The Sabres held the lead through the second, with Tage Thompson and Doan notching two more for a 3-0 lead. Connor McDavid got the Oilers on the board early in the third, followed by a second Edmonton goal shortly after. McDavid scored again with 1.9 seconds left on the clock to take the game to overtime. Alex Tuch scored the overtime winner off a pass from Ryan McLeod to call the game. Goaltender Alex Lyon made 24 saves in the matchup.
