What led to Jets demise vs. Senators?
You know, when when your only NHL game of the night involving Canadian teams involves two Canadian teams playing each other, when we talk to Craig Button, we have to give each team equal time. So, Craig, we're going to start with the team that lost, and that would be the Winnipeg Jets. And what's truly tragic about it is they had a chance to win back-to-back games for the first time in about a month. Um, they have a 2-1 lead late. They blow that lead, they lose in overtime. What happened to this team? >> Yeah. Well, again, you nailed it. and they had some really good moments in this game. Connor Hallellabuck comes back Saturday, gives them a great performance against the Caps. And they're doing enough things. And what's plagued the Winnipeg Jets this year, Jay, is that they beat themselves. They make critical mistakes at the wrong times and they can play really well for long stretches. And it's just one thing. So we go to the tying goal. They got full control of the puck and then as it comes around the boards, Cal Connor makes a real poor play that allows the puck to stay in the zone and now off of Shifley stick. Bad luck that ends up being the tying goal. And then what we see in overtime is Travis Green finds a way to get Kachchuck and Stutz out against Perfetti and Domestic. And oh yeah, by the way, Jake Sanderson's out there, too. So, three top-notch players that now can take full advantage of the Winnipeg Jets. Stutzel buries Perfetti in the in the offensive zone and then they turn it the other way, twoon-one. No mistake. So, give Travis Green tremendous amount of credit for getting his top players out against the Winnipeg Jets lesser players. That turns the game on its head. Gets Winn Winnipeg one point, but the bad news is is that two points go to the Ottawa Senators. And you know, when you talk about the Ottawa Senators, you alluded to it. Uh Tim Stutzla, Brady Kachchuck, Jake Sanderson, you might call that Ottawa's big three. Combined six points on Monday night. They led the way, including that OT winner. And this is a team, Craig, that had just three wins in their last 10 games. This is, I assume, the formula that you would like to see going forward for this Ottawa Senators team. >> I would say yes, Jay. Number one, they had three even strength goals in this game and they got one from their fourth line and Nick Cousins. So that's good. I They were struggling for about a week there where they couldn't get any five on five goals. Now they're getting their five on five game. Their defensive game is going pretty good. Lemark who has not been good this year. You know, he made some really good saves in this game. Uh after letting in two goals that I didn't think were very good goals on him. That being said, put that behind you. Find a way to make the next save. He made some really good saves, but I think most importantly, the what's in place for the Ottawa Senators looks positive. Now, they got to keep building on it. But the key to this whole thing is Lenus Allar, Jay. If he doesn't get his game up a level or two levels, then they're going to suffer the same consequences they've suffered over the last month. >> Let's see how all of the sends do. Thursday, they will face the Penguins in their next matchup. Winnipeg will face division rival St. Louis on Wednesday.
Brady Tkachuk scored 2:11 into overtime to lift the Senators to a 3-2 victory over the Jets on Monday night. What led to Winnipeg’s demise against Ottawa? How important was this win for the Senators to get back on track? TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins SC with Jay Onrait to discuss.

This year's Jets team has been terrible and inconsistent since the first puck drop in the first pre-season game. This Jets team is NOT the team they were last season. And this year's Jets team indeed are doing it to themselves, with boneheaded giveaways, getting away from their defensive structure and being perenially unable to clear the puck from their own zone.
This year's Jets are an objectively terrible hockey team and if they make the playoffs (which they probably won't) then they'll just be swept out in 4 games, regardless of who they play.
The Winnipeg Jets are going to St.Louis and considering this an easy two points that they desperately need and a good thing they’re playing the St. Louis Blues. They’re gonna use Hellebuyck and their heavy forecheck and they’re gonna steal two points away from St. Louis like stealing candy from a baby. That’s exactly how Winnipeg feels about it and they’re probably right based on last years playoffs
Ottawa was better. That's it.
Go Sens Go!
Beaten by Keith Tkachuk's son. How ironic
Perfetti is -11 in 18 games and Namestikov is -5 in 32 games !!!!! WHY are they out on 3 on 3 together call a time out if your top scorers are pooped ????
Scott explain this to me ………Perfetti went into the boards in the corner like a rag doll. AND OF TO THE RACES WENT OTTAWA
Was a solid game for both teams. Sens was just a tad better for the win
