“Very Resilient By Our Group” | Tage Thompson After Buffalo Sabres Defeat Seattle Kraken 3-1
Well, Ta, that’s two straight games defending a onegoal lead in third. Are you guys learning each time you face the situations? Yeah, I think we’re comfortable. Um, I thought we controlled um most of the game. Um, you know, line is playing great, giving us some big saves when we needed them. So, gives us a bench confidence and um I thought we were pretty good uh controlling the you know, the pace of the game and uh controlling the puck. Um, a couple times a little sloppy with it, but I mean um happens. Uh, I thought we we played a really hard game. How would you evaluate this road trip as a whole for your team? I mean, 500 um not great. Obviously, we want to be better than that, but um it could have easily gone really bad the way we started. So, um very resilient by our group to to find um you know, find it and turn it around. Um it’s not easy going on the road playing, especially when uh you know, I start the trip off 03. Um, you know, I thought a great great job by our our group. Um, just mentally, um, you know, not letting that get to us and just focusing on each day. At the same time, when did you really see your team kind of pick up stride over the course of these six games? Um, yeah. I mean, I think you could look at a handful of those games. I mean, there’s puck bounces sometimes that don’t go your way. Um, bad calls, disallowed goals. um you know, but at the end of the day, those are things you can’t control. You can control is your work ethic, your the way you’re competing on pucks, um and the intensity we have. And um you know, I thought sometimes when we maybe faced with a little adversity in those first three games of the trip, we uh started pointing fingers and looking for excuses instead of just um you know, grinding a little bit harder. Um I think obviously we had a talk and um you know, turn it around and I think those were kind of main things we focused on just controlling what we can control. Where was that talk and what was the theme of it? I mean, I don’t think it was like a specific sit down talk. It was kind of just like things you say throughout, you know, the day of practice and things that uh you try to hold each other accountable to a standard that you you’ve set as a group. That’s kind of it. Now, what do you have to do to carry that home? You know, what you’ve built on the road. What are the keys to being successful now at home? I think just same thing day at a time. Um, you know, we’re kind of on a bit of a roll now. We got three under our under our belt. Um but can’t get too high on that. Um can’t forget the the process that’s gotten us the results. So kind of just u enjoy the flight home and then kind of reset and get ready for the next game. In these last few games, it seems like Pton Krebs has brought his usual game to your top line, but he’s had a really strong impact. What can you say about him and how he’s fit in? Yeah, I think he’s got a lot of confidence right now. Uh making plays, uh holding on to the puck. Um so it’s good to see. Uh he’s obviously extremely hard worker. I think that’s the first thing that stands out when you watch his game. And um I think he’s getting rewarded for it.
