Breaking: Los Angeles Chargers Sign TE Tanner McLachlan to Practice Squad! | Bolt Bros |
What up guys? James from Bull Bros here. Chargers have made a signing for Tanner Mclaclin, tight end. Pretty interesting signing, but what does he bring to this team? Why do we need to bring a player like this in at this point of the year? Well, let’s talk about it, guys. So, let’s just go ahead and get into it. Bolt Bros., let’s go. [Music] Bros. All right, guys. Once again, appreciate all the love and support. Please like this video, subscribe to this channel if you’ve not. We appreciate all the love and support. And also in the comments below, let us know what your thoughts is about Tanner McLaclin, tight end, added to this team. Now, interesting move. You know, why do you end up bringing a guy like this in? Well, Tucker Fisk went down with an IR. He’s basically out for the next four weeks. Basically, we can’t activate him until if we get in the playoffs at this point. So, we are completely out of IR activations. Basically, if we get to the playoffs, we could activate Tucker Fisk to the roster. It’s kind of an interesting thing. We’ve used way too many IR designations this year. So, we are fresh out. So, big thing you bring in a guy like Tanner McLaclin, a guy that is a pretty good built size body kind of guy, he’s one of those guys that’s going to add a little bit more to the receiving game on top of that, too. And you know, it’s maybe one of those guys you just get put in the system and see where he could be down the road. Even Tucker Fisk was one of those guys that we picked up off the waiverss and he’s actually worked up pretty well and he’s been with us for basically since last year. So that’s why you end up going out there and get a guy like this and it’s also it’s a position of need for us too. Um you know in signing Tanner 2, we had to release center John Kelenberger which is crazy to see how many times he’s been in and out of this practice squad. Uh there’s something the Chargers like about him and obviously center is a huge need for us. I mean maybe this is going to be a long-term type respective situation with Josh where he’ll end up finding a way as maybe a backup or possibly starter. I mean I liked him in the uh preseason. He looked pretty good then but we’ll see where it ends up leading with him. But to the subject here guys Tanner Mclaclin guy is a pretty goodsized tight end too. Cool thing about him too, he started his college career at Southern Utah as a wide receiver from 2018 to 2021. Only had 15 receptions, 168 yards. And then in 2022, he transferred to the University of Arizona as a walk-on in his first year at Arizona in 2022. Started seven of 12 games. Did have 34 receptions, 456 yards, and two touchdowns. Pretty good year. Not a bad year for only seven games started there, too. as a senior in 2023 recorded 45 catches, 528 yards, and four touchdowns. So, he had a total of 79 receptions at University of Arizona. And that actually broke a Hall of Fame tight end by the name of Rob Gronowski for the school record there at University of U Arizona. Crazy to see that, guys. Now, I’m not saying we’re getting a Rob Gronowski by any means by signing a guy that’s actually just was a late round pick in sixth round for the Bengals back in 2024, but hey, he could be one of those guys that could really grow with this team. I love that we’re bringing in a guy that was a wide receiver, converted to a tight end, a guy that has the ability to go out there and run routes and to be a wide receiver, think like a wide receiver, but also is a very willing blocker from what I’m reading about him, too. His size is pretty good. 6’5, 244 pounds. You know, I think that there was a certain point in time with the Chargers of having a lot of more 260lb tight ends, but maybe they’re kind of scaling it down a little bit more because you see what Aronda Gaston’s doing. I mean, he’s not that 260 lb tight end guy, but he’s a guy that’s converted wide receiver put to a tight end position and doing very well and being a very willing blocker here, too. So, I like how the signing is happening here for this team, and I think it’s a really good addition added to this team. It seemed like listening to a couple Bengals fans about this dude, they felt really good about this player. They felt good about Tanner McLaclin. He could be one of those guys that could just be a nice addition. Like I said earlier, Tucker Fisk is on the IR. You got to find another guy that could fill those gaps. You got a guy Tucker Fisk who is a very good blocker, too. We all know we’re having tough time with blocking. My brother did basically a video about our offensive line. It is atrocious right now. So maybe this is going to be one of those additions to this team that fits really well for us for the long period of time too. Now you could also even go back to the Will Dley talk too. Will Dley has been one of those guys that it’s a it’s been kind of a weird situation with him this year. You know, he was a guy that we basically had on this team, you know, for the last two years. He’s done a pretty good job for us, but he’s kind of hasn’t been as good or at least on the field as much as we’d like to, too. uh he for whatever reason healthy scratch or whatnot maybe there’s kind of fell out of favor for the coaches I’m not sure he played the last game only got one catch I mean not many of our wide receivers got a whole heck of a lot of catches last year but it’s one of those things that maybe you’re just trying to find somebody who’s very similar to what Will Dissy could be and possibly a little bit younger too uh will diss metrics are 6’4 265 that goes back to my conversation that we had a lot of tight ends around 260s for some reason and Maybe we’re trying to go down to more of that scaled down wide receiver size where we could be a dual purpose type tight end. A guy that could block and a guy that could catch the ball too. So, we’ll see where it ends up going with Tanner McLaclin, but I like what I see too. Also, pre-draft measurables. He was about a 461 40 yard uh dash kind of guy. That’s pretty good. Like for a tight end, that’s really dang good to be able to get something like that too and get a little bit of speed in that position, too. So, I like where it’s at. I like the signing. I think it’s a good signing for this team. I think it’s one of those that you could really potentially build off of, too. You know, we’ll see if he ends up getting put up on the active squad for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs. We’ll see what happens there. Um, but I like what we’re seeing from Tanner McLaclin. I think it’s a good addition to this team. And, um, I’m excited to see what we could get from him, too. One thing I will also note, too, in college, he had zero drops. Zero. you understand how difficult that is. So, going back to it, he is a very surehanded player for us. Wide receiver or tight end, he did not have any drops. Didn’t have the craziest amount of receptions, but he did not have any drops at all in college. You got to love that. That is something you always want to hear about a position of need for this team. So, I love it. I think it’s a good addition. I’m excited about Tanner Mccclaclin added to this team. I think it’s a very, very good addition to this team. and a a needed team, needed addition to this team. So, I like it a lot. So, quick word from our sponsor from Sleeper. Maybe Tanner Lachland is a slept on player here possibly. We’ll see what happens here. But, you know, obviously this coaching staff does a great job of finding a way to get the best out of every single player’s talent here. So, I love to see it. So, quick note here. The Los Angeles Chargers have bolstered their tight end depth by signing former Cincinnati Bengals rookie Tanner McLachlan to the practice squad. The 6’5″, 244-pound Canadian tight end, a 2024 sixth-round draft pick out of the University of Arizona, brings impressive athleticism with a 4.61 40-yard dash and a proven receiving background (79 catches for 984 yards and 6 TDs in college).
After recovering from injury and working out with multiple teams, McLachlan gets a fresh opportunity in LA to showcase his seam-stretching skills. Could this be the move that adds more firepower to the Bolts’ offense down the stretch?
Stay tuned for more Chargers roster updates!

6th Rd in 2024, released from IR by Bengals this szn (they're stacked at TE/WR)
Tanner is 26, Fisk is 26, Gadsden is 22 — solid young depth at TE
Did he have any drops when he got to the NFL level? I like that they are still out there trying to get what we need to get this off offensive line and receiver core going.
That's funny you saying Center is a huge need for us because it doesn't seem to coaching staff thinks so they seem to be perfectly fine with Bradley Bozeman blowing every other play and letting Justin Herbert get killed over and over again every week even though they have a former pro bowl Center that they won't even give a shot to
Let’s not forget that O’line is hard to fill this late in the season. This is merely a Big body addition to block on passing downs. WE NEED BLOCKERS!!!!⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
Love the new setup @James ⚡️🆙
I was hoping that we’d grab Zach Kuntz.
I don’t mind this signing if he can pass block and get open for check down
Herbo likes his TE’s😊
I told the Chargers we needed our own version of Travis Kelce so he could find the open spots just in case Herbert needed a check down. I also mentioned student body left and right line sweeps ala John McKay back in the USC days. Also deploy screens.
The Chargers offense is to predictable.
Center please!!!!!
Makes me wonder if there is also something going on Gadsden and Dissley. TE production has been down the last few weeks.
My thing is why did we ever get Andre James because we have the worst center in the world and we never give James a chance I no damn well it couldn't be worse than Bozeman so…
