Jim Harbaugh Postgame Press Conference Vs Chiefs | LA Chargers

Hey, just before I get started, uh just um just hope Patrick’s okay. Um he’s the one of the greatest competitors of all time. Uh in the history of the game and total respect for him and um just hope he’s okay. Prayers and thoughts are with him. Hope he dodged a bullet. What are your thoughts after that? Uh tremendous team win. Um, we’re going to look at the the contributions from from Adafay and Dan Henley and uh Tuli and Khil and um offensively um Keandre Lambert Smith steps up. Trey Harris steps up big. Um Justin, offensive line, everybody battling, running backs, uh special teams, everybody. Um total team win and and like my wife Sarah said, I mean, give G give Derwin James the game ball and give him everything else in the building. Uh he he is the tone setter. He is the engine that drives this uh entire operation. uh in our family’s opinion. Uh we just love them. Love them. Love them. And uh great team win. Let’s go beat the Cowboys. Defense has been playing. I mean these past few weeks has been playing at a really high level. You’ve been impressed that what Jesse’s done since that game. You guys have been I’m Jesse Mter’s biggest fan. I don’t know of anybody who’s a bigger fan than uh Jesse Mter than than I am. In fact, uh the Harbaughs love the mentors. Um just been been great. Uh team defense, I mean, running to the ball. Um just call calling uh calling a great game and and and coordinating it, getting it getting us ready for it. Um I thought all of our coordinators um were really locked in. I mean, uh they were just in the zone all week. Um, Greg Roman, a game plan that I mean on Wednesday presented it to the team and uh, you know, he was it was really really good. Coached a great called a great game. Ryan Ficken um, and our special teams again just um, coldblooded just operating uh, executing uh, felt like you know we’re going to have to play uh, our best game. I just really hope that I hope we would play play our best and I really thought we did that and at halftime that’s that’s what we said that’s uh we’re in a good spot now let’s go play our best half of football of the season and uh our guys did and um feels tremendous great great thrill of victory feel like Jackson feel confidence of this team is starting to grow as momentum wise connected you know, I’ve talked to that about that. Uh, you know, you ask, can can can the team draw, you know, any tighter? They’re they’re I mean, they’re they’re they’re tight. Fates are intertwined. Uh, you know, they it’s unselfish. There’s nothing uh you know, that uh anybody is doing for for themselves. It’s all for the glory of God and for for this team. And um it’s a it’s a it’s a ball team. This is a ball team. uh starting to think of this as my favorite ball team that I’ve ever been on, you know, and I think I’ve been on a lot of been on some good ones. Uh none better than this ball team. And when you’re on a ball team, a real ball team, uh you know that you just give it your best, keep getting better, and you don’t have to do it yourself. There’s every other guy, you know, 53 uh guys that go out there. Um you know, they’re playing as one, and it’s it’s a it’s a ball team. Love these guys. Defensively, it feels like the group is turning into something that you can rely on, you know, in some of these games where maybe offensively it’s up and down. How far can this defense take you playing right now? Yeah, I think our guys are playing great uh offensively, defensively, special teams. Um, you know, tremendous football. Uh, a tough environment. You got to come in, you got to beat another team that’s and everybody’s fighting for their playoffs lives right now. Everybody’s laying it on the line. Everybody’s competing. You see that um in a but you know then to do it beat the other team but you know beat the crowd you know beat the uh had some elements had to beat the elements too. I mean makes you feel like a man. Uh really proud of our team. What did you see on the play? Um, I didn’t uh I saw a football play. It’s what I saw and um you know was told that that was uh that was the ruling and um New York saw it as an objection and so you know message to our team is just keep playing ball, just keep playing. Uh but I thought Tony uh I mean saw all legal hits from what I saw. Um didn’t see that that particular hit, but um our guys were playing ball and they they uh didn’t let that didn’t let that uh emotionally hijack us and uh just keep playing ball. What does that mean to you? Um, yeah. What what uh can’t be five camp? Yeah, just where you want to be in the division. Um, so did we did we uh did our guys get the job done? Yep. Uh, you know, now it’s on to onto the Cowboys. Those two drives in the middle eight getting a touchdown before the half and coming out with a field goal. Huge. Just how crucial were those two possessions and also some of the plays that Justin made late in the half. How crucial was that stretch for you guys? Uh that was that was huge. Uh started with uh Keandre’s kick return to the 40 yard line. Then Trey Harris makes an incredible play. Then the execution was was uh flawless throw. Uh perfect. And then uh you know great uh great play by Keandre Lambert Smith to finish it off with the with the touchdown. That was uh that was big. Then we got the ball back and uh able to put another really good drive together uh coming out of the half. Um yeah, the throw that uh that Justin made to to Ronda Gatson uh that play um you know again it’s it’s limited to uh the very best in the game that are able to do that. So much has happened between opening season now. What do you think is the common thread that keeps this team going from that? Very tough man plus faith. Jim, just specifically defensively didn’t feel like you gave any anything in terms of like second plays getting outside the pocket, you know, and off script situations. How pleased were you with the way you guys rush from a discipline standpoint and then also the way you guys were able to cover some of those like plays like interception. Yeah, I I thought our guys did a great job uh you know, playing the defense, playing the scheme, but uh but but playing the play, playing the play and uh not uh not not giving up. I mean, just continue with the pursuit. Dan did a great job in in the uh the downs that he had. Um Patrick on the on the sp as a spy and uh ran him down, contained him. Uh, I thought it was uh that that was huge for us. Jim, does I know you as the opponent, but the Chiefs have a lot of history with a lot of people in the locker room in your front office. Joe Ortiz in Baltimore to win this game from the playoffs. Does that have an added importance for you at all? Uh, it was the most important game of the season because it was it was this game. Now the most important of this game of the season is uh is uh the Cowboys. So uh yeah, we’ll move on with humble hearts and uh get ready to play that. We got we got more work to do. What do you think of the way? He didn’t have a sack before he got here. Now he has seven homes twice today. Can you just describe his impact? Uh it’s he uh it’s our edge rushers. Uh Adaf has been a a great ad. I mean, Joe Hortiz uh tremendous made a tremendous addition uh to the club, uh Tulie, um Adafud, uh all those all those guys. I mean, they’re playing playing great football right now. So, um total team win. Uh edges were were phenomenal. U guys up front, Tiar Tart’s playing his best football. uh Otto, uh Deshawn Hand, uh Jamari Caldwell, what a great addition. Uh love having him on our team and u it’s great and love Derwin James. I don’t know if I mentioned that before. Uh if I be remiss be remiss if I did not mention Derwin James. Uh he’s the tone setter, the engine. It’s uh it’s amazing. But Adaf Yeah. uh you know to come in and he got a sack the first game he was here. Uh the pressure he not always the sacks it’s the it’s the it’s the pressure it’s it’s it’s playing the play. It’s it’s um you know keeping the pressures um you know all those things. Tony Jefferson I mean Tony Jefferson had four interceptions his his entire career. He’s had four interceptions this season with us. Uh guys playing uh playing really good really good football and and team football together connected. Uh onward
