Wizards in Sabonis Rumors. How do we feel?

  1. Personally, I wouldn’t mind flipping CJ and Kispert for Sabonis and an asset

Sabonis can help teach these kids to rebound lol

  2. Anytime, under this current regime, I see a player linked to us is trade rumors I automatically assume it’s false. This FO will rarely ever leak anything regarding trade talks. The only instance I can think of… is us(fans) knowing that we were actively shopping Kuzma, but a player in return was never leaked, just draft compensation.

  3. The timing is off. We may have been interested in the past (e.g., during the Beal era), and we might be interested next year, once we start our climb back towards competitiveness. But while adding Sabonis would significantly improve our rebounding, I can’t see us adding him this year while we are actively trying to bottom out.

  4. This was true a couple years ago

No reason to pay Sabonis $47M now to teach us how to be an 11 seed , not to mention long term Sarr is going to be a Holmgren style 5

Would rather just pay Mitch Rob in free agency and not trade anyone

  5. The Kings would only do this to get off his contract, but for the only reason why we would want Sabonis we would need to receive draft capital from him or the front office believes we can flip him. I highly doubt you can even flip him because with the new second apron teams are hesitant to get players that are on a huge salary and trading for a player who’s not really good defensively isn’t going to be positive asset for a lot of teams.

  6. if they give us a pick as well, why not. I think he fits well with the squad. need some thiing back though and we shouldn’t give up too much.

  7. Honestly this is kind of swing move that would make sense. We have a ridiculous amount of cap space, we literally have to spend it. The kings get off his deal, and we may get a pick for it too. In return we give them what, cj and kispert? The fit with sarr would also be very interesting. My only concern is if it’s in season, it could give us a few extra wins and move us away from the lotto balls, offseason wise though, this move can make sense.

  8. The obvious answer is: it depends on the deal. I think he would make a nice pair with Sarr, and they definitely have the cap space, and we’re anyway talking about them following the Rockets’ VanVleet/Brooks model next year (ie, signing a couple vets for professionalism).

But Sabonis is too old to be worth giving up real assets for, given their timeline. So it just comes down to the price. If somehow it fell to Middleton, Branham, and four 2nds? Sure.

Or if we’re feeling krazy: Sabonis *and* Lavine for Middleton, CJ, and Kispert.

  9. The on court fit is absolutely hand in glove, he’s exactly what the team needs. Now, im not sure that’s a good thing if your trying to stay in the bottom 8. Im with the other guy in the thread, get him, ice him, and play him with George, sarr, and preferably Peterson next season.
