Avalanche Mailbag 1.0: Burns’ Cap Hit, The Futures of Girard and Malinski, & Bednar’s Jack Adams Bid

Unfortunately for Girard he’s injury prone as well as been replaced in serviceability. Same thing happened to Tyson Barrie who was much better. Down vote me all you want
I’m a huge Girard stan – I don’t want him traded. That being said, Aarif is right that we may need to in order to afford a Malinski contract.
We are deep, but I don’t think we are that deep defensively. Do we really want Solovyov to be our first man up when someone gets injured? He was somehow the only guy to have a negative +- on the Avalanche.
So maybe a good move is to trade Girard for a Dman that is worse than Girard, better than Solovyov, and much cheaper. But why would you get worse before the playoffs? No this needs to wait for the offseason.
Also worth nothing that Girard and Malinski are the same age – so it’s not like Malinski is our long-term future that we need to move mountains to get signed. We can afford to be patient.
