Braves Sign Ha-Seong Kim!

The Atlanta Braves bring back shortstop Hassan Kim on a one-year $20 million deal to be the Braves everyday shortstop. Jake Mastriani here from Lockdown Braves. And look, it’s a deal we’ve all, you know, thought was possible for the Atlanta Braves after they brought in Hassan Kim at the midway point of last season. He liked his time here. It made sense. The Braves need a shortstop upgrade. It is a little bit expensive at $20 million for one year and was starting to hope for a little bit more than Hong Kim. Look, it’s going to be better than what the Braves have had the previous three seasons at shortstop. No doubt about that. So, it certainly can’t be too upset about the signing, but it is a good chunk of change for for one year. But, it just means there most likely wasn’t anything else the Braves could get done at shortstop this season. Allows them to, you know, continue to evaluate Kim and maybe look for something else next off season or hopefully one of their prospects will take a big step forward. We’ll talk more about this on the next episode of a locked on braves.

  1. Unsure how to feel about this. It's only one year. It's expensive. He's better than what they had. But, I would have liked someone younger signed for longer. Then again, there wasn't much to choose from. 🤷‍♂️

  2. Thinking Yaz/Dibon/Kim is going to make this lineup better, especially after losing a big bat in Ozuna, is foolhardy. I had hoped for a bigger splash, as it sounds like Jake. If we have 2 or 3 bounce back years, we are gold, but these, in themselves, doesn’t improve this lineup substantially.
