I can’t see him providing $20M/year in production next year, much less the following year when he turns 34, but I’m happy the Mets have the money to spare.
Crazy that he’s raised his profile the way he has but I loved cheering for him in the playoffs
I want to see Marc’s opinion on this
Like for like with Alonso obviously
2.6 fWAR last year, but 1.6 or worse for the 3 before. If he is as healthy and productive as last year, it’s a steal. I’d bet he gets to about 3 war over the life of the deal, but you have to outbid the other teams, so seems like a pretty neutral deal for them. Good for Jorge. Always enjoyed him.

Signing him to play first base is…a choice. Can’t say that’s a spot I would have expected him to ever play defensively but let’s see how it goes.
I bet the Twins just missed at 2 years/$4 million.
