Minnesota Vikings News Dump (12.11.2025) | Kleinsasser HOF, Eric Wilson Pro Bowl, Pure Progression
What’s going on, Jeromes? Beautiful Thursday. Birds are indeed chirping and stuff, and it’s time for another Vikings news dump. So, uh, Jay McCarthy makes his, well, don’t want to say Sunday because it’s not, but like big stage, Jerry World, Cowboys, America’s team. Really? The Taliban’s team. Yeah. Uh, Sunday Night Football game is not flexed. and McCarthy has the chance to on the national stage to prove all the haters and losers wrong. It’s going to be good, man. Can’t wait to see it. Also, uh, Vikings Insider, people lie, stats don’t. So, week 14, JJ McCarthy, three touchdowns, zero turnovers, one win, and then the rest of the quarterbacks, Momes, Jaylen Herz, Jaden Daniels, Kurt Cousins, Lamar Jackson. Lamar’s been ass. Thank you. lately. Yeah. And also Drake May, I don’t even care that he was on by, but two touchdowns, 12 turnovers, zero wins combined, no problem. And I know that’s facitious, but I mean, Mahomes and Herz combined for zero touchdowns and eight turnovers. So, and also zero zero wins. So again, it’s what we said before. JJ McCarthy is the most overanalyzed and overscrutinized quarterback in quite some time, right? And you have all these other other quarterbacks. Mahomes has not been good this year. Jaylen Herz is ass. And oh, thank you. And Lamar has just been off. But they get a pass. They they get a pass. Josh Allen has some rough game. You know the Bills lost to the Falcons. Such a stupid stupid season, man. But JJ McCarthy because sample size because everyone hates him because of Michigan. Has to be perfect every single week, every single play. It’s okay. It’s okay. It’s okay. Also, first injury report is out. So, uh, two things of note. Darasaw Hawinson DNP with the knee and shin respect, uh, respectively. Now, Darasaw usually does the practice DMP practice. We’ll see this late in the season. Uh, sounds like uh, you know, Kevin Khan did say that the team came out pretty clean from Monday. So, uh, from Sunday’s game on Monday. So, hopefully this is just precautionary. We’ll see. But at Darasaw, we need him down the stretch, man. We need to see what this offense can legitimately be without freaking Justin School at left tackle. It’s all, man. And then, you know, a bunch of players limited. Wouldn’t be too worried about it. Uh LDR did go from uh DNP last week to full uh to limited, excuse me. So, that’s promising. Yeah. And for the Cowboys, Gen Hooker DNP, uh you do have CD Lamb in the Kagasha protocol as well. We’ll see if he clears by Sunday. Uh, also Travon Diggs is in his 21-day return to practice window coming off his knee injury. Also, uh, in December annual December drive, all Venmo’s cash app super chats in December go towards Toys for Tots and Salvation Army Twin Cities. 3K goal for the month currently hovering at about 800o. Uh, donation links uh, in the video description below. Also, if you donate directly to Toys for Tots and Salvation Army Twin Cities, uh, email producer alleyfwgmail.com to be included in the total. also personalized videos for the holidays. It is a stocking stuffer that is beautiful. All right, so you got some fans of the show, friends, family members. U we we’ll do a little ish talking. It’s kind of good. I I I have a lot of fun with these and there will be rants, there will be jokes from the show, there will be everything. It’ll be good, man. So, email producer Alec do that up also. So, there’s a lot of debate going on right now. And so, I I’m obviously, you know, big- time football fan, get into the weeds a little bit, but not to this in depth, right? You know, passing concepts, all all this stuff where so many people also I love this. So, Curt Warner, Hall of Fame MVP, Super Bowl MVP, quarterback, you know, he he’s taken to the Twitter machine. He was talking about breaking down concepts and all that stuff. I love just like Joe 12pack on the couch. Curt Warner, you’re wrong. I I mean, is he right all the time? You probably not. But does he know way more than you? Yes. Yes. Uh I play quarterback at uh at the junior varsity level. But the whole debate right now, pure progression versus full full uh filled reads, etc. And of course, Kevin McConnell. So Kevin McConnell has been bashed up and down because, you know, simplifying the offense for JJ McCarthy. Oh, he can’t handle uh, you know, a full read system. Blah, blah, blah. He had a lot of things to say. Um, not going to go I’m not going to read all that. So, I’m happy for you or I’m sorry for what happened. some of that. But if you watch this presser, like McConnell was legit irked about the whole situation, about the, you know, the peer progression offense, I say yes, JJ McCarthy is still making reads. Yes, J.J. McCarthy is finding the open man. That’s all that I care about right now. Right. So, will will McCarthy uh progress into a full field scanning, you know, breaking down the defense? Yes. Yes. Yes, he will. But as of right now, just let let the dude play. And I I I love it. And I said yesterday that you can tell when coaches get really irked by media and fans who think they know a thing or two cuz Okonnell went into a full-on diet tribe like breaking down uh you know, parachute coverage and cover three, cover four, hook zones, all that stuff. So when coaches start, you know, spitting out the technical terms, they’re just like, “I know more than you. full-on Ron Swanson at Home Depot. It’s kind of funny, man. Also, uh Luke Macau, he of the commercial fame. Yeah, Luke Macau, a backup for a bunch of years in the league. Also, brother of Josh Macau, Vikings quarterback’s coach. So, he’s got some interesting insight. Uh it’s why it’s why pure progression offenses and or plays still have a place when you can’t tell what the coverage or defense is in these types of diabolical disguises. You must have a starting point with your eyes. even if it’s covered at some point for some plays, you have to be able to say, “I don’t care what the coverage is.” Because you’re not going to figure them all out. You just get to your eyes uh at the right spot and work it out uh with your eyes and feet. And really, it’s a combat to, you know, all of this disguises because the Vikings, you know, Flores and other defense around the league are so good at disguising what they want to do. Crowd up in the line of scrimmage. Uh they’re showing man, they go zone, they’re showing blitz, they drop back, all this stuff. And some offenses, yeah, it determines like, oh, this is going to be a man, this is going to be X, this is going to be then do this, this, this versus pure progression, I mean, it it really doesn’t matter, you know, what the defense is going to do. You you just go through your progressions, you make your reads, and you hit the first guy that’s open, right? So, football can be simple, football can be extremely complicated, but this debate rages on. And again, I love it. It’s like couch potatoes against Curt Warner. It’s so funny, man. And like I said, I don’t I don’t care if it’s pure progression. I don’t care if it’s XYZ. I don’t care if they’re throwing a rock with a potato. Like if they’re making yards and getting points, I I honestly do not care in the slightest. Actually, I want to see the potato rock offense. That’s going to be the new inside joke for the show. Uh, also, so Kevin McConnell was a bit perturbed during his presser, but this cheered him up the end. Vikings fan page. Vikings head coach Kevin McConnell on Philip Rivers returned to the NFL. Not surprised at all. I know I know for a fact that he’s got a full-scale practice field at his house and he’s got enough folks in his family to form a team if he needs to. Uh Kevin McConnell spent a season as Philip Rivers backup in San Diego and I don’t know I’m hopeful for Philip Rivers but I’m not I don’t like this is state of the league and quarterback progression where Philip Rivers a 44 year old grandpa who hasn’t played in five years is a better option than some team’s backup quarterbacks or quarterback threes. Honestly, if Philip River starts this week at Seattle, I think it’s more likely than not it goes poorly. Maybe not Max Bro show poorly, but poorly. Unless the plan is to hand it off to Jonathan Taylor 40 times, then I then I think they have a chance. And and speaking of Philip Rivers and the Chargers, like I said, you can’t get offended. You have to lean into the memes, right? It’s like, all right, yeah, you can have alter ego nine, but get ready to be made fun of. Or it’s like, you know, Vikings fans, we do the skull chant. Get ready to be have it shoved in your face if other team beats you. Right. It is what it is. And Chargers muse, the Chargers offensive line. Chargers offensive line has been so bad yet. And yeah, they’re they’re down alt. They go, Rashan Slater got hurt so early, man. It just their offensive line has been terrible. And you know, Justin Herbert’s a freaking warrior out there. But like I said, he’s the most meme man since Michael Jordan. Might even surpass it. Also, we need to bring back crying Jordan. Those are so good. Anyways, Vikings communications. Eric Wilson. Hey, Mr. Wilson. Has collected 13 tackles for Los in the past eight games. Is tied for the six most tackles for loss in eight games spanned by Vikings since 1999. only Pro Bowl Hall of Famer Jared Allen has had more tackles for loss within that span. I I love this time of year because the the comm’s teams put out such obscure and you know time compressed stats uh to make their guys look good and I love it. I mean Eric Wilson should be in the Pro Bowl, but you know doesn’t have that name recognition so probably not going to get the fan vote. And also let’s be honest like players and and coaches like they don’t have time to break down every single film. like they’re worried about who they’re playing next. So, there there is a lot of who you know as well as name brand recognition uh when it comes to the all that voting stuff, but Wilson definitely deserves to be a Pro Bowl man. Also, speaking of the Pro Bowl, so the top 10 voted cornerbacks leading the fan vote. Uh number one, JC Horn respect. Uh by the way, when the Vikings were calling the Panthers to get up to try and get up to number eight in the 2021 draft and everyone’s like, “Oh, they’re trying to get Justin Fields.” No, they’re trying to get this gentleman. JC Horn in his Zimmer defense. Hell, if the Vikings were able to get JC Horn, Zimmer might still be coaching the Vikings. Uh Nan Wright is number two. We didn’t need him. Yeah. Uh and as I said, like Nan Wright certainly has been hot and cold and he’s getting the votes because of the interceptions and the pick six, but I mean, he’s probably going to get he’s probably going to be second team allpro. a guy that was on the practice squad and played 15 special team snaps and zero gooseagno defensive snaps last year for the Vikings who now have cornerback issues. He becomes a pro bowler and second team allpro in a year. Didn’t need him. Okay. He was even signed to a futures contract this year. Uh Jabel Dean, Mars also what’s amazing is that Isaiah Rogers I mean if you had this vote after week three Isaiah Rogers be number one. That’s how bad the falloff bit like Roger Isaiah Rogers had the best half of a defensive player in NFL history. And he’s been bad as of late. Yeah. Also Vikings making some roster moves. Viking side linebacker Josh Ross to the practice squad. Now Ross is the boss, a former Michigan man, teammate with Josh Matelis, as well as one-year teammate with JJ McCarthy. Uh Michigan’s been in the news as of late. Yeah. Uh but I I think what it is that, you know, John Ross is a decent special teams player. Plus, you know, teams this time of year start turning and burning their practice squad, players that they want on the 90man, players that they want offer futures contract. So, you know, they get a month audition. John Ross, Josh Ross, uh, who had spent some time with the Ravens as well as the Seahawks. So, there you go. Also, this is how bad things are. Aaron Wilson, Vikings worked out, uh, running back Travis Ty. So, we’re now working out running backs from the CFL and played at South Dakota. Not South Dakota State, South Dakota. Go Coyotes. Woo! Bring it on. Again, whatever at this point. Speaking of Dakota school college stars, the pride of North Dakota, the formerly Sue now Hawks, I think. I don’t I I I don’t know. But Jimmy Klein Saucer, he’s one of my favorite Vikings. Uh his So, I had a Klein Saucer 40 jersey when I was a kid. I also had a Klein Saucer 85 jersey because remember he came to the league as number 85. So, that one was at steep discount when you changed numbers. So, it was great. Jimmy K, Jim Klein Saucer, the pride of North Dakota, Paul Bunion incarnate. I love it, man. Uh, he was uh, congratulations to Vikings legend Jim Klein Saucer on his introduction into the College Football Hall of Fame. Living in the Hall of Fame rightfully so, man. Love to see it. And also, hey, since we’re bringing back old players, how old is Klein Saucer? Is he like 50? Don’t care. Hey, if Philip Rivers can play at 45, Jimmy Kleiner can play at 50. I don’t care. Bring it on, man. Actually, now we got CJ Ham. Actually, no. You know what? Two fullbacks. Let’s run the inverted wishbone straight up. Defenses arses. Do it. Do it. Anyways, that’s it. Beautiful Thursday. You guys are the absolute best. You know what to do. Skull production value.

Marcus Mariota will be the Vikings back up QB next year. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST… see KO's and Marota's interaction at the end of Sunday's game against the Commanders.
Skol from Scotland. 🏈
The Taliban’s team 😂
I wonder who holds the record for the most tackles in a week 8 game when one of the teams has a 4-4 record?
I’ve noticed that other seasoned QBs own issues are never discussed even when they don’t look good. JJ’s are discussed at length to prove he is no good. I’m sick of it! Also, for wide receivers like Jettas, there should be double team stats to show how much positive effect they have on a game even when they are not racking up yards.
Jones dome wont have what the old field did an open field for snow to chill the boys. Vikings thanksgiving to dallas could bring a nice snow. Forman running catching.. tough purple people eaters.
Just play good JJ, win or lose , play good….
COACH KEVIN'S A PRO'S PRO.. ANDY BRO!😂🎉❤
COFFEE Time with you to the end my friend!
Has the problem all along been an unnecessarily complicated offense? Listening to some of the play names alone makes me nuts. I can't even imagine what it's like for the players. If KOC puts on this same over the top, smarter than you show with players, i can see how that would take the fun out of the game.
Yes the armchairs who think they know more than Brees and Warner. Have never even played a down. Its hilarious 💯
There's 32 HCs in NFL. 32 people out of approximately 335 million in the US getting paid millions to run teams. Yeah, they know more football than anyone. Problem is, their egos get in the way because they're human. KOC falling into QB mechanics rabbit hole instead of simplifying O for JJ? Big part of season gone bust.
1. I agree 100%. Whatever works for McCarthy & the offence is the right system. 👍
It's pretty straight forward: The best HCs/OCs/DCs/STCs devise/cater thier schemes to put the talent they have in the best position possible to execute every play flawlessly & have consistent success.👍
2. FWIW, I am REALLY enjoying these opportunities to learn about different types of progressions (..although my ADHD brain doesn't always retain it all.😂).
One thing that folks must remember is that when the QB needs to use 'Pure Progression', he still may make 'strategic' decisions, For example, with certain calls, the QB may have the option to
(a) decide who will be the first, second, third, etc read based on match ups between receivers & defenders. (..in previous games, certain defenders may have had a lot of difficulty covering certain receivers..),
(b) prioritize certain receivers based on how much time the QB has been getting in the pocket,
(c) decide to focus on receivers because the defence has been double-teaming other receivers,
(d) change the order of his reads because of how many yards the offence must get on that play.
(e) choose a pair of receivers who will cross the line of vision of defenders if the QB needs to use one of them to 'look off' defenders who always watch the QBs eyes,
Bottom line: The QB doesn't just turn into a robot when using a Pure Progression scheme!
3. IMHO, "Kleinsasser" remains one of the best football last names ever!
4. That ChargersMuse meme is hilarious! I must admit that I love following the 'evolution' of a meme after the initial viral version, just to see how creative people can get (..unless it's a really cruel/racist/otherwise nasty meme..). BTW, I have noticed over the decades that, on average, Chargers fans have some of the best senses of humour among all 32 fan bases in the NFL.👍
Will be interesting…
Normally I’d agree with you but when it comes to McCarthy, it sounds like his own coach doesn’t like him.
As a USD grad, I say "go Yotes".
