Let’s go Islanders

  1. Lower the fucking prices! I gotta buy 4 tickets to start, plus parking, plus food. Gonna be broke to see one game.

  2. I love the Islanders, but going to games has become such a headache. Maybe I’m just getting old. Will still go to a game or two with the family a year. My biggest issue is definitely the parking (long ass walk in the freezing cold) and the shit show getting out of there.

  3. This is a decent turnout for a Tuesday night. Look at the upper deck, that’s where the fans are

Spend $300+ on food, tix, parking/train for a Tues night regular season game at Xmas time? Cmon now

  4. I work at 3am everyday and have a 2 and a half year old. I ain’t making any games anytime soon.

  5. All those empty lower level seats are Dime Club seats. 3 minutes into the game, I’m guilty of missing the early parts of the game because I’m hanging out having my 5th plate of food

  6. If it was at the coliseum! it’s so hard to get their and my dad works till 6 on weekdays

  7. Every game I go to I’m paying for tickets, food, and train for 3-5 people, leaving the house before 5 and getting my kids home well after 11 on a school night. It’s not exactly a small money/time commitment. Plus we’ve got the best broadcast team in the league.

  8. It’s a weekday game before the 15th of the month, people don’t have time or money right now lol

  9. Islander games aren’t cheap. No sporting events are now. Between upper deck seats and parking you have spend 225 for a family of four before you walk In the door.

  10. Hard to get there in time from Delaware unfortunately. I’ll be there on New Year’s Day though!

  11. I’ve made peace with the fact that for as long as getting to and from UBS Arena is a pain in the ass, our attendance is going to suck outside of marquee games.

I’m a diehard Isles fan, I watch every game, I live a little over an hour away from the arena. I’m not going to as many games as I’d like because I don’t like being in the freezing cold for a long period of time, especially coming home. The 15 minute walk to the station + waiting for the train is such a slap-in-the-face to the fan experience. Choosing between that and the comfort of my own home is an easy choice most nights, and judging from the attendance numbers, a lot of people agree with me.

  12. Just got a 4 pack holiday plan for my family for Xmas. Was able to get parking comped. Not the cheapest seats, but way cheaper than any other team in the metro area for the quality of seat and experience.

  13. UBS is a great arena but the prices and the pain in the ass to get there makes it bad. They should’ve found a better location. I live in PA now so its almost impossible to get to unless I park in NJ, take a 1.5 hr train and take a 45 min train and then walk for over a mile to the arena. Wouldnt even consider driving in.

  14. Making the drive from Jersey for the Penguins game on 2/6 and hoping for a more lively crowd by then. Dime club seats so I’ll probably consume 10K calories.

  15. I get the complaints about the cost of parking, but i just feel like getting from the lot to the arena is not that big of a deal that it should dissuade anyone able-bodied from going to watch a very competitive team play. Are you guys OK?

  16. Note for anyone complaining about parking:

The combined price of the ticket to the game + the parking is still cheaper than the majority of tickets around the league. If you’re too afraid to pay that, just admit to being a fair-weather fan

  17. I was there last night but with those 7pm starts, I need to leave the house at 5 to be there by 6:15-6:30. Great win, though!

  18. Lots of unsold Dime Club/Verizon/Spotlight seats last night, standard price as well as resale. Watch that get worse when the multi year contracts run out! Maybe they’ll finally get message and lower ticket prices.

  19. I wish they would have thought more about and invested more in the logistics of getting to and from a game. That IS part of the live game experience. I can tell you that being able to get to within 50 yards of CPA here in Seattle by public transportation , makes getting to and from the game a non issue. I’m spoiled. If I still lived in NY I’d most likely take the LIRR but even that sounds like it has it’s hassles. Is there anything in the works now to make it easier to get to and from UBS?

  20. 40 years of no support for Palffy or Turgeon…15 YEARS for DiPIetro…clueless owners…acting like we have the money of a team from northern Greenland.

Hard to get up the urgency…

Waiting to see if Shaeffer will be on Toronto with Tavares in a few years.

They start showing that they REALLY want to win as a team…I will come back from Pennsylvania once or twice a year to watch them live.

Otherwise, 500 bucks for the night? That’s a mortgage payment for me.
