Berkly Catton has a hand injury that will keep him out of the WJC. Luchanko will only be in competition with Misa and O’Brien, is older than them and the only returning guy, tho Misa should’ve been there. How do you see the lineup looking and where does Jett play?

  1. I think one of them gets kicked out to the wing, probably Misa. So, there is a lot of opportunity for Jett in the top 6.

  2. Currently at the practice he’s one of the extra forwards not in the main lineup.

So if he’s in, most likely 3rd or 4th line center, Pk role.

  3. Misa is also currently out injured again and will miss the start of the world juniors camp. Definitely something to monitor for Jett’s usage. I like his odds for at least being the 3C.

I found it surprising on the latest Athletic Hockey Show podcast that they were speculating O’Brien could be a bubble guy. I’d be shocked if he was actually cut but he might not be penciled in as a top of lineup C like I was expecting.

  4. Jett should be the 3C. His attention to detail and defensive awareness is prime for that role. He can face top lines and not only shut them down defensively, but be a threat offensively with his playmaking ability. Use Carter Bear on one side and Tij Iginla on the other and you’ve got a demon forechecking line with two finishers and a superb playmaker.

4C? Please. He’s playing for Dale Hunter and Dale Hunter loves players like Jett Luchanko. He’s going to get a ton of ice time.

  5. I’d love for them to put Luchanko with Martone. Interesting to see if they’d mesh well. Add a pure shooter to the mix and could be really good.
