If the fan base wants a rat, Marchment is one of the best in the game. Mr. Accidentally On Purpose. If you’re okay with penalties he’s great at waking a team up.
Team looks flat, he goes out there does some shit. Creates a scrum and wakes the bench up. He would be a great Clutter replacement. Also great Stache.
Leddy no, he’s one of SJ’s worst D-Men. I don’t think he should be a full timer on a NHL playoff team. I think his cost is going to be higher than its worth.
Gustafsson is interesting, he’s playing in th AHL but he’s tearing it up. I wouldn’t pay much, maybe 6th or 7th.
Now Bunting is interesting, he’s physical and generally pretty good. Also he’s a Pred so you can probably get him for less than you would think. Barry Trotz is bad at his job and Mathieu should be calling him everyday.

Folks, current position in the standings aside, it’s not the time to be renting anything for any amount. Especially when you consider none of those mentioned names even improves the roster, much less makes us any kind of contender. If anything we should still be considering who we can part with at the deadline to maximize return.

Bunting and Gustafsson would be my picks. I hate Marchment; he’s a rat. Maybe that means we’d like him if he were on the team? But I’d rather not.
Canes fan who’s here bc my gf is a diehard Isles fan. Bunting would be a great add. He’s gritty, greasy, and can play fast. I loved him in his brief time w us
I think he’s having a bit of fun here rather than some nuanced thought driven by some inside knowledge he might’ve picked up on.

Why would you trade for some of those guys? It seems like a subtraction given how well the D are playing
I wouldn’t trade either of the firsts unless it’s in a deal for a guy with term (like Kyrou/Hronek), but anything less than that we should definitely be open to. The team is playing well and the East looks as wide open as its been in years. Our future outlook isn’t gonna change at all if we trade a 2nd or a 3rd and try and actually compete now when it’s possible instead of trying to minimally improve our odds of being better 5 years from now.
Marchment makes sense. Opposing teams would think twice before messing around with Schaefer
