MAJOR Miami Heat Rumors! BIG MOVE COMING?

What’s up Heat fans? Welcome to Heat Report by Chat Sports. I am Nick Roloff and we have a lot to discuss today because believe it or not, the Miami Heat may make a roster move sooner rather than later. And no, we are not going to be talking about a blockbuster trade for a Giannis Antthony Kmpo or a John Morant on this show. Those videos will continue to come, which is why you need to be subscribed, by the way. But we’re going to talk about how we need to sign a player and how Miami may look to go out and sign a free agent. And you’re going to be like, Nick, what are you talking about here? Well, the Heat actually have an open roster spot. We have 14 players under contract right now. You are allowed 15. But the reason Miami has not filled that 15th spot to this point is because making a signing would have put them over the luxury tax threshold. As we know, they are currently 1.6 $.6 million underneath that threshold. And Miami does not want to go into the luxury tax this season. It’s one of their largest goals. Now, if they need to make a trade to get like a Giannis or like a AllNBA superstar level guy, then yeah, they’re going to go into the luxury tax. That’s not going to hold them back. But in terms of signing a free agent, yeah, it will hold them back for now. But with the way the NBA is constructed with roster spots and financial things, there is now an opportunity for Miami to sign a free agent. Saturday the 13th marked the first day the Heat could sign a veteran to a pro-rated minimum contract without exceeding that $1.6 million threshold to go into the luxury tax. So, if you’re hearing me correctly, Miami can go out and sign a veteran at any point right now to a pro-rated pro-rated league minimum contract and not cross that tax threshold. Now, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald did kind of throw some water on that fire, if you will, that he reported the expectation is the Heat won’t immediately fill its open standard roster spot in part to preserve salary cap flexibility for potential trades and maybe late season signings. So, yeah, Miami is able to sign a free agent if they wanted to right now, but there is no guarantee they will. And according to Anthony from the Herald, he believes that Miami actually isn’t going to go out and do that anytime soon. I think Miami should at least explore the idea of going out and adding another player to this roster because Miami does lack something that we’ve talked about in the past, and that is big man depth. I think Miami is go add another center ASAP. Obviously, they have Bameio and KL Wear who people already want Khal Wear to get more minutes and understandably so because he has flashed some massive potential this season, but in a couple games including the one against the Magic in the NBA Cup where Miami got eliminated where only played 12 minutes off the bench in that game. So, people are wondering, all right, why would you want to add another big if you can’t even get We were wear minutes. But I think you need to add a third big to just create an opportunity for wear to be mentored even more potentially. But also, god forbid an injury happens to a bam at a bio or a klet wear. Where are you going to go for that second center because the other one would obviously just still continue to start. That was a major issue for Miami when Bam missed those handful of games earlier on the season because they had to play Nicola Yoic at small ball center. And boy oh boy, Yovic has done a lot of poor things this year. He is not a backup center. So I think having a depth center makes a lot of sense. And since it won’t kill you and you could just cut them at any point and still have some flexibility financially, I think it’s a move that Miami absolutely should pounding the table to do. And the question is, who do they sign? Well, before I get into the top list of free agents that are still out there, I’m going to ask you, who should the Heat sign in NBA free agency? Well, if I’m just going to call Spade a Spade, there aren’t a ton of good free agents available, especially at the big man spot. I think there’s really only five, four guys that really intrigue me. And I think that a signing would make more sense if the Heat needed a guard or a wing more than a big man. I think the best big man still available in fency might be Mo Bomba, but as we know like Mo Bomba isn’t very good. He’s long. He’s lengthy. He can block some shots at the rim. But his slow foot speed laterally and his inability to ever find an offensive role is why Bomba, after being a top 10 pick in the NBA draft out of Texas, really never found the role in the spot in the NBA that he was searching for. So Mo Bomba is certainly a player that I’m intrigued with if the Heat wanted to go with a center. I’m sorry if you hear someone yelling in the background, busy day here at Chat Sports. But at center, there really isn’t a lot of other good options. Like Tristan Thompson might be another top option for the Miami Heat. And actually, I gotta be honest, like Thompson got a little bit of run over the last couple years with the Cleveland Cavaliers as their third center behind Evan Mobley, behind um Jared Allen, and he got some minutes in mop-up duties as well as some blowout game. So, I do think Tristan Thompson is a guy that intrigues me. Also would be a good veteran presence potentially for KL Wear. Not that the Heat desperately need that. at Bam Edabio is a pretty solid uh veteran that can obviously teach um Khal Wear a lot, but Tristan Thompson’s an intriguing guy. More players coming up here in a second, but this episode is brought to you by Prize Picks. It’s the holiday season. We got basketball games, playoff pushes, bowl matchups, and while we’re all making decisions, what gifts to buy, what to eat, and what games to watch. Well, there’s one place on prize picks or where it’s good to be right, and that is on prize picks. Shout out to them for sponsoring today’s show. New feature alert, early payouts. If your lineup gets off to a hot start, you might not have to wait till the game finishes to cash out. Just pick more or less and at least two player stat projections and you can get your winnings. You want flexibility, go with the flex play. You want the biggest payouts, go for the power play. I’m looking at Monday Night Football between the Dolphins and Steelers. I’ve had so much success going with Devon Achan more on fantasy score. I’m going more this week on his rushing yards, 83 and a half. I paired that up with less than on Jaylen Warren rushing yards 47 and a half and less than on Malik Washington receiving yards at 22 and a half. That is code CLNS to get $50 in lineups after you play your first $5 lineup prize picks. It’s good to be right. Some other free agents that are intriguing to me. If you’re looking at uh the front court additions, there’s BBO. I I don’t love that addition. He can shoot it for sure. He’s an intriguing guy, but he is not what Miami needs in terms of a center that can just board up and defend inside. He is very weak. He gets babyed by physical centers. He’s more of like a wing if we’re going to be honest. This is a weird archetype that Bull Bull ultimately possesses. Obviously, the biggest name out there on this entire list that I’m going to talk about is Ben Simmons. But once again, why would you bring in Ben Simmons at this point? He is basically Nicola Yovic, but Yoic is a better three-point shooter even though he’s shooting 20% this season. Like, sure, Ben might be a slightly better defender, but he’s never able to stay on the floor. He’s not aggressive offensively. I just think Ben Simmons is a popular name and obviously the former number one overall pick. I just don’t think it makes a lot of sense for Miami to add him. I don’t think that it would happen. Um, Bernie Lee was his former agent. Now, I think they actually parted ways, but I don’t see Ben Simmons as a realistic option for the Miami Heat. I mentioned earlier, but it would make more sense if the Heat needed a guard. There’s a lot of interesting guards out there that could be signed. Campaign, Dennis Smith Jr., Monty Morris, like those are veteran guys that can come in and help contribute right away. But my thing is, I don’t want another guard. We already have a guard that I want to see on the floor some more as the season progresses that hasn’t got any run to this point and that’s our first round pick Casper Yakonis. You drafted him 20th overall and even though I believed he wasn’t going to get a lot of playing time this season because they have Hero, they have Powell, they have DaVon Mitchell, they have Drew Smith and we know how much Coach Spo likes Drew Smith. I didn’t forecast a lot of opportunities for Yakonis this season. But I think it’s time that we need to start seeing the rookie because the Heat haven’t been playing good ball over the last two weeks and maybe something needs to be changed. And maybe it is the insert an insertation, is that a word? I don’t know, of um Casper Siakonis into the lineup. But if you want to go with like a younger guy, you can bring back Zion Pullen, who was on a two-way with us at one point last season. You can bring in Tristan Newton, who was on a two-way with the Pacers, I believe, last season. I really like Tristan Newton coming out of college, a veteran guard that played at a high level for the Yukon Huskies, won a national championship. He’s an interesting guy I think the Heat would always like. But if you wanted my true honest answer, if the Heat actually ended up signing anybody over the next month to a veteran m minimum contract and added as a 15th player, I think it would be no one other than Alec Burks. A lot of people thought it would have been preach. He signed with the Kings and he’s actually been playing relatively fine for Sacramento. But the reason why I believe it’s Alec Burks, you’ve seen Yovic be not really productive at all this season, especially from three. Simony Fonteo has really started to struggle from beyond the ark over the last two, three weeks in those last 10 games. Alec Burke shot 42% from three last season for Miami. It was reported back in August that there’s still interest from both Burks and Miami to potentially have a reunion for this season. And with Burks still being a free agent, I believe Miami would reach out to Alec and try to bring him back in, especially with the Heats three-point shooting really declining in efficiency over the last couple of weeks. So, yeah, I want a big man, but I don’t think there’s a lot of good big men out there in free agency. So, if you are asking me who I think Miami would sign if they actually brought someone in over the next month, it would be Alec Burks. And if the Heat make any signing, we will have you covered with a video. We will be live again on the channel this upcoming Thursday for the next Miami Heat game. Unable to go live on Monday because the Dolphins are playing unfortunately. Um, not unfortunately because they’re playing much better football as of late, but you get what I mean here. 2. Riley isn’t going to sign another center, especially a vet, until he see’s Spo giving Ware 25 minutes every night. He doesn’t trust Spo to play the young guys instead of the young big guys.

Rolly Burks is your best idea I’ve ever seen you have. Good job!

  3. You’re a complete moron no offense I’m not trying to be an asshole. I’m not a basketball buff or anything that used to be but who the hell are they gonna sign that would make any difference at this point
