Ottawa Senators vs Winnipeg Jets Game Day Preview: Both Teams NEED These Two Points | BOTG

On today’s show, it’s a game day preview. Two teams in desperate need of wins. It’s Ottawa in Winnipeg. We’ve got a full game day preview with lineups and keys to victory. This is Brad Kachchuck and you’re listening to the Locked On Senators podcast. You’re Locked On Senators, your daily podcast on the Ottawa Senators, part of the Locked On podcast network, your team every day. Welcome. You are locked on to the Ottawa Senators. I’m Ross Levitan alongside Brandon Pillar and today’s episode is brought to you by FanDuel. If you want to be right in the middle of the action this season, visit fanuel.com and place your live bets all season long. Today is Monday, December 15th, and Pilzy, it’s great to see you, brother. Yeah, it’s it’s actually been a while since uh we’ve seen each other in person, let alone did a live podcast because playoffs didn’t work. Home opener didn’t work. But here we are in Winnipeg, arguably the most important of all those games I just mentioned, a December game up against the Jets in what necessarily isn’t a losing streak, but certainly a slump when you look at the Ottawa Senators as we speak right now, tied for dead last. in the Eastern Conference. Yeah, you don’t pull up the standings today, Sans fans. Just don’t do it. Just focus on the task at hand, and that’s beating the Winnipeg Jets, a team that’s coming off a feel-good win where they not only dominate the Washington Capitals, but they get the MVP back. Connor Halabach was out and the goals against skyrocketed. He comes back and it took a late goal from Washington to break the shut out. He is the MVP for a reason, the back-toback Vzna Trophy winner for a reason. and he’s going to be a problem tonight for the Senators. But in no circumstance are we having a oh we got goalied game tonight. Well, no. I feel like this is the third game this has been pressed on me. And if we’re going to get goalied again by a Vzna winner, that is more I don’t want to say acceptable, but you can justify getting goalied by a back-to-back Vzna winner. But Ross, I really thought the Ottawa Senators were going to dodge two bullets. Quinn Hughes traded to the Minnesota Wild decides or maybe not decides whatever happened was not able to play in the game up against the centers. So, not only no Quinn Hughes, but two players that they traded away also not a part of that game. And then I didn’t even think for a second Honor Heluk was going to be ready for a game up against the Sens like a Brandon Pillar not a doctor but coming back from a surgery in 3 weeks and then not only coming back in that time but not looking rusty or like you haven’t played in a while or you’re maybe not 100% healthy. That’s bad news. Well, there’s a reason why he’s consistently playing 60 plus games every year. Fair. Yeah. Yeah. He is a workhorse and he’s going to be I’d imagine in goal for Winnipeg. Frankly, I’d be shocked if he’s not. Uh we’re recording this just at midnight. We got a big day going to morning skate. Going to be boots on the ground. And as Psey mentioned, it has been a while. Sorry for having a kid, dude. Like it’s not my fault. Couldn’t make it. Whoa. I don’t think I wasn’t putting any animosity into that. I was I was just stating facts. I think that was just me projecting that I would have loved to have been there for the playoffs and home opener. But we’re here. We’re here and we’ve got an unbelievable boots on the ground record that needs to stay intact. If people are curious, the breakdown we tweeted out a couple days ago, we’re 162 and one when we go to games together. Pillsy, this can be our 20th boots on the ground game together. Yeah, not bad. And uh our road record away from Winnipeg, not that great. But in the peg, 3 and 0. 3 and 0. Yeah. And I’m 0 and2 here without you. And I am I think 0 and five without you. And the goals differential is absurd. Not good. It’s like a meartian postcast. Yeah. But we’re here. We’re excited. If you’re if you’re a Sens fan, you’re in Winnipeg, you want to grab a pint at intermission, hit us up, send central on Twitter. I’m so excited. This will be my first boots on the ground obviously this season. And uh cannot wait to see what the boys have in store. We’ll give a little bit uh more into what we did today which included being at set practice and uh what we learned from that and the conversations that we had. But PZY this game it couldn’t be more evenly matched. And we’ll take a look at the numbers now because if you look at the Ottawa Senators and the Winnipeg Jets this season, they have actually averaged the exact same amount of goals for per game. Both teams just over three at 3.06. Now, the Jets have actually allowed 3.06 goals against per game. They’re dead even in goals, four goals against. Ottawa slightly higher at 3.29. That is a number that would be great if it came down considering the Senators are dead last in the National Hockey League in team save percentage. Now, that’s not a great statistic. Nope. But it does speak to an extent. Not that I’m letting the goalies off the hook, but when you face less shots, sometimes you’re allowing still just two or three goals a game, but it amplifies because you’re doing a good job of keeping the puck in the opposition’s goal or end. And that would speak from the numbers where Ottawa is fifth in the National Hockey League in Corsy percentage, which means shot attempts per game. And that is the recipe for tonight. Keep the puck out of your own zone. This Jets team, yeah, they’re coming off a big win. They’re two and three in their last five games, but they’re also I think there it’s fair to say there’s a buzz around Winnipeg more about what’s wrong with this team. And if you can get that crowd antsy early, I think you could go a long way because Ottawa went up two nothing against the Jets in Winnipeg last year and then it was four unanswered goals and the rest was history. So going to be really curious to see how the Senators can start this game. Yeah. I mean, but again, let’s let’s stick with the obvious. Connor Hellabuk with or without this team changes the entire dynamic of how the Winnipeg Jets are. In fact, Ross, I’ve set my NHL stats right now to November 16th, which is when Connor Halabuk, he was uh his last game was the 15th. And you’re looking at a Winnipeg Jets team, 13game sample size, that was 31st in the league in that time, 48 and one record. Wow. Now, that’s not very good, right? Nope. That’s not good. What if I told you the Ottawa Senators only had one more point than those same Winnipeg Jets with a five seven-0 record in that time? Now, one less game. Yeah. But still, you’re looking at the Jets with a 346 points percentage and the Senators with a 417. A 417. So, we look at the Jets and being like, “Oh man, they struggled without their MVP goalie.” Senators have been in a pretty similar slumping spot as the Jets and they’re not getting anybody back from injury here. Well, hopefully they’re getting the Lenus Almark that we’ve seen flashes of over his last few games, but not consistently enough. And if you look back, yeah, Helluck back-to-back Vzna. Unreal. Lena Solar has the last Vzna before those two. So, you got the last three Vzna winners, their names etched on that trophy forever. They’re going to be playing this game and Ottawa is going to need I I don’t think it’s fair to say match the league MVP, but he needs to give the sends a chance to win despite what’s going on at the other end. Yeah. And again, that’s not to say that Lunas Almar has been the reason this team has not been successful in this little stretch here because a lot of it is has been one-goal games where you lose in regulation. Whereas you nine of the last 11 losses have been onegoal games and one of the other two was an empty net that made it not a one-goal game. Yeah. So you you get a couple extra points there. You find ways to win those games instead of lose them and you’re looking at a whole different scenario here. Now, I’m not trying to pull the let’s not be worried, everything’s all right card uh right now, Ross, but I do think it’s important to note that the Senators have been able to hang with these teams and hang. They they dominate stretches of games. Second periods have been tough, but they have been the better team, and that’s loser talk. I understand, but we’re trying to analyze what we watch for the entire two and a half, three hours that the game’s on rather than just, oh, did they get two, one, or zero points? And I think to a man, you could say the Senators have been the better team. Forget they deserve to win a meter. Just the looking at how their structure plays throughout. It’s just been key mistakes at bad times that have sunk them. And they can’t afford to have too many. Cuz I I appreciate you saying that it’s a little stretch. This next stretch is going to determine whether that becomes unattenable to get back from. There’s still a road to win three of your next four, five of your next seven and get yourself back on track, but the clock is ticking and with each passing game, especially the Minnesota game, I’m not over that last play yet, but we’re not going to get back into that. It It was a heartbreaking way to lose and you have to be able to shelf that. And I thought from just being around them for a few minutes today, there was no sulking. There was no woe is me. guys were talkative, chatty. We appreciate that. And you can also see that there’s a level of confidence that has been instilled in this team and this group going back to last year that they’re going to be able to get through this. They they lost five games in a row after the four nations and the last one you were there was a brutal loss against Winnipeg at home. So, they’ve been able to bounce back before. So, I trust them. I still like the makeup of this team. I still like the way that their top guys have been leading the charge. Drake Bathson, Brady Kachchuck, Tim Stutzel have all provided a ton of offense. The secondary layer with Dylan Cousins, what five points his last two games right now. Yep. He’s been on fire. I just I think the Suns are going to win this game. Yeah. And the the vibe too we got from the the guys and being at the rink was we got to get one. Like we’re not feeling sorry for ourselves. We’re not feeling like, oh, it’s it’s some someone else’s fault or refing or injuries or whatever that we’re in this slump, but we got to get one. We got to find a way, and this is an opportunity here. The Ottawa Senators will have that opportunity. Note the start time. It is going to be a 6:30 start uh in Winnipeg, 7:30 start for Eastern time, local time. I was going to say this time I’m here, you’re here, the game’s here. We will allow central time. Yes. And that is behind the scenes of LOSP, the struggle for the last four years figuring out a oneh hour time change. But it is a prime Monday night hockey game. And stay tuned in your podcast feed later today. We will be chatting with the analyst for tonight’s game, Jody Sheldy, who’s been on the show before. Great interview, a great knowledgeable voice of the game. And I love getting guys who cover the NHL as a whole. And in uh Jody’s case, Columbus is where he spends more of his time. Former Blue Jacket himself. Tough guy, dude. His fights with Chris Neil in particular. Go look those up. But I always am curious to know that perspective when they dial into Ottawa and kind of figure out what they think is going right and wrong with the team. Well, he would have got a good look at the sends recently. Uh that was one of the sends successful games up against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Even though it wasn’t pretty, it worked. Yep. [Music] All right, PZY. It is a game day for the Ottawa Senators. 7:30 tonight they will take on the Jets in Winnipeg. Both teams are so so desperate for these two points and that should make for a very good game. The Ottawa Senators will hold a full morning skate today. We’ll be there and check for updates at Sen Central. It was an optional skate yesterday. So no lineup update. So let’s go based on what Travis Green had for the game in Minnesota. That would mean Tim Stutzla is starting at topline center with Brady Kachchuck and Fabian Zetterland on his wings. Dylan Cousins is between David Peron and Drake Bathson. Ridley Greg centering Michael Amadio and Klo Jeru. Steven Halliday will be dishing to Curtis McDermad on his left and Nick Cousins on his right. On the back end, Jake Sanderson with Ardam Zub, Tyler Cleven with Jordan Spence and Nicholas Mattenalo with Nick Jensen. All signs point towards Lenus Almark starting in goal. Pillsy, your locked on player to watch. My locked on player to watch is going to be Dylan Cousins. Um, this guy’s been hot lately. He has seven points in his last three games. Um, he’s really been able to put the puck in the back of the net. Now, obviously, a lot of that damage happening on the power play, but the Ottawa Centers are going to need the power play up against the Jets because beating Connor Hellbuk at all is tough. You’re going to want to find ways to do it with more space, better opportunities. And Dylan Cousin showed in that Minnesota game that if you give him just a bit of time and space, he can rip it. And he fired it off the post and in on the power play. And he’s really good setting up guys on the power play as well as he got that assist for Tim Stozo. So he’s going to be someone that I think especially Ross the Winnipeg’s second line is not as strong as their first line. No offense to sends abroad Vladimikov but certainly a drop down from Mark Shley. So I think hopefully Dylan Cousins, Drake Bathson, and David Prong can take advantage of that little bit of a drop down uh from the top line. And we got to see Dylan Cousins improve five on five. Uh, I know he’s been great on the power play and he has been contributing five on five, but I think that’s going to be the key for me when I’m locked on to Dylan Cousins is how can he dominate even strength. Yeah, I like that for sure. I’m going to go with Jake Sanderson for me for a couple of reasons. One, this is a topheavy Winnipeg Jets team. Their top two scorers, Mark Shley and Kyle Connor, each with 40 points. They are elite. They work the give and go extremely well down low off the rush. They can beat you in a number of different ways. And I know you don’t have last change, but Jake Sanderson plays half the game these days anyways, so he may as well be out there as much as he can against Shley and Kyle Connor. It’s going to be a tall test, but one that I think the North Dakota Fighting Hawk alumni just down the street will be able to take on. I hope that there’s some offense that comes with that. Jake Sanderson hasn’t had the most offense in the last couple of games. I know he was held off the score sheet in Columbus, shockingly with the Senator scoring five goals. And you look at what he can bring. Yeah, that’s great offensively, but I’m I’m expecting this to be a defensive masterass from Sanderson and he’s going to have to. So, I’ll be keeping a very close eye on him. Now, where are you at with the sends decor without Thomas Shabbat here? Is part of you thinking they need to split up Jake Sanderson and Arm Zub just to spread a little bit of the wealth or are you thinking, hey, Sanderson and Zub are so good. Just make sure those guys are out there as often as they can be up against the team’s top lines and then you hope that the rest works itself out. Yeah, I think so because otherwise you’re you’re looking at a Cleven Zoo pairing in all likelihood and that was the D pair that was out there for that goal late in the game in Minnesota and their numbers haven’t necessarily been very good all season long those two together. So no, I’m sticking with Sanderson Zub and that has to be the shutdown line. If you can win the minutes that Sanderson Zub are out there against the other team’s best players, you’re giving yourself the best chance to win in Thomas Shabbat’s absence. So that would be my thinking there. And you look at the way the Winnipeg Jets are set up. And this is a team that on paper I think is much better than their record shows. Obviously the Halabuck injury played a role in that. They were 93 and 0 out of the gate this season. Not quite like last year where I think they were 15-1 to start the season. They had a red-hot start. They carried that all the way to a President’s Trophy, the best team in the regular season in the NHL. But this lineup hasn’t changed a whole lot since then. Yeah, they’ve got Mark Schiffley centering Kyle Connor and Gabe Valardi. Then it’s Vlad Neomestikov with Nino Neita Rider who just played his 1000th game on Saturday night. Great milestone. Cole Perfetti at right wing there. The third line, their checking line very good as well with Morgan Baron at left wing. Adam Lowry the captain at center and Alexow on right wing. The fourth line a legend of the game Jonathan Taves is centering the fourth line. He struggled. Well, he hadn’t played in two years. Were you expecting him to score 50 points? No. But wasn’t expecting him to struggle the way he has offensively this year. He’s between Cole Keepy and another guy who’s struggled extremely offensively and that is Gus Nyquis. On the back end, it’s Josh Moresy with Dylan Dlo. That pair’s probably played more together than any other D pair not named Devin Taves and Kale Mar over the last three, four seasons. Dylan Samberg is with Neil Pianc and Logan Stanley is with Luke Shen on probably the tallest pair in the National Hockey League. 67 meets 6’5. Sheesh. But that’s one that you can take advantage of with their lack of foot speed. We expect Connor Halibuck to start in goal. He is really really good at hockey. My lookout player. Oo, I’m between two. We’ve already talked about Shley and Connor though, so I’ll leave them out of this and I’ll go with Cole Perfetti. Okay. He’s a player that took a huge step last season I felt and then came right down to earth. He struggled this year and a lot of last year he was playing with Nikolai Eers. That’s a comfortable place to be cuz Eer’s speed opens up a whole lot of different looks. Cole Perfetti not the fastest player but he does maintain a high level of skill throughout his NHL career. I think that it’s only a matter of time before he pops off. I just don’t want it to be against the Ottawa Senators. He’s got just two assists. He’s dashed four in his last five games, one goal in his last 10 games, and for the season, he’s only got two in 17 games. So, he’s playing on that second line, and that’s the line. If you’re the Ottawa Senators, you’re circling and you’re saying, “We need to win every single minute that we’re out there against that trio.” So, if Cole Perfetti has a good game, you’re probably in tough against the Jets. Yeah, that’s fair. And like I said, that’s the line where I’m really hoping the Sen line gets matched up against them. and they can dominate. Um, I’m going to be looking out for the third player on that duo that you already mentioned, Shley, Connor. Obviously, everybody knows all about them. They’re absolute studs. But don’t forget about Gabe Valardi there. I feel like he kind of goes unnoticed and he’s actually tied for Shley for the Jets in goals with 16. Kyle Connor only one behind of 15. But where Valardi separates himself is on the power play. Six power play goals, more than double. Shley, the next best player for the Jets. And Gabe Valard’s been hot recently. In his last six games, he’s got eight points, five goals, three assists. Um, he’s someone that I’m really worried about, Ross, especially. He has been a really good shooter this year as well. He’s shooting at a 23.5% clip. Now, you may be thinking, “Oh, well, that’s not sustainable. He can’t do that.” Last year, he shot over 20% success as well. So, yeah. Oh, yeah. He’s a shooter, man. Yeah, you really got to look out for him. And I think he reminds me a lot of Drake Bathson, honestly. Big body, down low, great on the power play, netfront guy, and they’re they’re just high skill players, but not necessarily the fastest. Yeah. And they get overshadowed by other guys. Like I think if you’re not a sentence fan, you look at the sentence and you think Brady, Timmy, Sandy, you might not think of Drake. But where he can be really effective on this line is you like Kyle Connor is much more dangerous. So you have to put a lot more attention to Connor. And then Shley obviously is great too. So those guys eat up a lot of the attention and he can find those soft spots and he can put it away when he gets the opportunity. Yeah, it’s going to be really a battle tonight between the Senators and the Jets. And I cannot stress enough how important these are for Ottawa to get not one but two points in this game. And I’m not saying it selfishly because we’re boots on the ground. I’m saying it because you cannot let six out of seven losses pile up, right? You have to be able to nip this streak and allow yourself to feel good. And and in a small glimpse, you zoom in. If they can go two and one on this road trip, you’re like, “Okay, let’s go home. Let’s build on this.” This is a tough building to play in. But like I said, this fan base is pretty antsy despite their their last win. You get to them early. You get to them often. And the power play could be a big part of that. Ottawa over 26% on the power play. So if they could get one be early, earlier the the better. Maybe the later the better. Maybe 24 seconds left off. Later the better. We’re switching it up. Yeah, I mean they had that power play with four minutes left against Minnesota. You score there, it’s probably Curtains. Yeah, that’s fair. And the Jets penalty kill without Halle Buck in that stretch I mentioned from November 16th. Not great. 66.7%. Now the Ottawa Senators, their season penalty kill is at like I don’t know 68 something. So that’s not great either. But the sends in that stretch have at least been better at 72.7%. And then you look at the sends power play 30.8% since November 16th. So redhot you get I I think that’s where they’re going to have to you know really make things count is with the man advantage because five on five this Jets team plays a nice depth smart structured game. You’re not really going to get into a runand gun situation with them which is where the Senators are able to stay in games but then let them go at the end. So, you got to pay play tight. You got to play smart. You got to play responsible. And then when you get that power play, that’s when you let the big guy shine. Specifically Dylan Cousins, who’s been hot, and Timmy, who’s been hot on the power play. I can give you a stat you can use, plus a prediction for tonight’s game after this. We’ll also get into our day at Senators practice and horrible news. Although there’s no real long-term implications as we know yet, it was a scary moment today in the Belleville Senators game when Carter Yakamchuk left with an injury. We’ll get to more on that next. [Music] All right, Pillsy, we are fired up for this one in Winnipeg. Boots on the ground. The Ottawa Senators needing to get two points after dropping the chance at any with a goal. 24 seconds left against the Minnesota Wild. We were fired up that the Senators were coming here and we were equally excited when Ian Mendes said, “Hey, why don’t you come check out uh practice today over at their practice facility?” We said, “Absolutely. Love to see you. Have a good chat with him.” And we ended up having a pretty good day. Yeah. Yeah, it was great. Uh once I figured out my travel mishaps and we got to practice a little later, I forgot my bag in the airport. Had to go back get it. Not a big deal. Happens to everyone. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Two trips to the airport today. Three if you include me getting there to pick you up. Hey, just an awesome awesome time though. We have a great chat coming in the next couple of days with Ian Mendes and Jackson Star. First time in show history that we’ve recorded interview in a dressing room. Yes. Now, we did have a dressing room setting for our uh Tim Stutzel and Josh Norris interview, but yes, this was in a musty dressing room in the Winnipeg practice arena. Yeah, it’s exactly like the Sensex and we used garbage cans as our props to hold up the laptop and our road cer and uh I mean it was just the the utmost of professionalism. a big J journalist that we are uh graduates from college of sports media. I think this is that’s where we saw ourselves when we applied is doing something like that. I just saw two people that knew that they wanted to get the proper vision to the great citizens out there and they did what had to be done to make it happen. So, it’s a really fun conversation. It’s coming for you uh probably Wednesday, maybe Tuesday on uh on lockdown senators. But uh you’ll you’ll really enjoy that one. We also got good chat with Brady Kachchuck and Tim Stutzel separately. Really nice of the boys to come over and poke their head in and say what up. And first thing I said to Brady, I was like, “Man, you become a podcaster now. Everyone’s trying to beat your face up. He’s been high stick four games in a row.” It’s crazy. Yeah. Like, don’t they know this guy’s got a YouTube career he’s trying to get going? Like, you can’t be messing his face up. My goodness. Even he always says he has a face for radio, but I mean, come on. Let the guy live. Yeah, that’s tough. But yeah, it was great for them to stop by. And it could be worse. You know, his dad scored a goal with his teeth. Slapshot off Keith Kachchuck’s face and in. Well, Brady Kachchuck will say, “I can do you one better. I scored an OT game winner without teeth.” Yeah. Stitches nine 10. You were at that game. I was at that game. Epic. Yeah. That’s awesome. So, yeah. Shout out. Also an Amazon Prime game. Oh, yeah. True. Prime Monday Night Hockey. The best. And you’ll see tonight. It’s just crispy. Yeah. Crispy. No, it wasn’t. But that’s when the Amazon Prime started following him. I knew there was a Prime thing going on there. There was. It’s late. We’re No, it’s early. People are listening to this early. They’re on their way to work. They’re hanging out, right? It’s early. Yes, it’s early. Hey, it’s early in the season. And I think Sans fans, myself included, get caught up in the every game. You’re done. It’s over. But there’s 50 more games left. Ben, there’s a lot of hockey. There we go. And you know what? Coming over on my side of this. All right, I got another one. I got it. It depends if you ask in the postcast or before a game when I have hope eternally. Look, the Ottawa Senators, they’ve not been winning games a lot recently. How many of those losses though against Western Conference teams? You don’t want to lose at all, but if you’re going to lose, at least let the teams that are winning not jump you in points. Send’s last two wins against Columbus and Montreal. Huge wins. Yep. their last losses outside of New Jersey who I know they’re struggling but I still think that they’re a top metro team. I I the Rangers one stings but other than that and Ross those wins aren’t just squeaking by 52 and 63. So that that gives you some hope when when they’re able to figure it out. They’re able to not just squeak by and when they’re losing their opponents are just squeaking by. But remember we’re not talking about the standings on today’s show. just go get a win tonight and we’ll deal with everything else as it comes. Unfortunately, today, something came and that was an injury to Carter Yakamchuk. The video didn’t look good. Gets hit in the corner, goes down awkwardly. Had to be helped off the ice. That to me is the real um tough part of that. No update from Dave Bell after the game, but that’s tough, man. You want him playing every game. It’s those uh those working hours of getting better at his craft so that he can be in the National Hockey League. I know a lot of fans probably close to 5050 think that he should already have had his first NHL game. So hopefully it’s just a minor tweak. We hope he’s all right as soon as possible and gets back healthy because the points are there. The defensive game it still needs to take one more step forward and you got to play to figure that part of the game out. So hopefully nothing serious and uh we’ll update that at Sen Central whenever more information becomes available. Yeah, I mean to add insult to injury, the Belleville Senators end up losing that game to uh a rough weekend for the sends. Now they get to overtime, but they’re not able to finish the deal here. And the Belleville Senators are slipping down the standings too, Ross, as they are now barely hanging on to that final playoff spot in the North Division. Just one point ahead of the Cleveland Monsters. So to lose a guy like uh Carter Yakenchuk when you’re already struggling and now Steven Halliday is going to be with the Ottawa Senters and Ole Lexel called up too and especially Lars Eller it doesn’t seem like he’s going to be back anytime soon. So both or if at if not at least one of those two will remain up with the team. Those are big losses to a Belleville team. Yeah. At least they still have Arthur Cali right scored again today. Yeah. Yep. And guys like Xavier Borggo are keeping it going down there. Jackson Parsons is having a good one, too. So, but it’s it’s not going to be easy. And yeah, this is not what you want for Cardi Yakamchuk because you need him developing playing games here. Yeah, you really do. So, hopefully everything is all right with him. All right, like I said, we got Jody Shelly coming later today. We’re going to record that at 100 p.m. Eastern. So, it’ll be a little pregame viewing listening for you on the Lockdown Podcast Network. And a reminder, if you want to join the Everydayers Club, you can join the link below. Uh you get bonus coverage, including a link to our Discord and ad free episodes. There’s two tiers, so you can go check them out all for yourself at the link below. Psy, final thoughts on today’s game day preview against the Winnipeg Jets. Final thoughts is uh it’s great to finally be back the the duo here and uh we’re we’re going to have a we’re going to have a good game at uh the Canada Life Center. Is it still Canada Life Center? Yeah. 20th game. Boots on the ground together. I like that we’re climbing. We like even numbers. We celebrate all even numbers. Slump busters. We’ve done it before and not afraid to do it again. Yeah, I was going to say hopefully we don’t have to shave our heads this time, but uh we will do that if necessary. I bribed Brady Kachchuck or at least reminded him that the last time we came to Winnipeg, he scored the gamewinner with five minutes left. Guess what? On a power play. Yeah, that would be a great way to do it. I I’m I’m with you though. Let’s We’ve been focusing so much on the starts of these games. Let’s focus on the end. Let’s focus on the finish of these ones. Yeah, because that’s where you get the points, right? And Ottawa has shown that they can come back if they’re down early. Yep. But when they lose late, it is so infuriating. My final thought is Brady Kachchuck’s gonna have a game. I just I feel it in my bones. Brady is stuck on one goal this year. He’s still producing a ton of offense and he’s still getting chances. Brady Kachchuck will score in this game. I’m willing it to Levy Lock. Yes, Levy Lock. Levy Lockach. And Levy Lock is going to be a Brady Kachchuck goal. And if you want to get wild, you can parlay it with a Sans win. I really I’m I feel very strongly about Brady Kachchuck scoring and I feel a bit over 60% sense win the game. Okay. Yeah, I do. I like it. I do. All right. We’ll have to see what happens. Uh Connor Halabuck could be laughing at this and saying, “But do they not know?” I got two heart I got two Vznes and MVP. Well, Ross, with our luck, the mount we focused on Connor Halabuck in this episode, Eric Comry will be starting. I would also like to apologize for my behavior last year at the Sen Jets game when Ottawa went up two nothing. They dumped the puck in from center ice and I Bronx cheered Connor Halibuck. He did not let in another goal and Ottawa let in four straight and went on to win the VZNA. Yes. And the league MVP Matt Sogard started that game and I feel like Ottawa has played some backups here in Winnipeg. So really excited to see Alena Salmark start today. I I I don’t think I’ve seen him live since No, he played that San Jose game. Yep. Yeah. So, I brought my Mark jersey. A little extra luck there. Yes. And you’ll have to let me know on uh on social media on Twitter at Sen Central. What jersey should I rock? Cuz usually I wear the same color that Ottawa wears, but Pilzy brought me my sparkling, beautiful red alternate Tim Stutsa jersey. I think I’m between the the red Tim Stuts and the black Brady Kachchuck. And I I just levy locks Brady. I think it’s got to be Brady. Yeah, I think it’s got to be Brady. I I do. But Timmy came to say what up too today. Yeah, but uh and this is nothing against Timmy. But wearing that red alternate on on the road just Yeah, just seems weird. Yeah, but they are beautiful. And Timmy got his first career hatrick here in Winnipeg. True. In front of no fans. So, let’s Yeah. Let’s see Timmy hattrick and then Brady with the final goal at the end. Okay. Hey, last time last time we got crazy with it, it almost happened. You said Timmy two goals and then I said five tacked on three assists. But hey, we’ll work with it. Hey, Timmy’s been shooting. Timmy’s been scoring. Let’s see if we can continue that tonight. We will chat with you a little bit later on today with Jody Shelly and of course the postcast tonight. Hope you enjoyed the early drop. Wanted to get this in your feeds ASAP for Brandon Pillar. I’m Ross Levitan and this has been a game day edition of the Locked On Senators podcast.
