  2. DAY 392 (1005/505) on THE ROAD TO THE 2026 6TH WBSC-MLB WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC – Looking Back, Turning Forward: The Amateur Community Leagues

An often overlooked member of the baseball community is the amateur community leagues, who, outside of the minors, independents, pro leagues and collegiates, continue the more than two centuries of links of the sport with the local communities they serve.

This year, thanks to social media, the fame of the community leagues is growing even more. Given that these teams are based in the local communities, they also contribute, not just to the promotion of the sport and the preservation of the history and cultures of the sport in these communities, but also in the expansion of interest and winning new fans in these areas.

As the inheritors and successors to the early years of the sport before the creation of the first professional leagues in the USA, once more these community leagues have distinguished themselves once more as a vital part of a sport that is indeed once again on the onwards march reaching out to even more nations and whose next generations are trained in part in these community leagues.

Expect surprises from these leagues next year.

    For Glory

    John
