Are the Astros Really In on Freddy Peralta — And What Would It Cost?
The Houston Astros are officially in the mix for Brewers ace Freddy Peralta — but how real is the interest, and what would it take to get a deal done? Ken Rosenthal reports the Astros are among several contenders calling Milwaukee, as Peralta comes off a career year with a 2.70 ERA and finishes fifth in NL Cy Young voting.
In this episode of Locked On Astros, we break down who Peralta is, why his $8 million salary makes him one of the most valuable trade targets on the market, and whether the Astros can realistically make a rental trade work while staying under the luxury tax. We also debate whether Houston should buy or sell on giving up prospect capital for one year of an impact arm — and if Peralta isn’t the guy, who else the Astros might pivot to on the trade market.
Plus, does landing a pitcher of this caliber require trading Isaac Paredes? Or is there another path for the Astros to upgrade the rotation without sacrificing a key bat?

Hope it doesn't cost us some of our young outfielders.
So far it looks like Seattle has done a better job this offseason. Houston really needs to step it up if they want to remain contenders!! It sounds to me like they are falling behind going for level c pitcher

If you hear a list of 5+ teams that are "in on" a player, it almost always means the player's agent is trying to set a market for their player and that means making teams bid against each other to drive up the contract price. Boras even tosses in "mystery teams" that only he knows. 80% of it is BS. Just sayin'.
Dare I say it, if they REALLY wanted Peralta, Myers and Alvarez and maybe a lower range prospect? I feel Yordan has kind of lost his mojo, he was injured most of last season but even when he was healthy, he was very ordinary, another bad season and his worth will plummet.
