What the Chargers Proved about Their Toughness in Week 15 Road Win over the Chiefs

So frequently, as you know, when there's a major big- time, longtime winning team in the NFL that loses, we sometimes don't talk about the team that beats him. Los Angeles Chargers, everybody, not only have a chance to win the AFC West, but in so doing, potentially the conference. That's in the ether. They've won six of seven now, three in a row since the buy. And they've done it by hitting you in the mouth and taking the shots and making the plays on every facet. And they got a quarterback and a team and the image of the head coach who, as you know, he's got a bit of a screwy situation sometimes with his verbiage and the way he approaches things. It's why I love Jim Harbaugh. to my dying days. My first quarterback as a University of Michigan student and now next door neighbor here in Elsagundo, California and his reaction to beating the Chiefs, eliminating the Chiefs, sweeping the Chiefs, keeping his team in the mix for the division because they've beaten Denver already and played Denver at the end of the season. Had this to say. >> Sometimes people that are standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn't. the Harbaugh Files. >> It's a It's a ball team. This is a ball team. Uh starting to think of this as my favorite ball team that I've ever been on, you know, and I think I've been on a lot of been on some good ones. Uh none better than this ball team. And when you're on a ball team, a real ball team, uh you know that you just give it your best, keep getting better, and you don't have to do it yourself. There's every other guy, you know, 53 uh guys that go out there. Um, you know, they're playing as one and it's it's it's a it's a ball team, >> the Harbaugh Files, >> a ball team that had lost since last seven against Kansas City entering this season. They swept him. They're 5-0 in the AFC West now. >> And of course, Justin Herbert in Jim's image, he is a perfect avatar. He breaks his hand, non-throwing hand, has it surgically repaired, puts it in some like Infinity Glove looking thing, >> and what was it? Nintendo glove, TJ, >> he takes 11 sacks in the two games since he says, "Screw it. I'm still going to play." I know, >> by the way, in a span of six days. >> Yeah. >> 11 sacks. That's tied for the most in any twoame span of his career. You know when the other two game span with being sacked 11 times was weeks nine and 10 of this year. >> Wow. So he's taken the hits and is keep going without his tackles without all of these players and Justin Herbert passes one particular player for most passing yards in the first six seasons of his career and he's now 601 shy of Pton Manning for most all time in his final three games. just looks like he's going to get it. He passes Patrick Mahomes. Talk about a torch passing moment. The Chargers are in the mix is a headline. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. 1. Rich, you picked the Chief’s to beat down the Bolts??? What’s up with that??? Now you give them a chance?? As a matter of fact your entire panel picked a chief victory.

  2. Chargers might not get any accolades this year due to the gaping holes in that o-line and Greg Roman's refusal, or inability to scheme a quick pass game, but they're definitely setting the tone as a tough team.

And I mean just pure physical. That hit that Jefferson put on Rice was old school crunch, and it was fantastic. Arguably shouldn't have been ejected for the one after. If I was the Chargers GM this season, I would be getting a center as highest priority. I think Bozeman is the worst graded center? And it's easy to see why. The dude constantly misses blocking assignments, even if it's an LB running down hill, he pairs off and helps the guard who didn't need it. Meanwhile, Herbert has to duke a speeding car.

If Chargers get their first and second string O-line players sorted out, they're going to be extremely dangerous, provided they can hold on to Minter and that defense.

  3. Historically bad OL and one armed QB, but great defense, gritty and tough as a team. Definitely not a contender but could make a run in the playoffs. Bolt up!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️

  4. I appreciate you talking about chargers. Everyone else talked about eagles and chiefs on how or why they lost. It's crazy how some teams don't get 2 min from ESPN

  5. Thanks Rich. The national media has been absent from any Charger recognition. Considering the offensive line is decimated and Herbert has been essentially playing with one arm. Winning close games in the NFL is difficult. Speaking for Charger fans, we've been on the wrong side of that equation far too often.

  6. As a loyal Chargers fan of the last 22 years- they will find a way to Chargers this run…and I'll be riding with them until that inevitable annual disastrous end BOLTS UP!!!!

  7. Thanks for actually talking about the Chargers. Literally every other sports program is only talking about the Chiefs, but it's not just this game, anytime they talk about the Chargers they speak about the team like they're just the background characters in other team's story lol. Low key I understand since we haven't made any noise in the playoffs in years, but still, it seems like poor journalism imo

  8. Thank you, Rich. I realize that Harbs is your M-Go-Blue Blood and you will give him good press whenever you can, but I also respect you as a sports journalist too much to think you would baselessly pander. I appreciate your acknowledgement of the Chargers. If they win out and Denver loses this weekend to the Jags, the Bolts win the AFC West and there should be no way that Harbaugh is not seriously considered for COY. If they win a playoff game, surely.

I can't believe that he (and Hortiz!!!) has this decimated squad of second, third, even fourth chance O-linemen, knocking on the door of the playoffs as the #5 seed. Amazing. Really.

  9. So right about what was talked about most of the 24hours post game. Chargers deserve credit. Harbaugh has the team sooo close, like Family and Herbert is just unbelievable in his grit, courage and determination to win. Now….for my FANTASY….The Chargers win out and go to the Super Bowl where they play the Colts VS Phillip Rivers!! That would be a Fairy Tale ending to the Season!
