Was this the best Red Wings team to ever do it?
greatest team I’ve ever been on. No question. Um I can’t compare it to the Edmonton Oilers or the, you know, the Islanders that went on that Ford four cup run. But without a doubt, had we not won the cup with that team, that would have been a really big disappointment. But yeah, I don’t know how many Hall of Famers 10, eight, maybe 10. Yeah, just 10. No, it was incredible. And what a year. Scotty couldn’t do anything to us. there’s not, you know, we kept winning and it was just a we were on cruise control and the whole Dominic Hassik show with all the antics and with him and uh Brett Hall like it it was just a great group of guys and and again like to to finish it off the way we did and you know that took me 17 years you know in between cups I thought after my second year in Montreal this is good I’m going to have 10 cups by the time I’m playing but thank God I won two more and I was able to celebrate that with my kids and family they’re old enough Understand at that time.

I’m gonna be an obvious Wings glazer because they are my team but I think what made the team stand out is not just the HOFers. I think it was the resilience. How many top seeded teams get the death sentence in the NHL come playoff time? Too many to count. The 02 wings were down 3 of the 4 series that playoff. One of which was down to an elimination game to the Avs. You could NOT keep that team down. They always found ways to claw back in. That’s what I can appreciate the most.
I didnt think this team was all that good. With all of that talent and not one player had a point per game average. They were luckier than anything else. One bad bounce against the Avs and that series was over. 02 Wings were highly overrated.
