What are these ratings based off?
He should switch to Bell Fibe
I dont know what this is but it fits what we’ve been seeing.
It almost as if the person who fed him the puck for 80% of his career goals was no longer around…..
I’ve said it before but they should have given him a year off this year and took a deliberate step back. Taking expiring deals and getting some picks could have set themselves up a lot better rather than searching the bargain bin to try to win. Oh well. See you in the next era. Whenever that is.
This breaks my heart. I really thought this group would be the one.
Now it feels the best we can hope is that Matthews ages with Dignity and is around to support the next core post rebuild (a la Jamie Benn / Seguin).
I’ll always remain hopefully but it feels the contention window is closing if not closed.

I am not that up on advanced stats, but his expected goals per 60 minutes are not that different than any other season. The difference is that his actual goals per 60 minutes were way above that stat from 2017 to 2023. They’ve taken a big dip in 2024 and 2025
So it’s hard to truly assess what’s going on.
But yes, let’s continue gaslighting the fanbase by saying he’s healthy …

Matthew’s very bad value for the leafs. 2nd highest paid player, while 110th in scoring.
Time for the organization or him to just come out and say what the injury is and clarify all this up

The team has been noticeably better since he has been back. We have asked for change after 9 years of not doing well in the playoffs. This stuff happens.
Look at Ovi’s goal totals. Guy hit his highest goals in a season in his third year. He ended up being the greatest goal scorer ever and you know what? Everyone bitched about his defensive game etc.
Look at Klingberg’s goal in OT last night. Who did he dance around? Crosby
We have had year over year heartbreak in the playoffs and having the BEST goalscorer in the game and it didn’t do anything for us.
Matthews is being deployed more defensively all year this year and has moments where he looks slow or injured.
Get off his back. Cheer on or just stop watching but this type of bullshit stats doesn’t help anyone

– Matthew Knies: 3G last 18 games
– Max Domi: 2G last 21 games
– William Nylander: 3G last 14 games
– John Tavares: 2G last 13 games
– Auston Matthews: 4G (1 ENG) last 10 games
That’s atrocious. From 5 of your top 6 at that. Tavares has one assist in his last five games. Nylander has two assists.
This is a much bigger problem than Matthews.
It makes sense bc that is what we are seeing on the ice. 2021-2022 was the last time I saw this guy take over a shift on the ice. It has been years since I have seen him step in the ice and take over a game.
I married a polish girl and this guys last name still gives me an aneurysm

The best part of this is how it projects into the future and knows he will suck in 26-27
Well maybe if the coach that just happened to take over when he dipped stopped playing him like hes alexander barkov and instead played him like the last coach did hed still be scoring 60. I like Berube but his use of Matthews is probably his worst quality
At this rate it wouldn’t surprise me if he retires after this contract due to back related injuries.
