[Highlight] The Lakers attempt to play transition defense

Saw this multiple times in-game
Lebron James cannot be one of the two men getting back on defense.
Luka is what he is, a defensive liability, but he provides more than plenty of offense. That turnover is his fault, and he whines about it instead of putting in any effort, which is expected but still disappointing.
Reeve,s the 2nd best player, gets back, good work
What the hell are Smart and 11 doing, They cannot afford that shit
Looking like an LA fitness scrimmage

This game was very eye opening for me about Luka.
I certainly think the refs missed a few calls for him, especially when he got poked in the eye and then got a tech for chirping about it. I thought that was horseshit.
But man, he left his team 4 on 5 defense numerous times bitching at the refs. I know lots of stars get criticism for complaining too much, but this felt like an extreme.
On top of that, I can see how some of his box score numbers are empty calories at times. If he isn’t complete DOMINATING on offense, then he really is hurting his team with his defense and hero ball.
I love Luka but he really is his own worst enemy
To be fair to Luka he can only run as fast as the ref he’s complaining to at the time
I want to see JJ Redick’s reaction.
Typical Luka, statpadding the Whine and Bitch column.
How is the 41 year old the only one sprinting back. That’s crazy
Most shocking thing about this clip is Luka actually isn’t the slowest on transition somehow.
What’s funny is they went on a run literally right before this, then just gave up
No, actually, I don’t think they do.
All night with this shit. Embarrassing
Truly horrendous
That was an ugly TO, but then leaving the lane wide open – that was FUGLY
1 possession in the first half of a regular season game in December should not be used to make sweeping declarations about a team…
But I actually believe this is why the lakers won’t go anywhere, despite how much talent they have. Sooner or later they are going to need to get a stop in a big game, and there is just absolutely no one I trust to be able to do that.
I get the aim of the post here by ShaiFanClub, we get it, but what the hell are Hayes and Smart doing here, it takes them about 2 seconds to start going back.
Smart and Harrison Barnes are right next to each other as HB steals the ball, fast forward 7 secs later, Barnes is dunking the ball but Marcus is on the halfway line jogging.
Hayes is ahead of Luka and even with Luka wasting time complaining to the ref for no reason, Hayes still manages to cross the half-court after him. This guy is barely in an NBA rotation and that’s the effort he gives? Bro if I was barely holding onto that contract, I’d be running up and down the court like I was doing a marathon every game. Even in 7-aside football sometimes I run back to the defense barely breathing, this guy is jogging
W energy
SVG called out Luka and Hayes on this play but I thought it was a bad look that Smart was the last one back. Guy, your whole role on this team is defense and energy. You can’t be the last one back
Is the attempt in the room with us?
Luka conplaints to much bro.
Luka and Jaxson Hayes jogging, Smart not even at the hash
Idk if this is Luka’s energy being infectious or the coaching being too lax rn or what, but Marcus Smart is the last mf who should be whimsically trotting back on defense, effort is the #1 reason he has a job
Not even my guy Marcus running back man what happened
It would help Luka greatly to get T’d up every time he complains and ejected a few games to learn.
His bitching ruins the game.
Lol wild how many spurs players showed up before lakers
Just took another week off JJ’s life, thanks Lakers.
Dudes gonna look like Jeff van Gundy by the end of his contract.
The funniest part is that Barnes wasn’t even hustling up the floor to finish that bucket either. He was just casually jogging up and oh hey look what I found, lol
Defense is the key to winning championships. A spear can never break a shield unless that person is from Chicago
Maybe Nico was right
You can’t expect the Lakers to keep up with young athletes like Harrison Barnes in the fast break.
People say on cold rainy nights, you can still see Marcus Smart standing in the corner.
Post 2020 lakers in a nutshell.
Rich Paul was right btw. The only people arguing against what he was saying were Kobe fans.
Luka back on them in n out burgers.
Geez! You have to get down faster than that.
stan van gundy kept talking about how the spurs were too young and fast for the lakers, but everyone who refuses to sprint on the lakers is under 30 years old
Luka that’s on you, Hayes, and Smart. You’re such a whiner you don’t even realize when things are your own fault….. 0 rings mentality
A Thunder fan posting this is actually so funny 😆. You’re so used to good defense this must be making your eyes bleed 😭🤣
Why is it 40 year old lebron and and AR the only ones hustling back what is going on lol
I watched this over and over and what’s hilarious is that Harrison Barnes is standing next to Marcus Smart when he steals it. Then he’s somehow half a court of ahead of Smart and scores
This is why I prefer college basketball.
Imagine paying a lot of money just to watch that? Might as well just watch from home.
That’s fuckin awful tbh.
Austin Reaves was deciding between guarding the shooter or the driver and ended up doing neither lol
Only like 3 possessions after that monster Lebron dunk they showed 72 times. I think he screamed out the rest of whatever defensive energy they had with that.
But r/nba swears Luka is good on defense!!!
Luka commits the turnover so it makes sense why he’s behind, even tho the complaining is lame. LeBron & Reaves are pretty much back.
But when you’re a role player how the fuck are you jogging/walking back like Jaxson Hayes and Marcus Smart do here…? Smart barely makes it past half court as the ball is going in. Hayes looking around lost.
Obviously the rest of the team was lazy and didn’t get back on defense. But is it just me or do lebron and Austin look really gassed in this clip?
This is embarrassing
Why do players not hustle on defense? Is it because it’s not flashy/hype like offense? The amount of pros who just limp back on defense is wild. Even Lebron was running back and he could be some of these players father
