NHL Highlights | Avalanche vs. Kraken – December 16, 2025

The Avalanche on a record setting pace to begin the season. Just two regulation losses and we're underway in the Emerald City. Yet the Gulf is because of the offense. >> Well, that that's where the Kraken is going to have to try to stay competitive in this game is not let the Avalanche get their game going. >> There's Mason Marchman. A tough save. >> Well, Alex, those two that you first mentioned, McCann and Schwarz, they're the the leaders of the offense for this team. So those are two significant injuries for them. >> Bouncing puck. Winterton put it right on. Blackwood with the save and they just got reinforcements with Mason Marchman returning the lineup after missing the last game of the Elvis. And here he is with the puck. Marchman a two-goal game against Utah recently. STRETCH PAST BENERS. KICKED OUT by Blackwood. Lingren wrist shot save. Rebound swept out of trouble. Lingren to keep the zone. Montour hard pass. Stevenson across the scene. But Joe STATE THE STICK. BLOCKWOOD HAS THE PUCK IN his grasp. >> What a flurry of action for the Kraken. Well, even the Marshm play, right, Chris? Like in the offensive zone, he made the great pass to Beir on the on the rush chance, but in the offensive zone, he's got to make sure that it's a a sound play and not turn it over. >> Nas fires, scores. Martine Nas with a shot from the point into a maze of bodies. Colorado with the opening goal. >> Avalanche how good they've been. Even strength, but off the entry, you see the little dish and then Natus just delays, walks to the front, the quick release. And even Manson, I mean, the D on this team have the freedom to go towards the net. And you see him high in that zone. You see Lean Lechinan right in front to take away the eyes of Grubower and just a great release and deflection by >> for Colorado. They get off to such fast starts early. MARCHMAN DRIVING, DRAWING A PENALTY. >> And Colorado, they're going to get their chances. I just think for the Kraken, they can't they can continue not to give them free chances. Don't give them any offense. Don't give them the puck back. I thought that was a really strong period for the Kraken. >> Olivson once again dealing with right turn behind the net. Tried to square it up for Colton. It jumped away. KO carries it in. Cuts, passes, right, fires, LOOSE PUCK. SAY REBOUND, SCORE. Say right. Cleans it up in front to tie the game. >> And then he wanted him to make sure he was attacking with speed in the offensive zone. Then you see the drive and for right he's in tight and makes sure that he stays persistent when he comes in he doesn't stay on the exterior of the ice so he gets the pass a great heads up look and releases the shot and he doesn't you see him there but then he comes back in towards the net stays relevant relevant and off the post and he gets the look but flooding the zone here a pass out in front looking for Nelson Seattle will counter Marchman centering. OH, WHAT A SAVE. REBOUND SCORE. Jordan Everly off the rebound. Seattle has the lead. Trust in the belief in this team. And this is started by speeding skating speed. It's veneers that leads it. Look at how many Kraken players. You see three of them joining the rush. Larson's a part of it, but it's Beneers. Quickly when he enters the zone, he has his head up and you have both Eberly and Larson that are driving hard to the net. Right. That's what Lane Lambert wanted. Not guys staying high in the zone waiting for the delay pass. Going hard to the net. >> Darts to the middle. Beat Gerard handcuff momentarily. Rolls it to the corner. Nuskin to steer it along. Foot race. Colton and Marksman. Marksman able to knock that puck free. stays alive however for Burns. He has room. Burns on his backhand into the skates OF EVERLY. BLUNT GERARD. THEY SCORE. Samuel Gerard WITH A BLAST FROM THE POINT. >> IS the one that joins the rush before man in to get the pass. But then after that, Marchman has the inside position. He should win this race TO THE PUCK. BUT INSTEAD, it's Colton that gets there. They don't clear the puck. The Avalanche maintain possession and then Gerard presents himself as an option and eventually gets that shot off. So two key moments, the Colorado Avalanche, it's their DJ during the attack. But then in those moments, if you're Mason Marshman, you are stronger. You've got to win that. >> Everly with speed over the line. >> Covenant up the boards. Dun keeps, drifts across. Covenant opens, passes. Stevenson surveying, passing, score. Seattle retakes the lead on the power play. >> Well, this is feet on the entry. >> They wanted to make sure they kept their feet moving and they did so even on the power play to make sure you've got numbers and attack. You watch Everly, he doesn't go to the front initially, but the timing once Stevenson gets the puck, then Everly explodes. A few quick strides to get towards the middle of the net to create a little bit of confusion and in front gets behind and gets a piece of it. So there's Tolvin the nice dish down low, but this is when Everly steps in timing to make sure he gets behind Kelly. >> The eighth time this season Colorado is trailing. You see Chandler Stevenson >> Machuskin battling for the puck. Shane right pokes it free. Nachuskin emerges with it. Mar pass redirected RIGHT ON. A BIG SAVE BY GUBAU. >> Another huge save by Gubau. What movement >> become the goalender they thought he would be. Fortunes for this Seattle team will be quite different. This puck is put wide by Luck. Natus to the back. A car FOR MCKINNON. THEY SCORE OFF A DEFLECTION. Nathan McKinnon with the rocket and it hit a stick on the way to tie the game at three. >> Fourth line caught out there for this shift and you got the McKinnon line that comes out. So now they have the edge. They're in the offensive zone in control. Nate just talked about his play in tight and then you know all night Nathan McKinnon has been looking for that shot that one-time and what a blast. Mar sets him up beautifully >> and it goes off of Larson and in. >> That's a tough >> but that's just that's tough right? I mean I feel like when you get hemmed in with that line it's not the matchup you're looking for and it's tough tough on the shift change but they get caught walks up the wall shadowed by Drury Stevenson for Everly on the doorstep. Walk to the front. Shot down by Blackwood. Stevenson to track down the loose puck. Done up top. Covenant to the back door. BLACKWOOD KEPT IT OUT. SNOW ANGELS IN THE CREASE AND HE GETS THE WHISTLE. >> A MASSIVE SAVE FROM MCKENZIE BLACKWOOD. >> WELL, and this whole play there's extra time because Burns has gone to the bench. She breaks his >> Seattle's been awarded a penalty shot for 42 covering the puck in the crease. And you see all the chaos and Manson sees that the puck is free on the far post. Here's a better look because it's loose and Manson sees it and jumps down and puts his glove on the puck to make sure that it does not cross the line. Jordan Everly here. >> Jordan Everly, the Seattle captain already with a goal tonight. Looking to give him the lead on a penalty shot. AND HE PUT IT WIDE OFF THE GOAL post >> in a three-3 game here in Seattle. Mishandled by Dunn. COLLISION WITH LANDIS AND A SAVE OUT IN FRONT BY GRUBOWER ON BROCK NELSON. >> MAKE SURE THEY HAVE THE movement and the looks that they're hoping for on this power play. >> Colorado wins the face up. >> Mar for McKinnon. A one-time wide OFF THE ENDBOARDS. THEY SCORE. BROCK NELSON CAPITALIZING ON A LOOSE PUCK. COLORADO WITH A BREAKTHROUGH ON THEIR POWER play and the Avalanche lead four to three. >> About Nelson on the flank and how he could be a key part of this power play and how they could improve. So these were the two that were chatting in that break. The car the kid the touch passes for them and then it's Nelson collapsing towards the net. So, you know, he's the lefty on that far side that comes in and the open net there. As good as Grubau has been all night, can't close that gap. Nate just creates some confusion down low, but that's the key >> off the wall. Don wrangling for position. Colorado gets it to the neutral zone. MCKINNON FIGHTS THROUGH THE STICK CHECK AND PUTS IT INTO THE EMPTY NET. Number 28 for Nathan McKinnon. will seal this ONE FOR COLORADO. THEY >> HAD some pressure in the offensive zone, some chances, but this is where they got the clear and chuskin with a strong play. And even here, you look at the strength that the McKinnon has on his stick for Nathan McKinnon, right? Two goals and an assist here in the third. >> Seemingly at every turn when the Avalanche have faced even a small bit of adversity this year.

Nathan MacKinnon finished with three points while Valeri Nichushkin, Martin Necas, and Cale Makar each recorded two assists to lead the Colorado Avalanche to a 5-3 win over the Seattle Kraken.

  1. I was expecting the Avalanche to give the Kraken a belt session. It was a valiant effort by Seattle which I'll admit.

On to Calgary on Thursday. (That game will get overshadowed by a certain football game going on at the time)

  2. Making booing a single player an identity of your team is hilarious, I'd love to know how many points Makar has scored against the Kraken since they started booing him, trying to be Detroit so bad

  3. Where TF is the Leafs/Hawks highlights? Stop being petty and just ask TSN for the highlights. You’re both gouging the public it’s not like we think there’s a difference between the two of you. Get on it.😂

  4. When that bogus penalty on Colton for Boarding was called, I knew Karma was eventually going to occur in this game. Sure enough, it did with Brock Nelson scoring the GW as the puck bounces off the board and right into his stick. Puck don't lie

  5. Lots of energy by the Kraken especially in the 2nd, once the Avs got the PP goal (finally broke their slump) it was over and they seemed gassed. Landy did a hell of a lot more than the stat sheet's 1 assist on the empty netter, so glad he's back.

  6. Omg i looked at the bring of the 3rd period and was sick . 1-2 i put 3k on this why , with the Knicks win , Brunson 23.5 , Hart 6.5 rebounds, and Harper 10.5 . Everything hit , and i though i lost 3k because of this game .

  7. Jordan Eberly has either been unlucky or lacked skill. He has missed too many scoring chances.

The fight of Seattle was good, but not enough.

  8. When and why did sportsnet stop showing fights? That is why I always watched your videos over the nhl posted ones. Because you showed the scrappy side of the game. Lame man just lame
