The last few days have been frustrating, I know. But one thing the Mets have never lacked for is legendary announcers. So in that vein….keep the change ya filthy animals – and enjoy the one, the only…Ralph Kiner

I wonder who is going to take over after Gary. Very big shoes to fill
God look how young Gary looked there
I remember Ralph Kiner doing a few innings during wpix games in the 2000s. He could be tough to listen to because of his advanced age and slow, sometimes confusing way of speaking. My ex girlfriend HATED when he came on lol. I enjoyed the stories he shared from his playing days. I actually didn’t know he did play by play for the Mets, it seems like he was always…interesting to listen to lol. It has to be rare for such a prominent former player to actually do play by play correct? Those roles usually go to broadcast pros and former players are almost always color commentary.
I always thought Tim McCarver got the very best out of Ralph. He got Ralph to tell so many great stories from his playing days that I had never heard before Tim got there.
I love GKR but I do miss the McCarver/Kiner booth.
This is why my Reddit name is what it is.
Players come and go. But GKR are forever (shhh)
Did you guys like Fran Healy?
“It’s Mother’s Day, so to all the mothers out there… Happy Birthday!”
My screen name is a kiner-ism!
I don’t remember Gary doing TV prior to SNY. I only remember him from the FAN.
I grew up with Bob, Ralph and Lindsey. Used to watch Kiners corner of channel 9 after the games. Some bad teams back then but always good announcing.
