I don't fully agree with this post, but I'm at the point where I'm willing to trade away anyone not named Neto. Realistically, this means Adell and Kikuchi, the only two other guys on the roster worth a damn.
I'm a big Adell guy, so I would be disappointed if he left, but we need high-impact prospects.

I would certainly listen to offers on anyone besides Neto (too difficult to replace a star shortstop like him) and Trout (sentimental reasons). But I wouldn’t trade guys just for the sake of trading them. It’s not like anyone we have is really stopping us from rebuilding.
Man could you believe if we trade Neto? We could get anything, even a Zach Neto!
The only thing that will help is if Arte sells the team. That’s all. We could trade them all and get prospects who will never pan out to excellence.
I was thinking we could keep the young guys but you may be right with a full overhaul. My concern is that we don’t have the brain power for it. Need to rebuild ownership and front office first and then see where we are at and commit to a direction.
The angels would certainly benefit from a pure full scale rebuild, but I don’t see why it should come at the expense of players like Neto. We also have an owner who will never admit defeat and admit when he was wrong, so this will not be happening anytime soon. What I can see happening is the team again struggling to finish a season healthy and playing well (99% likelihood), and the angels selling on players like Adell, kikuchi, soriano, detmers, etc. players who have been on the roster/system for a while and have not pushed the needle towards improving. This team is not a superstar away from the playoffs; but it could definitely benefit from the veterans and younger players fulfilling their potential.
trade arte
The only one I would consider is Adell. We know he has power and can mash the ball but his plate discipline is awful. If he can lower his K% and work more walks then you hold onto him. If he still struggles with getting on base but is still hitting tons of homers, coax a contender to overpay for a power bat at the deadline.
I would trade anyone at this point but I don’t think it even matters. Until we get leadership that wants to invest in the team and not just market it I don’t see think we will ever win
They’re in a full scale rebuild except for Trout.
There’s no one on this team besides Neto (who should not be traded) who could truly jump start a rebuild. For all the talk this fan base does about Schanuel and Adell, they are 110 OPS+ bats at non premium positions. The angels don’t have a Freddy Peralta/Ketel Marte type of trade chip.
All of this to say… nothing matters until Arte is gone anyway, so they might as well just try to put a decent team together and see if they catch lightning. Arte will never put the proper resources into player development for a true rebuild to succeed.
At least the other guys are out there putting in the work unlike serial bench warmer Rendon.
This is probably the deciding season on that. If the young core shows notable improvement and graduate from 1-2 WAR players to 2-3 WAR players they are in a position to start bringing in good free agents in the next off-season to supplement the core and make a run. If the young core regresses and/or doesn’t show improvement and just turns in 1-2 WAR seasons again they should just blow it all up.
Adell should be a deadline trade this season either way.
The only player I want or need trade away is trout
I get where you’re coming from, but is this not a rebuild? Perry has done his best to rebuild by bringing in college players and kinda fast tracking them, which imo isn’t a bad thing. Some players need a little more time like Moore for example, but otherwise what we’re doing isn’t terrible as it’s worked out fairly well with Neto, Schanuel, Joyce etc.. It’s mostly that we were so depleted at almost every position so we had to start somewhere. Also hurts that our “stars” have t panned out well, mostly from injury.
Neto and maybe Schanuel and Adell, are the only ones id think have a gaurentee slot on the team. O’Hoppe i think has upside and is dealing with issues that can be fixed, plusngood catchers are hard to find – so id want to keep him. Im gonna toss in a sentimental vote for Trout just because i dont care how much he regresses, i want him staying on this team til he retires. Everyone else, while i dont think we need to trade everyone – they should atleast be listening to offers.
While I am a rebuild believer I think no rebuild will ever truly be effective until we fix our player development and scouting. We could trade for all of the prospects in the world but if we can’t develop and maintain them then it’s all for naught and we’re left with something like the Rockies rather than something like the reds and (2024) orioles.
Adell for the love of God. We don’t needJustin Upton 2
I’d be very comfortable trading Soriano for someone like Coby Mayo.
Adell is an obvious trade candidate since he has two years of control left – possibly only one depending on the labor situation next year.
Kikuchi should be a solid trade chip at the deadline. Depending on the season he’s having, he could net a couple of solid prospects.
Of course, they’re not going to trade anyone. They messed up by not selling high on Detmers and their pending FA’s at last season’s TDL.
No, the current team is salvageble, they just need to invest in the correct resources, but we have an owner who refuses to upgrade player amenities and facilities, doesn’t invest in player development, and has given up on the fan experience
This young core is capable of winning, the rest of the team is the problem
why would you trade Neto? or O’Hoppe coming off a down year? shit for brains lol
We don’t have anyone to trade at this point honestly we had a better shot at returns a year or two ago
Doesn’t matter. We could swap our roster for the Dodgers roster and our staff and development would still have us eliminated by Labor Day.
A full rebuild might take up to 4-5 years if everything works out. You never know with draft picks. Some live up to their expectations others don’t. Look at Brandon Wood, Dallas McPherson, Canning, Richards, Heney, Mathis just to name a few.
They need good starting pitching. When they focused on starting pitching they were good.
Besides Neto, you aren’t going to like the return on those players. Honestly you might even be disappointed in Netos trade value. Obviously is someone comes in with overpay we have to consider it.
But blowing up a roster like this doesn’t often make you better in the future because of it lol.
