It’s over…
It is over for the St. Louis Blues after dropping three of their last four games, including two versus the Nashville Predators as they allowed 13 goals against. All signs have pointed this St. Louis Blues team is going into a completely different direction with management and coaching running out of answers. This is a team that needs a serious overhaul heading into the remainder of the season as this core is just not good enough. We're going to break down all this plus a roster move on the St. Louis Blues in this episode. And Darius, let's just go straight into this today where we know the St. Louis Blues currently sit with the highest odds to land the first overall pick after going into last season making the playoffs, taking the Jets to game seven. Everything has completely crumbled around this team. We seen them drop a game versus the Nashville Predators 5-2 just last game. This is inexcusable for a team that wants to go on a run. Yes, you can blame injuries. Yes, you can blame anything in between, but everything has been struggling. Goalending, defense, the scoring, adjustments, just everything on this team. I just want your opinion. Listen, quickly last night, Logan Mayu wasn't the worst defenseman on this team. And that's probably not saying a good thing because we seen Broberg, we seen Prao sitting down at the bottom. What is your overall thoughts on just this St. Louis Blues team just not having what it takes to be a competitive team at this point. >> Well, you summed it up pretty well. It It's over. It's over at this point. We were talking the last couple videos, the last couple weeks, that this stretch was going to tell us exactly what this team was. Injuries or not, when you watch the games, when you look at the play, when you look at the fan reaction, this team has no accountability. They have no drive. There's no pride to play for the logo on the front of the sweater right now. And these are guys that you need to be your best players. These are the top players that some of them have been around for a while, right? So, I don't care about the injuries at this point. There's certain things that you can pick out of a game and you can't pick much out of any of these games right now. And Nashville stinks, for lack of a better term, and they lost two games here to them. I said that this stretch was going to dictate what this team was. We now know what this team is. They're not going to make the playoffs. All signs are pointing to blow it up at this point because we know Braden Shen is not getting any younger. He's getting a lot older. actually you should look at trading him anyway to get some type of asset in return for him. Jordan Kyu's name has come up. We'll save that for another video. That's another topic of conversation, but that's come up as well. It's over. You need to start looking towards the future. Start handing the keys off to some younger players. We'll get to that later in this video as well because they're starting to do that actually in a big way. And look towards the future because you're not going to make a miraculous comeback uh like you did last year because there's no new head coach coming. There's nothing else coming in for this team. They have a lot of assets that they could go out and make a splash at the trade deadline if they were in a playoff position, but they're not. And it doesn't look like they're going to make it. It doesn't look like they have that fire inside. So, you have to start to look towards the future, I think, at this point. And it's over. Like, you lost two games to Nashville this week. You should have won both of those games and you would have been in the mix. To me, this team doesn't have it. >> And I think the big thing is, too, looking at this team going into you lose those games versus Nashville. It doesn't feel like everyone's stepping up. Now, the big thing is, yes, you're dealing with injuries, but the rest of the damn NHL is dealing with this as well with the condensed schedule. You cannot blame this all on the fact that they're missing players. Yes, it sucks to lose Holloway, Kyu, Snugrude, Walker. There's so many guys, but Darius, this is a team that just hasn't stepped up. You're seeing these veterans on the team, the leadership. There's a lot of great players on this team that have really stepped up. Pew Sudter has looked great joining this team. We know D'Vorski, a young talent, looks like the best offensive guy, scoring two goals last night. And when looking at that scorer there, is the only two goals that they scored. This is a team that I feel like it's becoming a culture problem. I'm not going to sit here and say, "Hey, this is all on the leaders of the team. This is on Shen. This is on anyone that wears a letter." But I do think at the end of the day, you need new personnel. You need a clean slate. You need to get younger. You need to go out. This is a team that hasn't had a top pick in quite some time. landing a guy like Gavin McKenner or Ivan Stenberg, Otto's older brother, who we're going to touch on very soon. This is a team that needs the complete flip. I mean, you're looking at the fans looking at the standings. You have people tweeting out this might be the worst lineup they've ever had. Fabry came in and already looks like the most poised player on the team. I don't know if this falls back on coaching. I don't know if you think it's on the leadership, but overall looking at this team, is there anyone in your mind that you're like, "Hey, do not move." or are you almost open to trading anyone at this point? >> Not everyone. I mean, Robert Thomas to trade him would be dumb, I think, at this point. I think D'Vorski would be stupid to trade at this point. I want to get to him in a little bit, too. Holloway as well, right? That doesn't make any sense. And Broberg, they're the future. And in terms of the goalenders, and maybe I'll throw Snuger in there. I didn't want to copy the tweet word for word, but in terms of the goalending, they're not going anywhere either. I I don't think that makes sense at this point. So, they're not going anywhere. But everyone else, I think, is up for grabs at this point. And that includes Jordan Ky. it would be a little bit difficult to move him, but I think that definitely includes him at this point. To get back to D'Vorski, you brought up a good point. They only scored two goals last night. He's in on both of them, right? Hand the keys off to the young guys. It's over. I thought that there was a reason why they weren't doing this. Uh and I still think there is a reason that they're not doing it, and that's to not stunt their development. It's over. Call these guys up. Let's get everybody up here. Springfield sucks anyway. Uh get all these guys. And you can see here they finally made the move. Otto Stenberg is on the way up. He will be with the Blues for their next game. Um it's over, man. like get these guys in the lineup. It doesn't matter. A lot of the analysis I've been giving on the channel is what I think is going to happen based on their track record and what Doug Armstrong likes to do. But what I think should happen, yes, call up all the young guys now. It's over. I've seen enough from, you know, what the team looks like right now. No disrespect to Matt Luff and he scored the other night, but guys like Matt Le, like they're not going to move the needle, right? You want to see what these younger guys have at the NHL level and you have nothing left to lose right now. And they might actually give you something a little bit more. I mean, look at Robbie Fabry coming into the lineup, right? signing on that PTO uh you know in Charlotte and then coming into this lineup signing a standard player agreement and he looks like the best player because of the work ethic. He comes in with a fresh mindset. He's ready to go, right? So there is something a little bit rotten in that room. I don't know what it is. I don't think it's Jim Montgomery and I don't think he's going anywhere either. So, you know, that's just the fact of the matter. I don't think you could fire him at this point. What are you going to do? Go through a coach every season? It doesn't work that way, right? So, you have to establish some type of culture. So, I think it's everybody else at this point except for the the a couple of guys that I mentioned and that were mentioned in that tweet. And to blame everything on injuries, like you mentioned, Mark, everybody's dealing with injuries right now, right? So, we'll see what Stenberg has uh at this point. And you have nothing left to lose at this point. Sell off some of the older big pieces. Get what you can retool for the future. You have a lot of really good pieces. D'Vorski looks like he's going to be fantastic. You have a lot of good pieces already. Justin Carbono coming up, right? And then you can go out and get a top pick this year as well. they have the best odds right now and of course the season's not ending tomorrow but maybe they stay in that race. So that's just how I feel about it at this point. Uh I remain super optimistic to this point probably well past what any reasonable fan would be at this point. Um and and we are here now, right? So ultimately I think that's the direction they should go in and you know we'll see what they end up doing but I think Dog Armstrong the time to sit on your hands has passed right and a lot of fans I think it's moved from Mark and I don't know if you agree with this absolute devastation a couple nights ago where it's like how is this still happening? This is so frustrating because they were picking up wins just a couple weekends ago, right? This is so frustrating. It's now moved into apathy I think where people are like I just don't know if I care anymore. And once you reach that, you have to call up some of the young kids, see what you have, and and and just try something new. >> And I mean, looking at before the season started, I kind of thought about this as you were speaking when we seen Jim Montgomery say, "Hey, to the young guys, no one is safe. Don't buy an apartment until you're ready and we know you're on the team." Maybe leaning back on this, looking at the core of the team, maybe they feel too comfortable. Maybe they feel invincible. And listen, a lot of guys on the team, you know, they're safe. Robert Thomas is a guy you're not going to move out. But I think everyone got too comfortable in this culture. Shen, maybe you need to get a new captain. Whatever it is, but I think it's shown with the young guys. Matt Lo has scored. D'Vorski, who's fighting for his NHL career, comes into the lineup and looks like the best player. D'Vorski, who started the season in the AHL once again came in looking like the best player. Logan Mayu, got demoted, came back up looking like a different player. I think it falls back onto this team getting too comfortable leading these losses, not mean a damn to them when it comes to offense. What is your thoughts on this Blues team? Do you think it's time to blow it up? Move out your veterans on this team. Bring in a new culture, a new young core. Let us know your thoughts down in the comments. And speaking of comments, let's go into comment of the day. At this point, I think the writing the writing's on the wall. The players are short for a top three pick. This is a team that could go out and get a Gavin McKenna, a Steenberg, someone else. Vince, let us know what direction you want this Blues team to go in. Let us know all your thoughts down in the comment. You could be featured on comments of the day. While you're down there, leave a like, subscribe, share this with your friends. We'll be back with another episode. to keep for that. But I've been your host Mark with my co-host Dies and take care Blue Sense.
All signs point to it being over for the St. Louis Blues as they drop multiple games to bottom of the standing teams, will Doug Armstrong look to send out out vets on this roster to make them younger, is their a culture problem within this room. Mark Pye and Darius Domingues break down all this and more on this episode of Blues Digest.

Blow it up!!!!!!!!!!
When has anybody seen 55 stick up for anyone on this team like Schenn does? Trade him and get some assets!
I wish Armstrong wasn't going to remain after Steen takes over as GM. I would rather have Steen make decisions without Armstrong's input.
Keep tanking for Gavin McKenna! 🤣
This team is nothing like what we saw in Feb – April last year for whatever reason. There is no tenacity, very little time in the offensive zone, very few shots, and very few goals. Once they get down in a game they implode.
Armies done nothing but blow this team up ever since they won the Stanley Cup and I ain't so sure stains going to do any better
Thing is…it's not over. They're not that far out of a playoff spot. We've seen the Blues make a late season playoff run multiple times in the past. Granted, it looks awful right now. I do think a big trade to shake things up could provide a spark to start something
Great job, gentlemen
McKenna Thomas snuggerud
Holloway Dvorsky kyrou
Neighbours Suter Carbonneau
🙏
2019
Honestly at this point…I just really hope they don't fumble the 1st overall pick so we can just get McKenna
The only thing making Thomas untouchable is the fact hes a center and those are 1. hard to find 2. harder to replace. If he were a winger? He'd be on that list too of tradeable targets.
Dang! Featured on the comment of the day 2 shows in a row. 😀 Doubt i will make it 3 in a row but after 2 losses to the Preds I really feel like its time to move out guys that are over 30 and get some picks or pieces in return. Its time for Doug to build this team for Steen and the future of the Blues!
You keep using this word TEAM. I don't think that word means what you think it does.
I’m convinced Pronger and Macinnis couldn’t help this group! The forwards aren’t helping defend! Most nights it 2 defensemen against 3 forwards plus a defenseman pinching in from the other team!
army, hitchcock and ott all need to go ..then they need to replace strickland and lose him too … time for the good ole boys club to go ..im not too thrilled with steen another hitchcock army friend and more of the same garbage
Question is: Where should I park the U-Haul truck at??
A top 3 pixk in tgis draft would turn this franchise around. Make the moves…get the youth some nhl minutes
I think you keep a 1 or 2 veterans like a Cam Fowler around to help the younger guys learn how to be NHLers, otherwise torch it, get a bunch of prospects, and try to get a top pick in the draft. I feel like all the injuries are almost nature making the choice easy for us.
What are the problems is the chemistry the make up players Armstrong has gotten they’re not playing for the team every night is their attitude. They lack heart heart it’s contagious.
Sell Sell Sell … up the young bucks .
Maybe we need a new owner that will clean house army should have been gone when Hitchcock was gone ..this is so sad no one had been fired
Players aren't buying into Montgomery's coaching and Armstrong isn't helping….what is Steen doing anyway?
I’d try to move Faulk, Parayko, Schen and Kyrou. It’s tricky because Kyrou is a steal.
To easy to play here. Fans don't hold the team accountable until it's way to late and the media is to soft on them.
Takes me back to the 90's
