Dirty hit or otherwise you can’t jump in from bench without suspension. Laval got away with a lot here. Yeah yeah if this happens to one of our players reaction would be similar but we’d certainly be handed the appropriate discipline.

In any case, this is a spark plug leafs could use on our bottom 6. Especially in post season even if only for one game.

Pezetta laid a questionable hit which led to three suspensions on both teams but it should have been like 10+ for Laval. The amount of people swinging on the bench or 2-4v1 against marlies players is wild.

  1. Pezetta should’ve gotten 10 for that, but the lil habs should’ve gotten a couple more too

  2. That was a very dirty hit. You’d love to see that response to it from our own club. Unfortunately the reaction wouldn’t be similar.

  3. Can we get a better video of the hit? I’m neither a leafs fan nor a Habs fan but from the clip here, it looked like interference and nothing more. Looks like a 2 minute minor to me.

  4. meh if you’re gonna throw a hit like that, I don’t mind if the other team loses their shit. It’s the kind of response I’d want from the Marlies if their player was on the receiving end

also as far as I know Laval had 3 or 4 players suspended

  5. I can’t believe there weren’t longer suspensions given out.

The original hit wasn’t great, and I’m not sure what Pezzetta was thinking starting shit in front of the Laval bench after already being in 1 fight, but there are like 8 Laval players on the ice in the fracas, as well as guys throwing from the bench.

Does the AHL not have automatic suspensions for leaving the bench for an altercation? Is it not an automatic 10 gamer in the NHL? I would have expected the AHL to have a very similar rule.

  6. I always found it ironic that, potential intentional head contact = suspension.

Repeated close first blows to the face = skate it off, buck-o.

Hockey is fucking stupid and I love it.

  7. As we clearly learned from the Ottawa/Greig slapshot game, the events preceding a suspendible event don’t matter except when those events are made by a Maple Leaf

  8. It’s a shame the way hockey is nowadays, the bench had to watch that and not do anything about it. I wish they could jump over the boards without fear of suspensions, coach suspensions, fines, etc…

  9. Marlies’ Parsons basically jumped on the Rocket’s bench going into Belzile. It was funny to see live.

  10. That hit wasn’t questionable. It was a pure blindside headshot with seconds left in the period of a 4-0 game. Joke of a league only gave him 3 games. He’s such a plug at least he won’t miss much actual ice time.
