Tampa Bay Lightning at New York Islanders | FULL Shootout Highlights – December 13, 2025

While Sroken has had his struggles in shootouts this season, Yonis Johansson is 0 for five in his career. He comes in. He went for the shot and it’s squeezed by Siroken. A little look behind him there as the best scorers in the league. It’s not the open spot. It’s be between the pads and the glove. And Sroen beautifully executed there. Making sure there’s just a sliver of space and closing it up quickly. Matt Barcel will be the first shooter for the Islanders. Coming straight in and scores. Picked his spot down low using the inside of the post to score the goal. And did he learn something from that partial break that he had? It was the exact same move he tried, but he wasn’t being pestered from behind. right there. That spot we tal about the goal scorer score below the glove above the pad off the post and in Braden Point’s got to get one here. Braden Point coming flying outside and he does the same thing. Wow. That’s just speed. And for any goalender to shoot it, you want to come out and then you sort of want to match speed and be measured as you come back. You see guys going laterally to go left and right. Point just went straight down the ice. Number 10. The first shootout of the season for the Tampa Bay Lightning as Simon Holmstrom. He’s got some moves. What does he have for us tonight? Stopped by Johansson. Well, we’ve seen that move from Holster before. You got a big man back there and Johansson. And he slides perfectly with him. You see Holstrom try to bait him a little bit. Go to the backhand and then it’s almost a stop. He’s so good at that move and it’s the toe right there of Johansson. Nikita Cooer, third shooter here for Tampa. Casually in save from Sroen and the Islanders will have a chance to win with a goal. A great job by Sroen staying with his countryman who comes in calm and composed and then almost looks like he tried to take a little bit off of this on the release. Good positioning by 30. Emil Heinman one for one this season, two for two in his career, has a chance to win it for the New York Islanders in the shootout. Score. A shootout winner for Heineman as the Islanders sweep the homestead and move into first place in the Eastern Conference. What a shot by his second one in a row that’s ended a game in the shootout. And got to love to see those smiles. First place in the Eastern Conference. Well, Islanders don’t play a ton coming up, but it’s an accomplishment getting to that point this season series against Tampa. It’s so big when you can sweep a team. Not only that, a really good team. And can you win in different ways? Can you win in a game that you have a shut out? Well, we saw that just last week in Tampa. Can you come in here and find a way to win a game that didn’t really have the game script that you wanted to? And that’s what the New York Islanders did. Second period sucked all the life out of this thing. They held on. They were good in their own end. They probably got outplayed. That doesn’t really matter cuz at the end of the day, they walk out with two points and sitting comfortably in first place. Let me reframe that. Not comfortably at all, but they’re sitting up there. And that’s something Sroen stared down a lot of pucks tonight. This group just banded together. Huge win here on home ice. It’s not only the amount of wins that the Islanders have picked up. It’s the quality of the opponents in which they’re playing as well. And they pick up yet another win. As you take another look at, you talked about the ice conditions, Thomas, and it probably favors the shooters. We know Heinman can shoot. Oh, he can sure rip that thing. I mean, he’s staring him down. Notice he doesn’t look down at the puck, not even one time. That allows him to size up the goalender. Am I going glove? Am I going blocker? Well, goalender, you don’t tip anything away when your eyes don’t go down. Especially on bad ice where most guys probably making sure that thing doesn’t come off their stick. How about that? A big hug. Schaefer, the first guy in. Everyone else goes to rejoice with Siroken. This group’s feeling good right now.
