100% agree. He’s no longer our number 1. But wasting assets on trading him and/or salary cap by waiving him is counterproductive. He’s always been worth the price.

Whoever is talking about waiving him isn’t a fan of basketball.
Maybe he deserves a DX chop
Since medical retirement won’t happen pretty much stuck with his salary. If he’s good enough to trade, keep him. If he’s basically done, no one is going to want him. Lose-lose situation.
We could be showing him more grace by accepting that he can’t do it anymore and letting him medically retire, if it’s even possible. Other than that I don’t see people bitching about him as much as PG.
This fanbase really sucks sometimes
They just need to learn how to utilize him properly. Sure he’s not our number 1, but he’s default number 2 when he’s playing. That hurts us whenever his shots aren’t falling and he’s not even attempting to protect the rim.
It’s also confusing as to who’s number 2 when he’s not playing. This team cannot get into rhythm when they have to literally adjust their strategy damn near every game. You have very little opportunity to develop good chemistry.
But regardless, I’ll always have love for the big man since he’s done amazing things for the city and plays with all his heart
3.5 more years of a max contract and we get maybe 40 games a year from him and a broken down version if we make the playoffs?
I’m good. Sixers are stuck in mediocrity until they finally move on at this point.
“He’s always been wortn the the price”
I’d argue that that is very debatable.
Never trade Joel. Dude have his body to this city. I know we fell short of our expectations but he’s done a lot
Rooting for big fella, but I don’t have much hope for him.
When i watch him out there, I see the Sixers version of Chris Webber right after he got traded to us in ’04.
He was a year removed from a near MVP season and was 30 years old, but his knees were gone and he was resigned to being a spot up middie shooter with no defense.
Jojo is better than C Dubb ever was, but the similarities are uncanny.
There are spurts of brilliance, but the movement and athleticism that separated Jojo from the rest of the pack is gone, and it doesnt come back as you age into your 30’s. It doesn’t happen, ever.
I just worry for the resentment that will grow when Jojo continues to decline.
Things will get ugly, because we have 4 more years of this
Just don’t see a way for this to end well, but I’ll continue to watch to see our young players develop.
He’s not worth $50+ million for playing less than half the regular season now, and in the handful of games he does play in, he can’t even play freely, it’s literally sunk cost fallacy.
Embiid doesn’t owe me shit. Dude gave it his all, but it’s over. He’s just going to slowly decline for the next 3 years and people are more than happy to be a 6th seed for the next 4 years as long as Embiids on the team. They’re real fans tho, apparently.
I agree, but that also means taking maybe 8-9 shots per game, not 20. At least for the time being. The offense should not be running through him. It’s not his team anymore.
Nobody saying otherwise is worth the air they breathe.
On an emotional/fan level, he’s given everything he has to this team and the fans. He’s tried to overcome his weaknesses, he’s tried to work around them, he’s played through more injuries than anyone would expect and is still going. I don’t see how anyone who’s a fan of Philly sports could root against the guy.
On a logical level, if he’s good enough to trade then we shouldn’t be trading him and if he’s not, nobody’s going to want him without a ton of assets attached. Not much of a bright future for the team if we do that.
Man fuck all that, at the end of the day this is a business. Whatever is best for the team moving forward is what needs to be done. He has been compensated handsomely during his time here, his extension hasn’t even kicked in yet.
Love Jo and he has all the grace in the world from me but I’m also not going to commit to him being back until he can show those knees hold up for a few weeks in a row.
He was moving really really well last game just had an uncharacteristically shit shooting night but his shot is smooth as butter so it’s not worth worrying about. If he can keep moving smoothly like that he can get back an elite level this season.
But again, it’s down to whether those knees hold up on a consistent basis. Can’t get too emotionally invested in a situation like that so for the moment I treat it like a fun bonus when he’s out there.
