[Rapoport] More context: Patrick Mahomes also tore his LCL, along with his ACL, sources say. While that can complicate recovery, it doesn’t necessary extend his rehab longer than 9 months or so.

Wow, this is why people (certain YouTubers) shouldn’t be throwing out misinformation from their “sources”. All I’ve heard the last 24 hours was it was only his ACL, all ligaments were good besides that. When it’s almost always not that simple
I know we need defense, but after this information, I say we take the best available OT for the right side. I really wanted Love, Woods, or Hell Downs. But I think, to protect this dynasty, Pat needs as much protection as possible. And then you grab Coleman or Emmitt.
I miss him already
I also tore my ACL and LCL, received full clearance in 6 months and wore a brace until 12 months. I think Mahomes will play Week 1 based on my experience.
It’s WILD that Brady tore his ACL and MCL, and now we learn Mahomes tote the ACL and LCL.
Please GOD don’t let him get the staph infection too…
Pls don’t let the guy who fixed Houston’s knee do Mahomes’
Lets check those loose ankles while we’re in there.
It just gets worse and worse this season lmao straight from hell
After googling around, —feel free to give additional information if you’re qualified (unlike me)— but if the LCL tear was missed on MRI, it could mean that it’s not a full tear, as full tears are usually quite obvious on MRI (unless there’s a ton of swelling, but there clearly wasn’t too much swelling to prevent surgery).
If it wasn’t a full reconstruction, it may not add much time to his recovery if any. Obviously the “coulds” are carrying a lot of weight, but just wanted to share what I found from searching around
My money is on an October return.

***or so***
I’ve never encountered an *or so* I don’t fucking hate.
I was thinking about how nerve wracking it probably is for a surgeon working on one of the greatest athletes ever. The weight of that and getting it absolutely right during the procedure must be insane.
9 months means he’s still probably going to miss most of September. Part of the month on PUP to get cleared medically, the rest of the month getting into game shape and getting back his mechanics. Even then he’d be rusty as all hell.
Not saying ’26 season is going to be a complete loss, but it’s likely to start out pretty rough.
As long as he doesn’t tear his BCL, CCL, DCL, ECL, FCL, GCL, HCL, ICL, JCL, KCL, MCL, NCL, OCL, PCL, QCL, RCL, SCL, TCL, UCL, VCL, WCL, XCL, YCL, and ZCL, I’m going to stay optimistic.
