Danny Briere just quit, (job was too stressful).
Xfinity has called you to replace him, & they support whatever plan you have for the team’s current, & furry direction with the roster.
Are you signing Zegras, & looking to move your younger players for immediate help at center and/or defense?
Are you trading him & other players at the deadline for picks & starting a strip it down rebuild?
When Quinn Hughes went to Minnesota it made me wonder what Briere’s doing?
I understand we didn’t have a center like Rossi to offer, but word is one of Michkov or Martone may have been included in an acceptable package.
The consensus is that this team’s greatest needs are a top line center & top defender.
My rationale is if we sign Zegras that’s Konecny, Zegras, Coots, & Tippett with Sanhein, York & potentially Drysdale, & Forester all signed long term.
Are we still rebuilding with a core of players already signed long term & a team no longer finishing low enough to draft high enough to matter?
Or does anyone feel the current core is good enough to add one or two high end pieces?
Or should this current roster be torn apart now?

  1. I send Zamula to the moon. I send Hathaway to retrieve him, but don’t give him enough fuel, and i tell Tocchet to play Michkov the way he should be played or go away. And EXTENDING Zegras

  2. Tell Tocchet to wake the fuck up & play Michkov. As if Brink, TK & Coots aren’t making mind numbing mistakes every game too & he NEVER cuts their TOI.

As for trades I’m shopping Tippett + a prospect around to see the best C or D we could get.

If teams r willing to give up a 1st or a prospect equal to a 1st I’m flipping Dvorak.

Offering Foerster 8×6.5 – 7.0. probably aiming for bridges with Zegras and Drysdale. Gotta see more than 1 season to go long-term at a good #.

Hiring the best PP coach one can find to a lifetime deal because goddamn I am over having a garbage one.

  3. Trading Tippett is probably my number one priority

He has all of the tools except for finish and situational IQ, which hurt him a lot

I can swallow keeping Dvo (even if his value is higher) if we can trade Tipper

  4. Tippett is gone by the summer. It’s clear he needs a Montreal/Colorado-style rush offense to be effective and Tocc wants a possession style offense. He’s probably our best trade chip to get an effective center.

  5. Bolstering depth to hopefully make the playoffs but lose in the first round for the next few years so I can keep my job for a little

  6. If I was appointed GM today I wouldn’t pretend that I immediately know all the behind-the-scenes ins-and-outs. First order of business is to call everyone in for a full week of meetings before I make any stupid decisions

  7. Abols Delo Hathaway free agents sign Zegras and Dvorak actively shop Tippett Brink Risto and Zamula after the season any other moves will depend on the finish of the season and if Martone comes and if Luchenko needs time in Lehigh or not Murcheson and Andrae are making their cases to be a bigger part of the plan too also a lot hinges on Zavragin in terms of Mr Ersson

  8. The problem we have right now is we need both a 1C and a 1D, and we’re trying to compete without either of those ahead of schedule. Even worse, while we may have the assets to swing a trade for one of those things, we definitely don’t have the assets to acquire both.

The good news, I think anyways, is we definitely have some good pieces to compete with and we don’t need to blow up the team (not that we could anyways). The bad news is we’re trying to cheat our rebuild and compete ahead of schedule, shooting ourselves in the foot.

Coming into this season I viewed it as a season that we would be prioritizing development. We had previously stated that the 26-27 season was the season we were looking to turn a corner and seriously compete. I had expected us to do things like play Zegras as primarily center, expand Michkov’s playing time, bring up some of the kids like Bump and play him along with Grebenkin, and I dunno…not actually start Andrae in the minors again. I was expecting to let the kids play, struggle, and learn with the obvious result being another lottery eligible pick to hopefully get a shot at one of those things, but we’re not doing any of that.

At the risk of sounding like a doomer, I don’t see a lot of good options right now. In the short term, Dvorak needs to go at the trade deadline. We need to hope he keeps chugging along putting up points, and we can sucker a team into giving us a good pick and high end center prospect as a result.

Beyond that, I’d be looking to clear out a couple wingers, particularly Tippett either at the TDL or in the offseason with the hope we could find a middle pairing, true PPQB somewhere for him. That would be my immediate moves anyways (beyond firing Tocchet immediately).

  9. I have years of experience in this field.

What you do is you traded a guy and a 7th round pick for a guy that’s one overall better and a future 7th round pick.

You do this until you have the 1985 Oilers

  10. Trade Konecny and don’t be worried about making the playoffs although Briere won’t do that.

He’s a good overall player but will be in 2-3 more years?

What I worry about would be how the team would react. A new GM makes this possible though.

  11. Go to Kamino and clone Clarke, Barber, Howe, Lindros, LeClair, Gagne, Pronger, Kimmo, Desjardins, Brind’armor, Primeau, Hextall, and Bouch. They come out of the tubes at 26, all in their prime and sign them all to eight year x 5 mil contracts.

But jokes aside, really just try and move Tippett and some pieces for someone who has legit 1C potential. Danny’s really got no complaints from me

  12. The Lightning fan is here. Tippet for Bjorkstrand, Raddysh, Conor Geekie and 2nd round. Worth it?

  13. Id go full Paul Homer mode, immediately go trade for Rasmus Anderson, pry away the beloved John Tavares from Toronto, add a legit 4th liner, and then let the kids go hunt for the cup.

  14. Am I stuck with tocchet (he’s ok but not who I would want)or not? If not I would have offered the moon to brind’amour this past summer who I think is the most underrated coach in the league. If I’m stuck with tocchet I figure out which high end guys aren’t going to fit his system and trade them before their value tanks for someone that does fit his system. I wouldn’t have gone after Hughes. Whether that’s tk/mich/tip etc. Zamula is waived. Hathaway is out for awhile until he looks remotely like himself before their value tanks concussion. Try to be patient and wait for gm’s to make panic moves like the rangers last year or canucks with Hughes. And I wouldn’t enjoy the shit out of watching every flyers game from a box.

  15. 1. 8-year extension for Zegras

    2. Trade Tippett for a 1st (someone will bite; he’s worth it and a playoff team will def go for it)

    3. Trade Hathaway and Zamula for whatever is possible

    4. Field trade calls for Coots and Risto. Won’t expect much, but any team interest will be considered. I want them both gone while keeping draft picks in rounds 1-3. I will retain a part of Sean’s contract if it gets us a decent pick back, but not 50%.

    5. Force Toccet to change his lineups, while warning him that his seat’s hot

    6. 3-year Drysdale extension

    7. Will explore 1C and 1D options, without doing anything stupid or aggressive. We’re still rebuilding. I’m not pulling a Quinn Hughes-like trade off.

    8. Listen to the fans, and consider their opinions

    9. Emphasize Michkov, Zegras, and Martone as 3 key pieces of our future

    10. Release an official statement declaring my hatred for Chuck Fletcher

  16. I would trade konecny for a center, resign Z. Hope bjarnason can play big boy league next year. Take something, or 2 somethings from Buffalo for draft picks and prospects. Cough cough Tage thompson. And finally, craft a goddamn black alt jersey that isn’t clown mode giant sleeve numbers. Also I’m keeping Torontos pick, I think they are going to be hot ass cheeks and we are going to get it pushed to a unprotected 2028.

If they can get Elias pettersson for cheap and maybe a couple milli chopped off, why not. Vancouver clearly doesn’t mind trading talent. ( i am glad we didn’t give up what Min gave up for Hughes (Who looks PISSED during any media coverage I’ve seen over the last 24 hours))

2027 and 2028 PHI 1st rounders are and should be disposable if it means we get a critter who can fucking score on the powerplay.

Also call up Bump. Hathaway can sharpen the skates in a storage closet for the season he will be doing more for the team.
