[Wheeler]: Team Canada’s lines for their first World Junior camp practice today

Martone is going to shine this tourny, but man it hurts to see that Luch is currently being treated like an extra. Still early though
Going to be a shame when they lose to Latvia because they’re not giving their best playmakers a chance and playing Cole Beaudoin as the 1C again.
Tough for Jett, hopefully he gets a look before the tourney starts. Seems like Canada is looking for size and physicality to go with McKenna, but I’d easily put Jett and Bear over Sam O’Reilly
Utah has to be licking their chops at Beaudoin, Iginla, and Desnoyers on lines 1, 2, and 3.
We can cope about it all we want but I’m sure the coaches on team Canada have a better understanding of who the most talented players on the team are, and sadly for us, JL is at the bottom of that list.
If he showed any past evidence of why they are incorrect I wouldn’t be as concerned. But sadly, he has not.
Edit: Please see comment from u/hagan1031 stating that the original lineup tweet was incorrect. He posted a link with the amended reported lineup with Luchenko at 3C.
Should we as fans lower our expectations for Jett(offensively) or is it this just a case of Canada having stacked rosters? Obviously just day 1 so usually coaches just mix and match players in the early goings.
Is Jett a slightly more gifted version of Laughton? Laughton produced well offensively his last 2 years at juniors but obviously never became a true top 6 center.
Did fans not see this kid struggle mightily in his cup of tea with the big club this year ? Why do you think Luchanko would be guaranteed a spot with the roster Canada has?
Stolen from a comment in the r/hockey thread – Jared Brown has him higher up in a response tweet. They likely started practice going last because Martin was delayed getting to camp.
Makes more sense than both Bear & Jett being extras. Still 3C but not as doom & gloom as it seemed
13th overall pick for Canada’s 14th Junior forward, after a trade down. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
I love how some think Luchanko is going to be 4C. For those who think that, do you know anything about Dale Hunter? He LOVES players like Luchanko. They can do it all with minimal instruction because they pay attention to details. He’s going to get a ton of minutes this tournament. From last year to this year, I’ve been to 41 Guelph games (haven’t gone to any Brantford games yet) and Luchanko can win face-offs, he’s an elite skater with one step acceleration, he’s got elite hands and vision in terms of his passing game, he’s instinctive with great defensive ability and he’s incredibly smart. A great example of what Luchanko could be if he hits? Dylan Larkin of Detroit. That’s Luchanko in a nutshell.
Can’t wait for everyone to br proven wrong when Jett’s a top 6 anchor for this team a few years from now.
I want verhoeff so bad
If Jett was what he was with Frost’s handles and offense he’d be a SOLID 3C. That my hopes. I’m hoping he gets a shot this tournament. So tired of being doom and gloom on the guy but if he barely gets a shot in the juniors imma be disappointed.

Luchanko being the extra forward again.
