomorrow that Chris Tanov might be getting surgery and he’ll be okay after, but he might be out the the rest of this season. Yeah, let us know down below your thoughts on that. Not a great update, but at the same time, as long as he can get good for the uh the playoffs, that’s the number one priority. And obviously, like you mentioned here, like I mentioned, Joseph Wall, he’ll be returning very, very soon. This is the first time we’ve seen him in six days. So, that folks, that’ll wrap it up. Listen up below where your thoughts are.

  1. Can't wait to see the new acquired D finally get a nhl game. And against his own team, that's going to be fun. Tanev just needs to do whatever it takes to be 100%. I rather the team tough out the season and get him way later on. I hope Woll returns soon but at least the whole team is starting to play better.

  2. Hard to believe that Nylander is going to be on the checking line as always Go Leafs Go from Timmins Ontario Canada Awesome job Guys 🙂🏒🥅🎙️🍁🇨🇦
