Lanny McDonald's 60 goals in a season is still one of the most untouchable records in

Flames history.

With today's scoring pace and how the roster is shaping up, do you think any current Flame realistically has the potential to challenge that mark someday? If so, who – and why?

Curious to hear everyone's takes.

  1. If he gets an elite playmaker on his line maybe Coronato comes close once but realistically I don’t think anyone on this current team can do it. And Lanny scored 66, not just 60.

  2. 5 guys have done it in the Cap era. 4 were first overall picks. No current Flames have a good shot at a 60 goal season.

  3. Zero will ever have that stache! I have long admired it and long tried to grow one like. I fall short every time!

  4. League-wide there’s really only 1 or 2 guys today that you could say have a shot at matching Lanny’s record. That’s a Flames record that could last for decades still

  5. Maybe Gridin? I don’t think we have anyone. Next year we can say Joe Iginla but as of now it’s dicey lol.

  6. LOL. No one on this team currently will come close to that. The one who breaks that record either isn’t on the team yet, or even born.

  7. We could draft first overall for multiple years in a row and I would still say that I don’t think there will be a 60 goal scorer on the Flames in the next 30 years. Scoring 60 goals is an incredibly rare feat in the NHL as a whole so it makes sense that we would never see another one in Calgary.

  8. None.

There are only 5 active NHL players with a 60 goal season. Mathews x2, McDavid, Pastrnak, Stamkos, and Ovi.

A 60 goal season is very very very rare in the modern NHL.
