So go check it out. All right, guys. The Utah Jazz got destroyed by the Oklahoma City Thunder 131 to 101. I we got to talk about the major story of this one because we go into this no SGA, no Lou Dort, no Alex Caruso, they were all resting and so the question for Utah was going to be well what are they going to do? And for how much I have talked badly this season about the front office and the ownership, you’ve got to give them credit when they do the right thing. And what did they do? They rested Lowry Markin. Now, they may not have had to because the Thunder are just so insanely it’s just surprise. Like honestly, I’ll be shocked the next time they lose a game, right? I mean, the fact that they’ve even lost one game, and I think it was to the Blazers of all teams is just kind of crazy. So, we’ll see when they lose another game, but just like it was against the Knicks, just like it was against the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Jazz did not look like a contender, nor particularly close. And so, they did rest. I gotta I gotta say though, I was extremely happy with the Jazz because there was a world where you play Lowry Markin and maybe Utah comes out and just plays much better, more spread. You know, we know that Utah with Lowry Markin playing has been a pretty good offense. So, against an underman team, there was there was an opportunity to get um another bad bad victory. And I know that sounds weird. It’s a weird season again. Next year we’re about wins, right? But this season we’re about draft picks and that’s what the Jazz need tonight showed. Again, Utah’s just not there. Utah could not stand with the Oklahoma City Thunder, you know, the rotation players on that team, not the stars, but you know, and they still had Cadet and it was the return of Jaylen Williams, I believe, who both of them are all-star caliber players. So, it’s not like we should be all that surprised that this Thunder team is still incredibly good cuz they are they are historically good. And so, you know, nothing to be too ashamed of, but Utah’s not close, right? To at least the level of the Thunder. They’ve got a long ways to go. And this team for the Thunder took a long time to build and it took a lot of patience and time and it was painful for 3 or 4 years. And they got all the jokes that we’re currently getting with like tanking and resting players and oh it looks like Shay’s resting again tonight. They got all of that and we’re in the midst of it and it’s painful but it’s worth it because if you talk can you know they got Ace Bailey in this one. If they can somehow get lucky and get a top three pick in this upcoming draft then things are going to get exciting. Um, and I’m just very proud and happy and grateful to the Utah Jazz front office and ownership that they did the right thing. They rested Lowry Markin. It’s fine. You weren’t going to win this game probably anyway. And, you know, I think this might be the first of many times because you look at this the Jazz standings now. they were going in the other direction towards what was really frustrating is Utah was not only outside of their own pick but look guess what one game if you don’t think it matters yes it does they’ve just passed Dallas if the lottery was today and they stay where they’re at they keep the pick completely worth it so they sit at eighth and when you look at these standings they’ve already dropped below Dallas who by the way is getting better Anthony Davis you know he still is injury prone, but he’s starting to play now and Cooper Flag is figuring it out. They’re a solid team and they are going to win more games than the Jazz most likely over the long haul. Uh Utah also has a real opportunity. I mean, I I the team they got to be honestly out of these three uh between Sacramento, the Clippers, and the Pelicans that they need to be the most careful about is probably the Kings cuz I believe the Kings own their pick and the other two don’t. Clippers owe their pick to uh the Thunder and the Pelicans owe theirs to the Atlanta Hawks and so they have no reason to win these games. I have a lot I I just I have a hard time believing that New Orleans isn’t going to start winning at least some more games. You know, they’ve had a lot of injuries. Zion is out again. Uh in fact, you know, what is the New Orleans Pelicans um injury report? Uh let’s see. They’ve got Jordan Pool out, which it sounds like they don’t want to have him even play. Uh Herb Jones hasn’t been playing. Zion Williamson out is out. De Jonte Murray’s out. Um so what in the world sometimes guys? Uh but anyways, I just have a hard time not seeing them get better. And yes, they’re extremely young. Yes, they are. Uh you know, they have some good players on that team. Um in fact, I want to go to their roster even. I just am actually surprised that they aren’t winning more than they are to be honest. Uh Fears has been playing good. Let’s see. The one that I really like, uh what’s his name? Where is he on here? Uh Trey Murphy. Uh I don’t know. I just have a hard time not seeing them win some more games. It would be crazy if they don’t win more. If And maybe that’s just me. I just How are they not winning more games? I think by the end of the season because they don’t have any reason to tank when they play all these other tanking teams. In fact, looking at this, I do want to go to uh remaining schedule strength. Utah is up here. Look, Utah’s schedule is not I mean, everyone’s been saying, “Oh, Utah hardest schedule.” I don’t know. Utah just got done with Oklahoma City, so they dropped here. Look at this. Not necessarily that hard, right? Right. I mean, 11 is tough, but n Oklahoma City, look, that’s what’s crazy about that. Uh, well, Oklahoma City has played an easier start to the season. That’s why their schedule’s harder. That’s interesting, actually. Um, but you go to the Pelicans, their their schedule’s easier than ours. They still got a lot of games against these teams to play. I think Utah has a real shot to get to maybe four or five, maybe even three. maybe even three cuz Indiana hasn’t been completely healthy either. Uh so if Indiana can get back um some of their guys, obviously they don’t have Hallebertton, but they’ve been so bad. Uh if they can get some guys back and these Eastern Conference teams just share wins with each other, Utah could. And I think I think three is like the max probably. I think that’s probably the max. More likely four, five or six in this range, right? But with the I just think the Clippers eventually are going to pass up Utah. I think Charlotte will. Charlotte’s just got too much talent and being in the East, they’re going to pass Utah at some point and they own their pick, so they’re not they don’t have to worry about losing it. Uh Clippers owe it. Pelicans owe it. I think we’ll draw up them. So that puts you at six. I think Utah can probably pass Sacramento and maybe Brooklyn if they start really doing their homework now. Brooklyn’s had some guys out as well. Michael Porter Jr. uh and so on. So, we’ll see. Brooklyn’s been playing well lately and we already saw him last year kind of ruin their standings, so we can do it again. So, if Utah can get to four or five, that locks in their pick. They will not lose it. And if you can get to four, that’s a 48% chance at top four. 100% chance to keep your pick. five. It’s a little bit less 39%, but hey, that’s pretty good odds, right? Or this I don’t think this is exactly right because these are tied, but right, that’s not bad. That’s not bad. And so Utah has a real shot to get a top a top four pick. And if it happens this year, it would be just incredible. And so you got to give credit to the to the New Or like what is it to Ryan Smith and Austin. Thank you for doing the right team. Finally. Uh, as far as the Oklahoma City Thunder go, they’re going to win the title this year. I would be really, really surprised if they did not. They just keep adding talent, young, athletic, strong talent that just they just know how to play defense in a way that Utah just doesn’t seem to know how to do. There’s just a physicality and athleticism to them. Um, all these players are young, athletic, but just smart, good, tough defenders, competitive. I mean, they’re just every single position. There’s no weakness. And, you know, Jaylen Williams was the head of the stank tonight. 25 points with Chad Homegrren as well. 25 for him. They are awesome. Jaylen Williams, with him fully healthy, it makes them even better. It’s scary to think how good they are. They’re just extremely good. I just I don’t see anyone beating him. I really don’t. If you think someone can, let me know in the comments, but I just I don’t see it. Uh for Utah, no Lowry Markin tonight, but So, let’s see. Kyle Filipowski enters the starting unit. He has nice offensive numbers there. Look at that. 21 points, 10 rebounds. Uh you’re just going up against an absolute juggernaut. Uh Key had a tough game and it was against those tough guards. Uh Kasem Wallace really took it to key. This is actually, you know, I I think Keante George is healthy today, but he did not uh play particularly well. Uh shoot shooting especially. Five rebounds, three assists. This was a tough game for Keonte George who’s been honestly the best player on the Jazz this year. And so when he’s playing like this, pretty rough. Uh SP Mik, we’re just not going to talk about SP. He needs to be traded because Utah needs to just give more minutes to their young guys. Uh Ysef Nerk, I don’t know if he’s quite right since he had that rib contusion or whatever it was that he was out for at least one game, but he goes just three for nine. I can’t honestly understand how he’s not better at making layups. It’s just crazy. But he just misses them and and everything close to the basket. But he did get eight rebounds and two assists. And so, you know, I don’t know. Not much else to say there. Ace Bailey had uh just an okay game. I honestly there’s not a lot to really say with this one. Utah has been so marketing centric that we shouldn’t be that surprised that when you take out the player that you’ve built everything around him, you know, Utah’s built this entire offense kind of around the strengths of Lowry Markin. So, we shouldn’t be surprised that now that you kind of take out that central cog, they didn’t play particularly well. But 32 minutes for Ace, I’m happy that he got him. 36 for Filipowski. Uh the shot wasn’t falling particularly well, but he continues to have solid three-point shooting percentage, which is nice to see. Also, four assists for Ace Bailey. Just really impressive stuff. The amount of of the imp just the passing overall from him has been really, really good. We talked about Keonte George. Not the greatest game tonight. It happens. Uh, looks like Kier and Sensiba had the same rotation. They went in for six minutes and they went out. It’s the Grandpa Simpson meme. Into the into the room, take off your coat. Turn around. Put your coat back on. Nice to see you. See you later. Uh Kevin Love also played in this game and and that’s basically what happened. Uh two assists, two uh basically guys, the Jazz got slaughtered. They just got slaughtered. I will say that one player that did play well was Walter Clayton Jr. This is now four games in a row where he has played well. In fact, ah man, it’s it’s just too bad that basketball reference doesn’t um doesn’t have up tothedate stats cuz if you could include tonight, but if we go to Walter Clayton. Oh, they don’t say junior. Just Walter Clayton. All right. Uh but anyways, if you look, here’s his last five. Uh let’s see here. Yeah. So, last four. Three for six, one for three, one for three from three. You can kind of see where things are turning around here as opposed to before. 44 from the field, 57 37. Houston’s a good basketball team, but he still, you know, that was the game where he really helped them beat that team cuz look at that. Six assists, eight points. Uh I was actually surprised that he was playing so poorly in that one stretch before. Now, he just he I just was surprised because he played so well in summer league. He played actually really well to start the season and then just kind of really fell off a cliff a little bit. And I don’t know if it was confidence thing. That is one thing we’ve got to watch because uh there is a clip out there. I guess I got to go retweet it. Um I don’t know. Maybe we can just share it here. Oh crap. I accident hit the wrong button. go back. But yeah, let’s see. Can we pull this up? This is from KO on the SLC dunk team. Can you hear that? Let’s turn this up. Listen to it. Let’s go. Let’s just watch this. We did the thing. We did Williams. The out of the way. I’m tired of doing this every game. play harder. Did you hear that? Tired of doing this every bleeping game. Bleeping. Play harder. Get the out of doing this every game. play harder. Oh, buddy. Let’s hit the old retweet. Retweet. Anyways, uh, and that might just be standard coaching, right? That’s just Will Hardy giving the old uh heyi ho, but not happy. Now, that might be a little unfair because it is against the Oklahoma City Thunder and they just really took the kind of the life out of the Jazz today, but you know, sometimes I’m like is really the only thing. Play harder, you know, do better. I don’t know. something to watch. That type of thing does happen a lot, I’m sure. Like I don’t think that’s probably all that uncommon. At least I’m not close enough to coaches and huddles to know, right? Like if I w So there’s no way to know if that’s regular or this is a little like uh I will say that Will Hardy yells a lot, like a lot. And at a certain point, if you’re in the hot tub and it’s super hot and you’re in there for a while, you get used to the heat, right? You’re getting yelled at every single day, then at a certain point, you just kind of get used to it. So, I don’t know. We’ll see. Something to watch. I don’t know if it’s a real issue or whatever, but certainly interesting. All right. Uh, but anyways, Walter Clayton played really well. And you know what else was extremely nice to see is a a solid at least shooting performance from Taylor Hendrickx who is only minus 9 in this one in a 30point loss. So really nice to see um Taylor Hendrickx play well and in a small way kind of frustrating because it would be nice to see Taylor Hendris get some minutes right like if he’s able to put up these numbers and shoot the ball like this why can’t he get on the floor? Why is uh like it goes back to the Sie Mik thing. Why is Si Mcky getting more um what’s it called? run and and uh priority than Taylor Hendricks. It doesn’t really make sense. Uh but one thing that I really like is that tonight the Utah Jazz really made it clear they actually care about the top eight pick and they showed it and I am happy about it. They deserve credit. This game could have been completely different. Uh, and you know, if the Jazz aren’t playing that hard and we know that they found out they’re resting guys, so that they’re trying not to win, that can take the wind out of the sales of a team. And that’s why, you know, someone who is not in agreement with me on some of these things might be like, yeah, that sucks if you’re playing to lose and that’s not fun for the players. And I agree, but to me, that’s a front office issue. Make the trades so that it’s not a big deal. Like you know what’s an easy fix to some of these? Trade Sv Mik, trade Ysef Nerkage, right? Then you can just play your young guys. If you want to keep Larry Markin, trade some of these core pieces like the SV Mix that are shooting the ball. And you know, even tonight, Si goes two for three. I He’s not a floor razor. He’s not a ceiling razor, but he is someone that can keep your level of play at a certain level. And uh I just, you know, his shooting has helped the Jazz win some of these games. I would prefer to just move on from SVI and let guys like Taylor Hendrickx get some run. And I tell you what, even Cody Williams because I feel like this is the last season to really kind of see with him. I just don’t know if I quite see it. He does have the length. He does defend well. So, who knows? he’s worth holding on to for really cheap in the future. Like honestly, just some of the guys you get from the G- League, is it really do they have a better opportunity to improve than actually uh Cody Williams does, but I wouldn’t mind seeing him some more this season if anything to just help the tank at worst and at best he starts figuring things out, right? The defense has proven to be there. It’s the offense that’s just really bad. And so that’s what I think we got tonight, guys, from this blowout loss. One step closer to a superstar. And then, yes, next year is going to be much more about winning games. I’m actually excited about it because it is more fun to just root for the team to win. It’s just more fun. But we got to keep the pick and we’ll see what this offseason has uh for us. It may be really, really interesting. So, we shall see. All right, guys. I think that’s all tonight. Um, let’s see. Let’s pull up uh the music here. Oh, let’s see. Hopefully you guys had are having a nice um holiday season and a nice few days. All right, let’s see. I had a nice weekend. Hopefully, you did. All right, let’s see. Let’s go to the tankathon tonight and let’s see what would happen if the lottery was today. Here we go. Utah loses the pick. Ah, it’s why it’s important for them to jump. Who jumped? Memphis did again. That’s like two nights in a row. What the heck? Ah, that would be so lame. Atlanta only gets the fifth pick and the Clippers add the number seven and the number nine. Holy crap. Could you imagine? Come on, Clippers. Get your act together. And come on, Jazz. Get your act together. All right, let’s give an all a shout out to the Allstars, guys. Let’s give a Steveino Stouser. Let him cook. Sturdy pots. Ezekiel Ricebe, the man from down under. Wait, let’s see. You know what? Is there any way to No. Uh, Tyson Price, the Price is Right. See youa, Lex Later, Jordan the Goat, best role, Christian House, Money to Hos, Robert Hall of Fame, Arcs, Poetica, I believe in Steve Jazz exile, Austin Grant, editor extraordinaire, Ke for three at PG, and Patrick Aubo the connoisseur. Guys, I hope you had a great weekend. I went and saw Nate Bargetti with Mrs. is Hoops Nerd. It was really fun. Shout out to them. The host might have been my favorite. Uh Julian something. Where's the sign?
You think with Lauri it had been a win, lol 🙂
13:30 Kevin Love understood the mission tonight #TankNote
15:37 Coach doesn't buy the secret mission #FTheTank
Key is not our best player this year. Not yet anyways
We want that Clippers top 3 pick the most🤷🏾♂️
Scary thing OKC avg draft position of starters tonight was 19. Only one was drafted 1-9 tonight, Chet. We passed on a lot of these guys in the draft. And we missed Carlson in our own backyard?
Without Lauri Key seemed like a sailing boat without sails. He had no real target that would generate room for his activities. Limited good looks :/
Will hardy is the best loser in nba history
Boomer!
Lost to the Blazers in a less than 24 hours back to back without Chet after giving up a 20 point lead.
Got to keep Cody so can overpay for j dub.
They should have rested lauri and key against the nets.
Resting Markkanen against the top team in the league means nothing. He should be rested against any teams BELOW them in the standings.
Sneaky OKC. Sitting SGA knowing another unscheduled win for the Jazz would HEAVILY sway their chances of taking our pick. I'm surprised Utah didn't take the bait. Maybe we aren't completely incompetent…
Why do jazz always tank lol
Will Hardy giving it to them. I don’t blame him, there wasn’t much effort given last night
You are LDS? promoting gambling. Haha. I am too and just bet on the under
Thunder missing Hartensteins Screens to open up some of the floor. Chet and iHart 2-man game is nasty and usually the go to opening bucket for OKC 😂
The Jazz need to lose a lot more to be competitive for a good draft pick.
I expected big games from J dub.. Chet .. & Wallace.. B.C. entered that game ON FIRE!! HE WAS KILLIN' IT!!😊
