Appreciate all of you hanging out with us here on our show today. NBA trade season is officially open. What do the Mavericks look like from a trade value standpoint? We'll jump into our tears. Plus, we'll go around the association a little bit later on in the show to preview tonight's NBA Cup final between the Spurs and the New York Knicks and what else is happening that could impact the next decade of basketball in the Texas Triangle here on this terrific Tuesday. Ron, what's going on? >> I'm alive. You >> You need to talk. Are you good? >> I'm fine. >> Okay. All right. I will take you at your word. Bobby, what's going on? >> Um, I agree with Gakajin. I wish PL will show up today. [laughter] >> Oh, >> yeah. PLA's had a lot going on. >> Takes are amazing. >> They had a lot going on. >> Takes weren't bad. >> I mean, I [laughter] I have nothing but respect for every super chatter. >> Same. [gasps] >> Same. >> Shout out to Galagin in the chat. Uh, CGTGK, what's up, man? Lonear Rob in the chat as well. Jake, also appreciate you hanging out with us here as the Mavericks of course coming off a loss last night 140 to 133 on the road to the Utah Jazz. Cooper flag though making history in a number of areas becoming the first ever 18year-old rookie to score 40 points in the NBA game, tying Mark Aguire's Mavericks rookie record with 42 points. A number of records Cooper Flag set last night. And with that backdrop, gentlemen, the Mavericks 10 and 17 on the season. They'll be back on the floor on Thursday when they welcome in the East best team in the Detroit Pistons. Speaking of home, K Cunningham, of course, a home reunion coming up on Thursday night. But plenty of stuff to get to before we get to that on Thursday evening. Hopefully, you're having a safe and happy holiday season so far. As well as Bobby, this was your brainchild when it came to the idea of looking at the Mavericks from a value perspective. and let's see what we've got in terms of what the Mavericks have from a trade standpoint. >> Yeah. [clears throat] So, we made a well, we Yeah, we we made a tier list and we shared it >> uh in the uh what do you call it? The description of the video. So, if you want to make your own, the link is in the description of the video below or if you're listening on Spotify, it'll be or iTunes or whatever. It's in the description there. But, uh we're ranking the Mavs available trade assets ahead of the 2026 trade deadline. uh it unofficially kicked off yesterday. Today is a deadline of its own for reagggregation, all that stuff. I don't think the Mavs are going to make a trade today, but uh they could. So, it's better to be late than or better to be early than late. Um so, Tanner, take us to the tier maker. So, we have five tiers. All right, we're going to rank every player and the picks that the Mavs have. Not second rounders, cuz no one cares. Plus, they don't have any. Um the the number one tier, the top tier, hang up the phone. If a team calls you about this guy or this pick, you say and then you just hang up the phone and you never talk to that general manager again. Especially if it's Rob Polinko. Number two is it would hurt. But these are guys or picks that if you if you really have to trade them to make a deal, then you will, but you really rather wouldn't. Tier three is I'm calling and listening. I'm shopping these players. All right? I'm calling to see what teams think about them. I'm answering to see what teams are offering for them. These are guys that are officially on the market. Tier four is negative value. These are guys that you're probably not gonna, you know, you're probably not going to be able to get off of or if you do, it's going to take a pick or something or a good player. And then the final tier is the PJ Washington tier. PJ cannot be traded. So, uh I believe he's the only player on the team that can't be traded. There are some guys that sign minimums, so it's going to be hard to trade them, but they can legally be traded. PJ is the only player on the team that cannot be traded. So, he will go in that tier. No one else will. >> Can I add a little context before we get started as well? >> Yes. >> So, Jake Fischer, of course, buddy of uh our guy Mark Stein, of course, publishes on his Substack as well, reports that uh quote, "There doesn't seem to be much of a market for Anthony Davis at the moment. The teams most interested, Atlanta and Toronto. Atlanta quote doesn't have a package that will quote tempt the Mavs at the moment. Mhm. >> Uh the Mavericks are not necessarily looking to dump Anthony Davis, but Toronto does want to upgrade uh their front court. We've already seen a report from Toronto um that they have checked in on Daniel Gaffford uh as well. So, just a little more context with respect to uh what Anthony Davis's market could be. >> Could be like an AD Gaffford combo package. That's a lot of salary. >> A lot of salary, but it's possible. Yeah, they got to give up some some picks >> if if they want AD and even just AD because the M like have to take back Yaka Purle who just is on a such a bad deal. That deal alone is probably worth a first to get off. >> So you're kind of dumping the salary. You're basically trading a negativeish player for like allstar caliber guy on a team with Brandon Ingram and a bunch of other players. >> And we and we looked at Yaka Pearl's concert before the show and it was nasty work. >> Oh, it's it's bad. It's one of the worst in NBA. >> That Atlanta thing is interesting because like we talked about, there's already a couple different that we just shared on this show. There's a couple different routes the Mavs could go with the Hawks. There are even more than that that we didn't get into. Um, so clearly the Hawks are have drawn their line in the sand and the Mavs have drawn their line in the sand and they're both just tinkling on their own lines that they've drawn. We got a little contest going on back and forth. Um, and that's why, you know, I've Stein has said this for weeks now. That's why if the Mavs want to trade AD, then they need AD to play and play well. >> Sure. >> But that's the catch 22 is if he plays and plays well, then they're going to win. So why would you want to trade the guy that's playing, you know? So it's like a >> it's a it's very complicated. And the Hawks need Porzingis back on the floor and he's dealing with this illness once again that plagued him a year ago. >> Yeah, that's scary stuff, man. >> Yeah. So there's that as well. Uh so let's start getting these guys into these tier then. Um hang up the phone. Well, >> we're I think we're going to order the >> Yeah, we're going player by player. Yeah. So, first we have Dante Exom. >> Negative value. >> Yeah, probably. Yeah, he's on a minimum. Yeah, >> I mean, you can't trade Dante by himself. >> You can you can for filler, but that's filler. Yeah. >> Yeah, that's negative value, of course. >> Oh, that breaks my heart. >> I mean, plus he's Can we skip Dante? >> He's N. We got to go player by player. Um, of course, a Frenchman. Is no Australian. >> He's Australian. Yes. Uh going to be out the rest of the year. [laughter] >> I want to say, wait, it hit me. Like, wait, he's from Australia. >> Him and Kyrie Irving. >> Yep. >> Uh yes, Kyrie Irving actually born in Australia. >> Of course, Durk is from Mongolia. Uh >> oh, >> that one did not. That one fell so flat. That's my bad. [laughter] >> Oh. Uh but yes, >> you're trying so hard to be funny. >> Well, no. That [laughter] was terrible. That was terrible. I apologize. >> I'm kidding. >> Tan pink waving. Uh, XM out for the year, of course, with the knee injury. You're not supposed to read. It's It's an emoji. It looks like [laughter] >> Oh, no. Ron Ron wasn't here for the original lore of >> Oh, that's right. [laughter] >> That's right. >> There's There's a lot to that. >> So, Dante X negative trade value. Uh, let's Who's next? >> Uh, next, Mr. Dwight Pal. PJ tier. >> Untradable. >> Well, no, he he can be traded. So the PJ tier is just for PJ, >> but like I feel like >> he says he's untradeable. >> No, it's literally [laughter] just >> the Mavericks. It's like legally if you're like the governor, you just can't trade Dwight. I'm just joking. He probably goes another tier, but >> I bet I bet Dwight has value. >> I would go I'm calling trade him though. >> Yeah. Yeah. I think I'm calling I'm calling and listening. I don't know if I'm calling around about Dwight because just like >> but >> if teams teams that need a a big depth >> Dwight can play basketball >> and he can fill some salary if need be. >> Yeah. And he's on Dwight. Yeah. >> You think they would actually trade Dwight P? >> They could. Why not? >> I mean but like would they you think like Cuban be like you know what? >> Oh I mean I don't know if they would but I think he has value. I think they could definitely Cuban not running anything anyway. So >> calling and listening. Is that what he decided? >> Yeah. Yeah. because he can help complete a trade with some salary filler. >> This is true. >> Uh so who's next? >> Uh D'Angelo Russell. >> Oh god. Yeah. Negative value. >> Are you sure? >> Yeah. Let me think. >> Nico gave that cat as a player option >> for next year. >> But at 6 million. And I mean DLO's better than Hardy. And Hardy makes six million. So like Dlo is not even the worst $6 million player. [laughter] No, I'm joking. No, I I would agree that better. >> He He's definitely between the I'm calling and listing a negative V. I think like as of today it feels negative. It's not that much money. >> I bet they could trade him. I bet they could. >> Like there's teams that could use a point guard for $6 million. >> But would you have to attach something to get >> six mill? You would have to attach anything for a $6 million player. I don't care how bad the player is. >> If that's a question at all, I think that's for me that's where the negative value goes. You might have to attach something to get The only the only players that make that amount of money are either rookies, which you're no one's trading like a player on a rookie deal for DLO, or a similar a guy that signed a similar contract. Um, in all likelihood, if they trade DLO, they'd probably have to trade more salary anyway just to make salaries match. >> Yeah, >> I I bet I bet I would put DLO in the Dwight tier. I think that he could be in the Dwight tier. I Ron, break the tie. Kevin and I are sports disagreeing so hard right now. I >> Who's your favorite child? you know, um [laughter] I think I'm put and I'm calling and listening there. >> Okay, there you go. >> I did have him originally as negative value. I think like he doesn't make that much money. >> I'm with you. >> Imagine if we make fun of sometimes DLO sometimes like six male like there are teams that DL can like play for. I can be like a backup point guard. He can go like Minnesota Timber Wolves right now. >> We'll put DL at the very bottom of that tier. So all of the other players that are on the one DL will go at the very end. >> Yeah. And he again he's not going to be traded by himself. That six million will be like included because no team's like man we got to pay six million next year going to tank us like only the mass feel like they have like no other good like not a lot of good players. The teams again like the Minnesota Timberwolves let's say that six mill is not terrible for the Minnesota Timberwolves next season for a point guard that can play in some games for them. >> He's played there before. >> They don't want they don't want him. >> Yeah. I'm not sure they Yeah, >> but I'm saying for six mill [laughter] you know. Uh, by the way, Courtside, >> maybe he is negative, but >> Courtside Saga, I encourage you to look at the uh beginning of our season shows. I had the Mavericks uh seventh in the West at the beginning of the season. So, you can take that for what it is and >> keep moving on from there. >> I had the floor at 40 games. >> Uh, let's continue with our I mean, >> look, I was trying to be respectful of the Mavericks saying that they're going to be seventh in the West, but I definitely thought that they're going to be a playin team. >> Um, had them eighth. >> Yeah, you had them eighth. >> Yeah. Yeah. DLO is at the F blow there. >> Oh. Oh, wow. [laughter] >> Damn. Damn. Damn. Uh, who's next? Who's next? >> Uh, this one's going to be hard. Caleb Martin. Think about it. >> Man, what a guy. >> Is there something below the PJ tier? >> Like Cancun tier or something? [laughter] >> Like Cruz tier? He's probably the he I mean I'm not saying this to be personally whatever I I'm but that contract like he's got to be one of the worst contracts in the league. I think >> definitely bottom 10. >> Yeah. I mean >> for that salary >> he's making 10 million a year for three more years. It's nasty work. >> It's pretty bad. >> Uh in fact with Caleb Martin he has $1.3 million in unlikely bonuses uh as well. So with the contract that he has making $9.6 million. He's got a player option in 2027. >> Player option. I put him behind Dante like >> Oh, I thought it was like like Okay, I saw this. Whoever's at the left is most negative, >> but you're saying whoever's at the right >> further away. The further away you are, the negative. >> I'm good with that. Okay. It can be like least to most negative value, I guess, is how >> Okay, never mind. Okay, so that works. That works. >> Dante X and the Kayla Martin, >> the Australian. >> Yeah, French. Uh, let's get one more in before we take our first break. Who's next on the list? >> Draft pick. 2029. I'm sorry. >> The Lakers 2029 draft pick. >> Um, it would hurt, but I think that's I think that's fair. I take that hurt, but I I don't think you want to um I mean, they're the Lakers though. They always fail upward, but [snorts] Luca is only extended through what 28. >> Yeah. It's not a three-year extension. Yeah. And so if Lucas is like, you know what, I actually don't want to be here. And he leaves and the Lakers suck, that would be a pretty valuable pick to have. >> Yeah. >> So I I I would hold on to that one for as long as I could, I think. >> Yeah, >> that could be a decent asset. I mean, >> the fact that they only extracted one of those. I'm not going to get into it, but that's that that hurts. That's the part that hurts to me. You only extracted one of those um from the Lakers in that trade, but whatever. Uh, okay. So, we'll continue on the other side of the break with our Mavericks trade value assets tiers. Uh, and plus once we get to the end, what do you want to see happen as we are in NBA trade season? All that and more coming up [snorts] next. Little bit of a flex here, Kevin. What are the Mavericks trade assets that are valued going into the NBA trade season? Plus, we'll take a look around the association a little bit later on in our show as the NBA Cup final is tonight in Las Vegas between the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks and taking a look at what could be a decade's worth of golden basketball here in the Midwest. We'll take a look at that a little bit later on in our show. I appreciate you all hanging out with us here on DLSS Mavs today as we continue our Mavs trade value assets tier. Uh we've gone through four players and the 2029 uh first round pick via the Los Angeles Lakers in that trade. Of course, uh Tanner, who is next on the player list that we need to continue with >> another draft pick, 2031 Mavs pick, right? >> That's the Mavs pick. >> That's their own pick. uh phone. >> It would hurt. But >> I I agree with KG on here. I stand with Kevin. >> Yeah, I think uh the picks themselves, you don't necessarily want to give them up, >> but if it facilitates something worthwhile, then >> I mean, >> I would personally rather trade the Mavs pick in 2031 than the Lakers pick in 2021 today. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Seeing how good Coupe is, it's like, dude, I mean, there's >> Yeah, cuz Coop's going to be really good in 2031. Cuz if I need to Yeah. If I need to mortgage a later asset to build around Cooper for the next few years, I mean, cool. Cuz right now that 2031 pick is what? An eighth grader of some sort. Who knows? >> Yeah. Like >> the Clippers also thought the same. And then that pick might be the number one pick today. >> Yeah. Well, Sam Prey's on another Yeah, he's in his his own tier by himself. >> The Mets technically can also trade 2032. They can trade one of those two, but I didn't want to put two numbers in there. >> Yeah. >> 2031 doesn't even fit 03. They're trading their 03 draft pick. >> Yeah. Yeah. The Mavs 2003. What are they still hanging on to that >> do something with that pick, Donnie? >> Jeez. >> Should it go here or here? Do y'all not really care which side it goes? >> I think behind. I think behind. I I think the Lakers one is more valuable. >> Yeah, agree. >> So, we're now 03. >> So, we've had the 2029 Lakers first round pick. the 2031 Mavericks uh first round pick. What's the next uh thing that we're looking at here? What's next player? >> Derek Lively I >> man. Oh jeez. >> Oh, >> his evaluation is going to be so tough here over the next year because he has to prove that he can stay healthy. Of course, going to be missing the rest of the year with the right foot injury. He's going to have surgery on uh to get ready for next season. Hopefully, he'll be ready by training camp uh of next year, but I'm putting him Oh, man. I mean, I >> I think you all should lead this one. >> Legit. >> I'm calling and listening. >> So, I don't want them to even think about trading him right now because it's alltime low value >> for sure. >> So, that's why I would put him in it would hurt, but but that's weird because I think the reason I don't want them to trade him is because he has negative value. [laughter] So, it's like he's >> you got to meet in the middle then. >> Yeah. He's in every tier, but like I don't think the Mav should want to trade him. >> You know what I mean? >> I'd agree with that. I mean, when he's if healthy, uh he has been spectacular on the floor and he's young enough that he fits the Cooper flag timeline anyway. So, he's only 21. Cooper's 18, going to be 19 next week. He fits perfectly into the the window that you have. >> Yeah. And that's why I would put him in. It would hurt, but because if there is like some really good addition you can make this year and that team is like, "Look, we're tanking. Give us Lively. We'll give you this really good player that can help you right now." >> Yeah. >> But that's the only way I'm trading him, I think. >> Yeah. He He's probably going to be the toughest one that we discussed because he has so much potential and has shown when he's on the floor that he can be really good >> with or without, you know, 77. Um, so >> I have him at at the I'm calling and listing, but I can be convinced it would hurt. >> I just don't think you want to trade a guy when he's hurt. >> No, you know, >> you definitely don't. >> But I I also think it's for >> So I there are there are a lot of AD fans and Mavs fans that really like AD that get annoyed the way that, you know, people in the media and some Mavs fans talk about AD was like, he can never stay healthy, so you got to get him out of here. And here I am saying Lively can never stay healthy. You definitely should not trade him though. Well, the difference is more than Davis. >> I recognize the hypocrisy, >> but the difference is Lively is 12 years younger than Anthony Davis. So, >> but it also can be a bad thing. Like, if you're hurt that if you're hurt more than Anthony Davis as an old man and early in your career, does it get better? And wasn't this hurt early in his career? I think I'm willing to bet more on Lively's long-term health because he is younger than AD's health at this stage in his career >> and how much of what is happening right now as a result of malpractice. >> Complete and utter mismanagement. Yeah. >> Of January. >> I I don't know if if y'all both agree on I'm calling and listening, then you can put them there. But >> I would I'm indifferent. >> I think I can be convinced it would hurt. But okay. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I'm I'm pretty indifferent. >> Yeah, I could be convinced. >> And plus it would hurt a lot of mass fans for sure. >> I think right. >> Drop in the comments. What is would it hurt you as a Mads fan to trade Eric Lav? >> Yes, >> I'm interested. >> I'd need to take a couple days off. >> Uh, who's next? >> Uh, wait, who have Johnny? He's going hard. [laughter] >> I mean, the idea that Lively isn't good without Luca, that's been disproven on a number of levels. Like, Lively can play. >> He must like the Instagram video I made. >> Was he obviously terrific with Luca? Sure. But, I mean, it's been >> He can play without Luca. It's It's fine. >> Brandon Williams. >> Um, >> that's a tough one. >> It's gonna be negative value. >> It's gonna be No, no, no, no. I mean, >> he makes like two million bucks. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. I'm calling on salary. I think so. >> Yeah. I'm calling and listening. Brandon Williams has proven he could be a rotation player in the NBA. >> But like, can he be a rotational player as a 61 guard that can't shoot? Like, let's be honest. >> He is right now. >> Yeah. for this team. >> I don't know. Think about name another team in the NBA. He can be a top eight player in the rotation. He's a six foot guard that cannot shoot in the NBA. It's unheard of. Who would >> Well, he's having a bad he's having a bad shooting season now. He was a good shooter last year. He was a fine shooter last year. >> Yeah. Like he's been a terrible three-point slump to start off. >> I'm putting him above Dwight, I think. [laughter] >> Now, the difficult thing with he's on a minimum, so he has he does have uh like right of first refusal. Basically, it's not a no trade clause, but functionally it kind of is cuz one Yeah. one year deal. It's >> it's a whole thing. So, it's not it's not like you can just but [laughter] >> you know, >> CBA. >> That's CBA, man. >> The challenge with the Mavs is that because he makes the minimum, >> you know, he's not really counting against that apron stuff, right? >> Uh this summer, >> they will be in the second apron and they will not potentially be able to sign him because I don't think they have his bird rights. If you're on a two-way deal, I don't know if that counts as having bird rights. They might only have >> a standard contract now. >> Yeah. But so you in order in order to have bird rights, it's got to be three years with the same team. >> He was here last year and this year, but he was on the two-way the year before. So I don't know if that actually counts. So like I don't know if the Mavs can exceed the cap to sign him. So they might only be able to offer him a minimum. I don't actually know about that. >> But do is there going to be a market for him? Are they competing with teams? I >> I bet he's he's an NBA player, I think. >> And I think especially if Ryan Nhar continues to play that he's been continues to play the way that he has been playing. uh that would soften the blow if you have to lose Brandon Williams because you've got uh a Ryan himar who could be a part of your your guard rotation uh going into 2026 27. So >> and NBA if I'm remembering right draft comes before free for free for free for free for free for free for free for free for free for free for free agency. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> So they might have already drafted a point guard by then like they might already have Nim Hard and then drafted a point guard. So like it might not even be >> and they might again have to keep the Russ. technically might have three point guards in a month. >> Oh god. >> Brainf fart. Are any of the top like prospects point guards this year? I don't think they are. Right. >> Darren Peterson is basically a point guard. >> Three guards that'll be in the mavs realistic range of Darius Akuff and Mike Brown and Kingston Flemens. In the top 10 going to be three point guards that are going to be there. >> All right. Who's next? >> The knife. Oh my god. >> It would hurt but >> he's high. Yeah, I haven't. It would hurt butt. >> Yeah, I think he's at the top of that tier. >> Yeah, he's >> Oh, yeah. I forgot to ask is Brandon Williams okay right there? Is that where Okay. >> So, okay. So, I think Naji is a really I think Naji says more about the ranker than it does about his ranking. So, >> if you're trying to win, >> I'm hanging up the phone if someone calls about Naji, right? >> But if you are trying to prioritize other things, then it would hurt. but he's at the very tippy top because that is your probably maybe your most valuable trade piece. >> He's only making $9 million. He's been one of the best in getting into the paint this season. >> He's been incredible in the restricted area. >> Um Naji's value is really really good. I mean there might >> he's I would guess a top 10 valued contract in the league. Yeah. based on the way he's playing. >> It's good value. >> And like that's where Okay, you add him with DLO's contract that gets you, you know, up to like 16 mill. That's a mid-level exception kind of salary. >> Yeah. Um >> that get you some stuff. >> So, we'll go with Naji. And yeah, it would hurt, but >> he has to be top, right? >> I think he's the top is like the borderline. >> Like he should be like in the middle almost like >> I'm not hanging up the phone. If you talk if you want to talk like a role player, >> I am if you're offering me some gobbledygook. Yeah. Yeah. Sure. Yeah. But if you're coming to me with a legitimate, you know, let's talk by the end of the day. Yeah. You have to listen. >> You want to hang up the phone. But yeah, you have to you got to listen on Naji. >> This hurts. But >> let's keep going. Who we got? I would say like I need to call you back. I need to take a walk. Yeah, exactly. >> Oh man, I'm protecting first. >> Uh, tough one. PJ Washington. [laughter] >> I I think PJ's got to go in the PJ tier. What do y'all think? Yeah, he can't be traded this year. >> Um, >> wow. No debate here. So if it's unanimous someone I think one of the real some debate >> I think one of the real interesting discussions though will be after this year because >> it would hurt butt for sure. >> I think that's where he would go at the end of this year. >> Would he be higher than a Marshall? >> Yes. Yes. >> I'm pretty sure the league probably would like PJ Watson more. >> PJ is an extremely good player. Yes. >> Well, he's like a forward. >> He fits on literally every team in the league. Literally every single basically every team. >> He'd be good as a starter. He'd be good as your sixman. Either or he's good. So, so yeah, if we were doing this at the end of the season, end of the summer, he would be it would hurt. But, but right now, he can't be he be traded, but he's going to be very very interesting uh to discuss when we get to the summer because >> yeah, >> his value continues to to go up. >> If he's your worst shooter, >> and he's on a good contract, too. He's on a on a >> on a pretty good contract as well. Uh let's squeeze one more in before we go to break. >> Jayen Hardy, >> negative value. Oh, god. Yeah. So, this is difficult. Yeah, >> he's probably got less value than Dante, right? >> Uh, >> I'm putting I'm putting him in. >> Oh, that's >> Kayla Moore has your worst value for sure. >> Oh, yeah. Caleb Martin's got worse. [laughter] >> No, I No, he doesn't. At least Martin can give you some symbolis. >> Oh, dude, but he's got three years left on his deal. >> It's years 30 million. >> Caleb Martin is 27. >> You owe him $30 million over three years. >> That's the problem. Hard Hardy's done after next year at least. >> I think Martin ages better with what he does from a skill set standpoint than what Jaden Hardy does. Ages better. >> What does >> He'sing good now. >> What does Jaden Hardy do? >> Hardy scored 17 points in the fourth quarter against Minnesota like three weeks on the other end. Blow out. >> What does he do on the other end? He gives it all back. >> Gives it all back on the other end. >> I think he's better defensively than Martin is offensively. >> That is not a compliment by the way. >> You know [laughter] what? That might be true because how Caleb Martin is like might be the worst offensive player in the NBA. >> His three-point percentage is in the single digits. >> But you don't ask Caleb Martin to shoot three-pointers. You ask him to defend. He does that better than Hardy can do that on offense. But he but he makes 50% more money and has an extra year on his deal. >> Well, he has more value in today's NBA than Hardy does. >> I don't think so. >> I think neither already does a score. >> But I don't I don't think that a dude that's three years $30 million teams are going to be like I would >> Well, I think the year expired before his [laughter] contract expires. >> Like at least Hardy becomes expiring next year. >> That's the only positive. >> If you're close to winning a championship, Martin would bring more value than what Jaden Hardy would. >> Championship playing from the bench. >> I don't think either of those guys is going to be on the title team anymore. >> No, I'm not saying they like the 12th guy. >> If you ask [laughter] me which one I Yeah, he's Oh, he's 30. So, okay. >> Oh god. [laughter] >> Wo's comment is really funny. picture. What a what a photo, brother. >> You're wish I thought I thought Martin hadn't turned 30, so he's 30. >> I mean, we are splitting hairs. >> Yeah, we're splitting hairs. >> Caleb Martin is 30 and we'll be So, next is 31y old. >> Honestly, considering they're both on the same team, it's like we're splitting it right now. >> Real quick, so he's 30 and he makes eight he makes 9 million this year. >> Hardy is how old? >> Easy. >> He's 24 25. >> He's real young. He makes 6 million this year, 6 million next year. >> 23. >> Martin makes like 10 10. >> Kayla I mean Jay Hardy's 23 years old. >> So you got a 30-year-old and Caleb Martin making 9 million. You got a 23-year-old and Jay Hardy making 6 million and he's expiring. >> Yeah. I would rather take Hardy literally every every day of my life. >> The age seven years >> extra year at 10 million >> money. >> Yeah. >> But I I KG's like defense technically could never be more useful. But >> I could find that more useful. He's getting DNPCD on one of the worst teams in the league. scenario would be on the floor for like the Thunder or the >> No, he's not playing rotation minutes on any team in the league right now. >> Neither is Hardy, though. >> I know, but Hardy That's why Hardy having less money in less years is so good. >> So, I think we're saying they're both pretty bad players. >> Oh, they're both they're both >> who wins first and that's the type. >> That's why this comment is so apt. The one that >> Yeah, [laughter] exactly. >> It's like poo versus poo. >> The fact that we've had the >> just for PG [laughter] poo versus poo. But the funniest part about this discussion is that we're arguing who has more negative >> value. [laughter] Like we're arguing who has more points right now. >> Poor dookie. Which one? [laughter] >> Either way, >> both of them are great. Both of them are really nice guys. >> Nothing that we say is personal about personal. Like this is straight up dollars and cents for >> both like really good. Like I talk to these guys all the time. These are great. >> That's right, [laughter] Luke. I see the vision. Defense was great. That's right. That's right. Yikes. >> Hardy is a really good player for a team that wants to Okay, I shouldn't read that out loud. >> I mean, he take Mercy, [laughter] man. Like, you want 25 garbage points, Hardy got you. He got you. Uh, Martin Bertton's place in Dubai. >> That was Bertton. Is it in Dubai? >> Wait, what? That's random. What? >> Why were you reading that comment? >> Because like what? >> Well, you read it. I was so shocked. Anyway, >> let's go to break and finish out the roster. This has been fun. >> Poop. We'll go around the association coming up in our next segment, but we'll finish up our Mavericks player trade value and assets tier here in just a moment. Wanted to make a quick note on the whole Brandon Williams deal that we were talking about him a few moments ago. So, with Brandon Williams, shout out to our friend of the show, uh, Bobby Mark. So, Bobby Bobby Williams, Brandon Williams contract is partially guaranteed. uh it becomes fully protected if not waved prior to 5:00 pm Eastern time on January 7th. So interesting wrinkle for Brandon Williams contract. >> I don't think that they can just cut him and have the money to sign Nemhard. I don't think but they might be able to. I'm sure that they would they would rather not do that though. >> Yeah, they'd rather not do that. He actually does like play for this team like a lot. >> Yeah. So healthy. >> Just another wrinkle there for Brandon Williams deal. Shout out to Erica in the chat. What happened? >> Ron said that if >> Oh, okay. Okay. Pav lobby. [laughter] >> These don't get past me. I hear it every time. >> Uh, and shout out to Patrick dropping Oscar. Thank you. >> Uh, [laughter] shout out to Patrick dropping the note about Davis Bertton's career playing in Dubai. Had no idea. >> Yeah. >> Shout out to him legend. >> The ABA league. >> Dallas is part of a Western Conference Final team. The bison jalapeno cheddar sausage from Wild Fork is like it is. >> It's legit. >> Straight heat. >> Yeah, it's legit. It is so good. >> I'm mad I missed the other like I I looked on the Twitter. We had like these like little sausage looking ice and links. I missed those. >> I think those were just that but chopped up. >> That's right. >> Oh. >> All right. Let's keep going with our Mavericks player tiers here today. Uh we left off by hotly debating >> uh Caleb Martin versus Jayla. >> This I'm ready for round two. >> Oh, [laughter] we'll save that. We'll save that for later. Uh who else we got? Tanner, >> this one should be fun. Anthony Davis. >> Oh boy. >> It's a good question actually. I have him in. Uh, >> are we doing this like today right now or just what is the scope of this? Like by the end by the trade deadline? >> I I say by the deadline for him. >> Okay. Because like today, right now, you're probably >> I'm calling and listening. I >> I had him. I'm calling and listening. But he's a really good He he's tough. He's tough. I'll just say that. But I had him personally as I'm calling and listening. But you calling is probably an instant L. You probably can't call. >> Okay. So, you lose a trade. Let's say in this hypothetical scenario, teams are offering you >> Luke Canard >> reasonably good value. That's that your best offer is like a B minus offer. Are you calling and listening on that or are you are you hurting butt or are you hanging up? >> I'm calling and listening. >> Oh, it wouldn't hurt though. Like, damn, we traded. Well, I mean, I guess we can you can't, you know, compare. >> Remove the emotion. Remove the emotion. Yeah, it's I just I cannot continue to bet on Anthony Davis's health. I can't do it. I I can't be in that business. >> If somebody you can get like one unprotected pick, a lightly protected other pick, and like salary, that's probably I'm assuming this B minusish offer. I don't think you're going to get like the pick on a young player and all this other good stuff at this point. >> I mean, Toronto Atlanta got to call me with something real >> Yeah. >> enticing. If you're talking about an aspiring a young player, a draft pick, I mean, I'm going to listen. I'm not going to just take the the first offer that comes to me on Anthony Davis. No, but I'm going to listen very intently when it comes to him because he's going to get he's going to turn 33 in March. His injury history is storied. >> He only is going to continue to get more and more expensive as his contract goes on. And yes, look, I get it. He's a top 15, top 20 player when he's healthy. Are you willing to bet on that? You've got to get a return of of a top 15 player. You're not going. >> Even Mason has a good comment on 80 is that it would hurt, but mainly because the return would hurt compared to the actual value of the program. It's like, you know, I don't want the bell to be rung again, but you understand what I'm trying to say. >> You're not going to get a top 15 [laughter] to 20. You're not going to get a top 15 to 20 player in return for anything. >> Then you can't I then I don't think you could trade. >> It's tough to the value. >> Basically, you have to take like half the value in that case. You're never going to get the return that you got. >> It's not about It's not even about Luca. It's just if you're not if you're not getting a good return. >> Kevin Durant didn't even fetch a top 15 to 20 player in his trade from the Rockets to the Suns. >> Well, no. Dylan Green and Dylan Brooks are those are good players. >> 20 something a game. >> They're not 15 to 20 players in the league, though. >> It can get that's still a good They got a good return. They got >> You think the M could even get Jaylen Green and Dylan Brooks? >> I would say no. >> Probably not. >> Like Jaylen Green's what under 25? I mean, I'm not >> I mean I wouldn't want Jaylen Green. >> I'm not a fan. I'm not saying I'm a fan of him, but like in just like NBA talk of like, oh, 25 guard with a top two pick, >> like if if that exact thing, so like Dylan Brooks, like quality rotation player, qual like starting caliber, playoff starting caliber player, Jaylen Green, who I let's just change this to like young player with some potential on a contract that might be too much, >> Jonathan >> with a couple picks or something. >> I would probably make I would make that deal. That was the math. >> Do they get any P in the Durant deal? They >> They got one or two, right, didn't they? I mean, we can at least look it up. I mean, um, >> probably a fazer type. >> It's Yeah, >> let him do it. >> That That's just gonna be my overall philosophy when it comes to AD is that I just cannot and will not bet on his long-term health as he continues to get more and more expensive. So, what was the deal? I don't know. [laughter] >> That's >> This is like three pages. I I think because uh when they made it, they started throwing other stuff into that deal. >> They got Dylan Brooks, Jaylen Green, the pick that became common Malawatch, a 2026 second round pick, a 2020 a 2032 second round pick. >> Well, they got top 10 pick though. >> The 10th pick, two twos, >> this year's draft, this past year's draft >> and two players. >> Well, if the math got a top 10 pick in this year's draft, and you get Dylan Brook and Jaylen Green, yeah, I'm making the trade. >> Yeah, I would do that >> again. And that's still not like amazing value. I think he's got to be the I think he's got to be the bottom of the it would hurt butt. >> I think a bottom of it would hurt butt because >> the talent is is really really >> I think you you can only trade him if you get a good offer. >> There is some line there's like a line of delineation, right, of what makes a good offer. I know that's very subjective, but like you can't just trade him to the first team that's like, you know what, we'll give you some garbage, you know? >> Yeah, I'm [clears throat] not doing that. But at the same time, I'm going to listen if someone calls. He's at the top of the I'm calling but listening for me. And there's probably a surprise thing that we're just not going to get the information on that's looking at Anthony. >> Ron, break the tie. Is he at the bottom of it Would Hurt or the top of I'm calling this? I >> I I think where he is is fine just because the talent is so high. But I I agree with KG. Like it's just the injury history. >> And plus, if you tell me in this particular scenario that I can get another pick in this year's draft in the 2026 class, >> it's water. It doesn't have to be top 10. >> Like I have my own pick and I get another one. >> Yeah. And you're talking about you're offering that for me for Anthony Davis. Yeah. Oh, hell yeah. You get Jaylen Brooks and Jaylen Green who >> for next year play basketball. >> That's a great return. >> That would be a great might be the best that you could get in a return for Anthony Davis. >> But even to be fair on the other end, the Rockets don't really regret trading that stuff. No, >> like I'm saying this team for Anthony Davis. They quote give up that stuff. They also win that trade. >> Like, oh, okay. Yeah, we get some young guy that probably can't play for us team that's trying to contend. Okay, we give up, you know, Dylan, you know, Dylan Brooks, Dylan Green, these rotational player, young player. It's like the Rockets are happy with that deal and the team that probably Anthony Davis if it's around that type of deal and if they have the type of depth also is not probably hurting. >> Uh, snowboarder with the comment, it's not worth it to keep AD and play flag Kyrie Clay and AD together. >> What does that mean? That's actually pretty good though. >> They're saying like the idea is like is it not worth it to keep AD so that they can all play together? those >> I mean the question I would ask back to you is how many games Anthony Davis gonna play with that group >> over under 15 >> like that >> yeah it's like whenever he's healthy it feel it's it's like a watching Anthony Davis is like watching a playoff series >> when he's healthy when your team wins it feels like you're never going to lose a game when he's when you lose a single game in a playoff series it's like the season is over >> like there is no shot we escape it right now we're riding the high >> and he falls the Yeah. And they're winning and it's awesome. >> But last night he was out, they lost to Utah. >> To Utah. >> Like they're about to play the Pistons. They're about to play the Nuggets again. They're about to play the Warriors. And like he I don't know. >> Not good. >> And the calf cons is in the same calf that he missed 14 straight games for. >> Like we need we need to ban calves. We got to start wearing calf protectors. Calf injuries have destroyed the NBA. It's just been unreal, man. It's just unreal. Uh, all right. Who we got next? >> Daniel the Landlord Gaffford. >> I'm calling. Yeah, I'm calling. I'm calling. >> I'm literally I'm calling until my number gets blocked. >> You want him? >> Yeah. >> Top three protected. >> Is he at the top? >> Like very like protected first. Like again, a top four protected, let's say. >> Dude, he might be at the bottom >> or Oh, I guess it depends on how you >> cuz he's he's very likely to be traded. >> No, he's at the top of the I'm call That's fair cuz he's at the top. is a good player and you you want you you can't just give him away >> give him away for anything. >> Um yeah first yeah but I I am literally just like I'm >> I'm like >> I'm I'm replying to people and then I'm retweeting my reply so that they get double notified like I am I'm trying to get this done today >> at channel. >> Yeah. Yeah. I'm at channeling >> I'm calling speed dial. That's what Johnny said. And of course, Gaffford [laughter] making on average $18 million a year, which is really good money for a big man uh in today's NBA. >> Makes less than Yaka Purleto, right? >> Significantly. >> Significantly less. >> To be fair, I'd probably rather have Daniel G than Yaka Purtole. >> Of the players that we've talked about so far, the most to me the most likely to be traded >> is Daniel Gaffford. the smoke around him continues to get hotter uh by the day, even with the ankle injury that he's been been dealing with. So, make room for Moose. Um >> Oh, we have a question. >> No, he only has like 23 games left, so >> you got to make room quickly for >> quickly for Moose. [laughter] >> Very quickly. >> Would the Cavs trade Evan Mobley for Anthony Davis? The answer is no. >> No. Are you kidding me? If I was the Mavs, >> I would do that in a hurry. Yeah. Make that happen. If I was the man, I would fake like I was hurt. Like, oh man, we don't want to trade AD. We'll do it for you. We'll do it for you. >> I would drive to Cleveland and pick him up. >> Yeah, exactly. >> That would like trade like everything for Dallas. >> The simple question back to that would be why would the Cavs do that? >> Yeah. >> I have no idea. >> Moley has his own calf injury, right? Yeah, he's dealing with his own. >> We'll take that calf over here. >> I mean, if you talking about you going to give me the ring, >> we welcome all bad calves. >> Yeah. [laughter] Bobby told me he would donate his calf to have a mobile franchise. It would make him it would he would lose about a foot of his height. >> Yeah. Yeah. Wouldn't be a big calf >> for him. >> Before we go to break, how many players do we have left? >> I was uh five. So >> Oh, wow. >> Yeah. We might even remember when we doing the whole show enjoying it. Interactive. People are enjoying it. >> We'll just keep teasing. We're going to talk about the NBA cup and then we never do. >> That's right. [laughter] Cavs aren't guarded because of Moy. Um, >> that's actually an interesting team I haven't thought about for Anthony Davis. I don't think it would work because of the salary stuff, but like >> Moa's on a >> It it wouldn't be Moa. I started there. Would not be Ev, >> but like Darius Garland. Talk to me. I mean, I'm just I'm just saying for Cleveland. This is Don Mitchell's team now. It It was fun. It was cute in the beginning. Oh, it's Moy's team. >> I don't know if it's gonna be his team for long. >> Donovan Mitchell's team. So, it's like >> Oh. Oh, wow. Okay. >> Oh, okay. >> Was that Winhor? they uh they're not very good >> and you know >> so I' I've heard you know some people saying Mitchell might be some teams are calling >> I mean the Lakers are clear teams are calling that Donov Mitchell >> Don like was the first team I think all NBA last year >> yeah Donovan's been fantastic they >> yeah he's good so my only thing is Cleveland actually is interested because they might get desperate and the team the team that's tra for Anthony Davis will be the desperate team it won't be the team that's like oh we're already good Let's add more. It's going to be the desperate team. >> Let's take our final break here on the DLS Mavs podcast. When we come back, we finish up our Mavericks trade asset tiers and maybe talk about the NBA Cup. We'll do that next. >> Hello, hello, hello, hello. We got this thing called the Die Hard program here at DLS Sports and you can sign up to become one by scanning that QR code. That's right. Stop waiting. just go do it right now after the show. Thanks. Yes, please. >> I like to keep a job. >> Yep. Me, too. Let's finish up here on our show today as we continue with our Mavericks trade asset tiers. Uh we've had some hotly debated discussion around certain players on this team. Uh we finished discussing Anthony Davis and Daniel Gaffford. Uh let's continue to finish up with the rest of the Mavericks uh on the squad as well. Uh who we got next, Tanner? Next is >> joking. Oh. >> Uh, next is Cormarmac. Max Christy. >> It would hurt, but right. >> That was my initial thought. >> What would you What would you trade Max? Why would you trade Max? I guess >> I actually >> Or like to achieve what end? >> I have no clue. >> Is he untra? I mean, but he's not untradeable, right? >> I mean, is he if he's helping me acquire a top five player in the league, >> but like that's not happening. >> It already has happened. [laughter] It's literally already happened. I >> had that worker at the time that happened. >> It is literally already happened. >> I think I think Max is kind of like Naji, but Max is different because he's younger. >> Yes. >> So, and but he makes such a he makes 7 million, which is that's a lot of money, but relative. That's not >> It's nothing for a skill set. >> That's like significantly below the average for a starter. Yeah. Like I I'm almost hanging up the phone. >> Look at the chat. Everyone's saying hang up. >> Yeah. I'm I I might be hanging up the phone. I'm trying to think like what in the world like undermount realistically >> you're young the what players you could trade for like would they give us a top three pick that's what I'm saying that'd be dumb for the other team that's more realistic though >> yeah I mean >> no one gives you a top four pick for Max Christie >> he wasn't as good as he was >> when he got traded than he what he is now so >> he was he was going up though he's getting better every year >> he's to me right next to Naji as far as it would hurt >> I'm I'm hanging up I I'm I'm hanging hang up. Everyone is saying hang up. This is crazy. >> I just don't know what you could get, but he's a role player, so I can't say hang up because he if somebody calls us the right deal, you have to do it, right? Like you have to listen KJ. That's that's that's why I have him there. >> He's a 46% three-point shooter. >> He plays he's a good wing defender >> and he's a good defender and he's 20. >> Every team wants this position, by the way. >> And he's he makes 7 million this year, 7 million next year, right? >> But he's also extension eligible this summer where >> 8 million next I'd rather have him than like a lot of good players in the league. >> So again, friend of the show, Bobby Marks, let us know that he's eligible for a fouryear $93 million contract >> that wouldn't be kicking in until after next season. I still have one more year at 8 million. Dude, I think he's >> I I >> I don't I'm not hanging up the phone because I think Max Christiey's like a future superstar, but based on that value, I'm hanging up the phone. >> But his archetype is like the most popular traded archetype that every single team in the NBA wants. Again, Herb Jones is a bad offensive player, >> but because he can make a little bit of threes, it's like, you know what, three and D guy. >> And Johnny, I think makes a good point, every team would want a type of Max Christie, which is why every team, >> which is why he would be at the top of my it would be it would hurt, but because to me, and I guess I'm spoiling mine, uh to me, there's only one player on this team that is virtually untouchable or that is untouchable, and it's Cooper Flag. He's the only one to me that belongs in the hang up the phone tier. >> I actually really like the McCall Bridges comp. >> They're like very similar players, especially this age. McCall was a very late bloomer as well. >> I think Muel Bridges was a better defender at the time he got traded. >> Uh yeah, >> I don't know that Max will ever be, but male is not the defender he was. All >> like the surprise of Male was got good of a score and Matt's a better shooter than MCL Bridges probably is currently. >> Ron, you got to break the tire. Are you putting him up top or you put >> I have at the it would hurt butt cuz I I I agree with K like >> there's only one player on >> be a superstar. >> I'm just trying to think of like realistically legit. >> What are you trading Max for? >> A top five player. He's part of a top five player deal. >> Okay, so that's not happening though. >> But yeah, it's not. >> It already happened. I know. But it's not happening. >> I don't think it's realistic. It's not happening. >> Yeah. Yeah, >> there's no there's just no way that they would I can't you I could realistically imagine a scenario in which they trade Naji this year this year. Like >> they're not trading max this year. >> I cannot ever imagine them trading Max this year. Like I I can't even fathom the kind of deal >> if someone offered unprotected first. How like high would you have to get that? It'd be top 10. >> It would need to be like from the Wizards this year. >> I'll put that's it. I'll put Max for that. I would put Max ahead of Naji in the it would hurt butt category because he's younger, he's on a cheaper deal, and has a chance to be around for a long time. But yeah, >> it's not that we're overrating Max is the contract. That's what matters so much. I mean, first off, I mean, he is ve he's very good. I mean, he's one of the best shooters in the league by percentage and he's a he's one of their better defenders, but he's only making 8 million this year and 8 million next year. That's two years at like onethird of what he could be making, which is incredible value. Incredible. >> And he and to be fair, he'd be over it even more if he was on a team like a Thunder team. Like that's the type of players that Thunder covet. >> Oh, they win the title because of Max Christy's Aaron Wiggins and AJ Mitchell's. And they have a five Max Christie. That's the reason why they won the title. You can't win the title without a Max Christie type player. So basically, we have to trade him and then get him back again like another version of another player. Like you cannot win a title without a Max. Every title contender has one. really good. >> And Lance, the only reason why I was taking up for Caleb Martin a little bit is because he offers something that Jade Hardy doesn't, which is some semblance of defense, >> which yes, >> like that's the only reason why it's the choice between two really bad options. Uh this is why they're in the categories that they are, but that would be my defense for why I was sticking up for Caleb because he at least offers some semblance of a defensive player, which does not. Um, but yeah, Max I think belongs at the very top of it would hurt butt because and the other I was going to say that the other part about Max Christie too is can he do this for a year? Can he do this for you know for the rest of the season and continue to be where he's at cuz I believe in the leap. I want to see it for the rest of of the year. >> Agreed. >> Um, who we got next? >> Hard for Nimhard, Mr. Ryan Nimhard. >> So that's only assuming that they're able to sign him to a contract which they're eligible to in January. So that's why I included him. You can't trade him right now because he's on a two-way deal. This is only assuming that they're able to sign him. >> I don't I'm be honest. He's very like Max Christie. I don't see a scenario where you trade him. I I don't really see like a what what would you get to offer? Like what's the >> It would be I mean it it would be like instead of offering a minimum player to match salary, you're offering a player that's way better than the minimum. But that would presumably be making the minimum. He's like astron >> that I'm putting him after. I'm going the I'm calling and listening. >> Whoa. >> You're calling about Ryan Nhar. >> KG. No, dude. >> Here's the rational behind it. Here's the rational behind it. >> We've seen Nimhard do this for how many games? >> Uh, he's played 14. Played 14. Maybe 15. I don't know. >> And he's been a starter for what, seven, eight, eight games? Eight games now. >> So, I want to see more. If it's legit, he's gonna go in the it would hurt butt category. But right now, I need to see more of a sample size. >> So then why would you want to trade him? >> Well, somebody might want to buy high on him. >> Yeah, but so I I would only trade him if it was a a buy high situation, >> which is why I think it would I would put him in. >> Who's buying high on this on a 5'11 guard? Like >> that's what I'm saying. That's why >> where is this trade NBA history? I think it's really respectful that he's in the I'm calling and listening because he's been producing at such a level already in a short sample size. Like if he get does this for the entirety of the rest of the season, he's going in the would hurt butt because again there's only one player for me that's in the I'm hanging up the phone category. So for a bigger sample size for me, he would fit in the I'm calling and listening because if he continues to keep it up, yeah, I don't know. I would I would put him in the in the hurt one because that that tier represents to me like I would only trade him if I had to. Um, and I think the only reason that I would trade Ryan Nhard is if >> it was a situation where like Godfather >> Yeah. where throwing in Brandon Williams or Dante Exom's minimum salary wouldn't they'd be like, "No, we will we were I I will only make this deal with you if you include that guy." And that means that he's held in really high regard. So it would suck to trade him. You know what I mean? >> So that means at minimum then that you're calling and listening. >> I'm not I'm not calling anyone about him. No, >> they call You have to call you basically what you're saying. >> Yeah. They got to call me and I'm saying I'm not get I'm not >> he's not for sale. I mean I'm not saying that that he's untradeable or that I'm hanging up the phone or whatever, but it's like I'm not I'm not trying to get off this guy. >> KG is speaking up to Brunson. So ask cute girl. >> I'm blaming see more of [laughter] a bigger sample size. Like I appreciate your your critique on my take. I really appreciate that that you know you feel like my taste has been bad today. >> But look man, I want to see it more in a bigger sample size. That's fair. But that that so then that suggest like I mean the tier list are basically like most like the highest value, second most value, third most value, fourth most value. So I don't think I think he's got way more trade value than Brandon Williams. >> Oh, I mean >> and like >> that's what I said. You put him right behind Gaffford. >> Yeah. Like but way significantly more. Like I'm not >> more than Daniel Gaffford. >> Well, I'm I I would rather keep Ryan Nimhard over Daniel Gaffford. Yes. It's not close, >> but Yeah. >> Oh wow. Okay. I mean, I'd rather keep a very I'm known as a Gaffford I'm known as a Gaffford hater. So, it's >> Yeah. I mean, I personally I rather have Ronnie Martin than Daniel Gaffford as well. I'm not saying he's a better player than Daniel Gaffford. That's not what we're saying. What we're saying is that >> uh [laughter] he might be a better player. >> You You can be a worse player than somebody but have better value than them. Like, this is trade. This is not 2K ratings. Like, we're trade value and 2K ratings are not the same. >> There's a chance he's a better player. And he's also definitely on a better contract. >> Yeah. So I mean his value is higher than Daniel Gaffford for sure in my like for this team not in trade in a trade Daniel Gaffford has higher trade value clearly >> but for this squad to stay on this team for the next three years you'd rather have to be Nimhar than Gaffford >> and no I'm not trying to set everything on fire I'm trying to just paint a realistic picture of what these players are like Nimhar >> need it's not realistic I mean it's your take it's it's your it's your opinion >> I'm saying realistic for me I just want to see a bigger sample size from Ryan Nhar if he continues to keep this up for the rest of the season over the next 50 games that they have left. Like he's going in the it would hurt butt category and he's probably going toward the top with Max and Naji. Like I think that's fair to see more of it. >> I I'd put him there already. I don't know. What do you think, Ron? >> What? >> Where are you putting him? You You got to break the tie again. >> Oh god. [laughter] I mean, I think I had him It would hurt cuz I just don't see a realistic trade that you would get. What are you getting for this guy? like he's not like you said size is not big as K's already said you can't get anything for >> it would be tacking him on to a veteran to get a guy that is better than the veteran you're trading so like Gaffford plus Nhard for a really good player like hey man it's a Raptor trade you know we want to include Emanuel Quickley I'm like well pass then bro >> I'd rather have Ryan than Emanuel Quickley man is a good player probably better than Ryan Mr. He's getting paid $30 million a year. I rather have Ryan Mr. Bro. I really believe that. >> And no, Isaac and I are not texting each other trade scenarios. >> Kevin and Isaac do text each other all the time. >> We do text each other. We don't text each other trade scenar. >> Uh you can't confirm that. [laughter] >> I can't confirm he's the insider on that. >> No, we're not texting each other's trade scenarios. >> Again, I set the bar really high for the hang up the phone. >> No, I got you. >> No, same. >> Uh and a pretty high bar for the >> But yes, anyway, >> it would hurt. >> We're already long. >> Yeah. For me, the only my only hang up the phone so far would be Max. >> Uh, so uh Klay Thompson >> calling. >> Yeah, I'm calling and listening. I'm calling and listening. I'm calling. >> He probably has played his way into positive value at this point or at least neutral value. Neutral value. >> Yeah, >> I think I think Troy could really use him off the bat. >> I mean, I think like, let's be honest, because his name is Klay Thompson, it would actually suck so much to trade him cuz I just like I really like Klay Thompson. >> N I do like Clay. >> You got to do what you got to do. a bench team that can use shooting. He's kind of perfect. >> Yeah, for sure. >> Yeah. And it's unfortunate for Clay because he didn't sign up for this situation. >> Did not. >> He did not. He did not sign up for this. So, I'm trying to do right by Clay. And if there's an offer that's good that allows Clay to get to a championship contending situation, >> you do you do right by Clay in this situation because he didn't sign up for this. >> He didn't sign up for this at all. >> Good. >> Really, the only question is, is he above Gaffford or is he top of I'm calling >> I think he's above. >> Okay. because he brought he provides something that every team can utilize. >> You think like you get more for Clay? Are we saying or you say you get more for I think you get more for Gaffford. >> I'm I'm a more soft I'm trying harder to get off Gaffford than Clay. >> I think >> that's a good question. >> You're trying harder to get off Gaffford more so than Clay? >> I am. Yes. >> I don't know. >> I think I'm trying to move harder off of Clay because Clay is older and he's got guaranteed money. I like what he does for the other players though. >> Uh that's that that's a tough one. We're already long so I won't >> at seven or something right now. Yeah, but he's at the he's on in on >> They're close is the point. Yeah. >> Uh who we got left? Kyrie, I'm hanging up. Leave me alone. >> I have him in it would hurt butt tier. >> He's at the top of it would hurt butt tier. >> Dang. Y'all are y'all are tough. >> And this is at the end of the summer. >> Like we're TRYING TO DO. >> YEAH. Like it would hurt badly, but we're trying to team build here. >> I have heartburn. >> Like let's get down to brass tax. This team is old. >> Like it's expensive. >> My heart would cease beating. >> Like somebody says, "Hey, two picks for Kyrie." >> Love you. >> Yeah, but again, [laughter] let's get down the brass tax. He's going to be 34 in March. He's coming off a torn ACL. He's going to get more expensive, make it over $40 million as the rest of his career goes on. This is an old expensive tax apron roster. If someone calls me this summer, I'm not doing it this year. I'm not doing it this year. But if someone calls me this summer and Kyrie comes back, plays well in the last 2025 games of the season and has value, I'm listening. >> You have to get younger and you have to for anything BS. I'm not saying I'm not saying that I'm going to trade Kyrie Irving, but I'm going to listen in the summer if a team calls me on. >> Sure, but this isn't the summer. This is February 6th, and he's probably not playing before February 6th. So, there's no reason. Well, then again, you're trading a guy just like with AD if you trade him while he's hurt or trade Lively while he's hurt. You're trading a guy that isn't playing. >> All the reasons that No, wait, you can trade him, but all of the reasons that you said that you would trade him are the reasons why teams wouldn't want to offer a lot to get him. I also think that yes, I agree. The Mavs are very old team, >> but they're partially old because they have Clay, because they have Gaff, because they have Dwight Powell, because they have DLO. All those guys are all going to be gone, I think. So, even if you have a if you have a younger team around Kyrie, I I just I'm I would never >> skil players like ever. >> The only way I'm trading Kyrie is if Kyrie wants to get traded, but I don't really think he wants to. >> No, I think he likes it there. >> Yeah, >> from my >> So, what's the verdict? >> I I don't mean they both they both said it would hurt, but >> Yeah, I don't think he's unable. >> I'm severely out, >> but me and KG like would want like a this big offer, which is probably not going to happen. I want all the same accord like cuz if they if they got a big they got two first ball we would probably want to trade Gary >> maybe I don't know >> if they got one unprotected one lightly protected >> it depends >> and like salary to get off >> it depends on my mood that day >> again this has nothing to do with you know >> my thought process is what would happen this summer but yeah >> I love this comment yeah I'm not part ways with Kyrie thanks [laughter] >> that's why I know I respect you Texas I'm not respect. >> But yeah, I mean if let's put ourselves in Kyrieus for a second or try to anyway like if you're at this age >> are you content with being on a team that in the next two years isn't going to be close enough to win a championship if that's your desire to try to go get another one. That's a decision that he's going to have to think about and make. >> Is that I don't know if that's his desire. That's what I'm saying. Like I don't know what he values. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. The Mavs are desiring that right now. >> That's why I was saying like put yourself in Kyrie. Is that something he desires if he wants to stay here? I think so. He's already a champion, >> but I'm saying if he wants another one by the time he retires, if he's on a Giannis plan of, hey, I need another championship to continue to build my legacy. Okay. What What contender level team could trade for him? >> Houston. >> I guess they could. Yeah, >> Houston could do it. >> I'm not breaking. >> Give me Fred Van Lee and Amen Thompson, >> but like [laughter] A Thompson Karina football like I'm tossing him over the fence, brother. Love you, [laughter] but give me a Thompson. you I'm 30 to Houston myself like freaking eight man like like this team is old like [laughter] >> AD is going to be 33 in March. Kyrie's going to be 34 in March. Klay Thompson is already 35. >> The your three theoretical best players on this team aside for Cooper Flag. >> It's old team and they're expensive. Like we don't have to we don't have to sugar coat this. >> He's not anywhere near a >> The big problem is that he's expensive. >> Yeah, they're that's the big problem that's >> like we don't have to sugar coat this. We don't have to >> carry pick and expiring. You have to sell like your the top of your roster >> is older and expensive. That's just the truth. >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> Um I think we're left for Cooper flag then. >> Yeah, I think that one >> untradeable. >> Yeah. Hang on. >> Negative value. >> Just kidding. >> Do we even need to like say anything? >> I genuinely don't know a player like that could be like >> I I don't know. I I genuinely don't know. >> Would you trade Coupe today and matching salary if it was a three team deal where you were getting both Joic and Shay back? >> Okay. [laughter] If you're giving me and Shay is like, >> "Yeah, I mean, of course." >> Well, then I'm calling and listening. >> I'mma be uh >> would you But if you could just get one of those guys make the choice. I don't cuz they wouldn't win here. >> Well, if I could get if I could get Jokic for Coupe, I probably would not trade Coupe. If I could get Shay for Coupe like young, right? >> Shay's still like 19 years old or something. >> No, he's like 27, I think. >> I mean, E couldn't he couldn't win here. He wouldn't win until he's like 30 at least. >> Eouble two three years. >> And who else says it? Kyle make a good point. If San Antonio calls me and says Victor for Cooper. >> Okay. No, that you know what got me though. Injury issues two years in a row. No, >> but that did SEE WHAT MR. WHIPYAMA DID TO THE DALLAS BASKETBALL. COME ON, MAN. It made me pause. Come on, man. >> Have you seen him play for the last >> Yeah, I've got a chance to cover the guy. >> He played on Saturday. >> That cat walked into that game against the Thunder for 20 minutes and was a plus 22 in 20 minutes. >> I've seen PJ play against the Thunder. I'm not impressed. >> Injuries scare me. Just like injuries scare me. the seven seven >> if it was straight up I wouldn't trade Coop for Wimi right now. >> Neither would I. >> Not right now. Not today. >> That's a tough one. I I I' I'd think about it. >> I did just watch Coupe score 40. [laughter] >> Getting true. >> Talk to Ask me next week. >> Ask me next week. And he goes cold. >> Maybe after tonight see what he does when you [laughter] have to listen Wimy's. Yeah. Wimby comes out. >> It's not that realistic as we all know >> and destroys the Knicks. >> The Spurs hang up the phone. Let's start there. like they're not. >> I think the Spurs were this close from getting both of those guys. >> So, okay, in in closing, I would have moved Kyrie and Max up. >> Um, and I would have >> I think everything else is sort of fine. I'm I'm sort of fine with our with the list. I know KG, you would have moved Nemhard down. >> Yep. I think that was your >> card right there along at the top of the I'm calling and listening list. Again, only because sample size >> run. Do you have any any big beef? I >> I think mine I think I'm pretty good with this. Somehow I was like the tiebreaker for most of these. So like this is probably all of my thoughts. >> Um for most this is just wrong. >> This is like my list basically is what it felt like. So uh I I think around on this and shout out to PJ tier man. >> Tanner. Uh yeah, I mean I'm there are a couple I would move. I'd probably, you know, uh move No. No. >> What would you move? >> No. No. I think I think uh I think Well, actually >> have some conviction. >> I think I would move DLO down to negative value. Uh >> and then Yeah, that's that's probably the only one. >> Is he D is the only person not smiling? Oh, no. Naji Mar isn't smiling either. [laughter] And >> Coup. >> Naji doesn't smile. >> Naji does smile. Ain't >> as funny. I'll be honest. He really is. >> N is a baller, man. N he smile. >> He smiles on the court. >> Off the court. I don't see him smile off. >> He only smiles if he is about to pop use of Nerk right in the dome. >> Nerkus didn't want that smoke last night. Didn't >> Yeah, Nerk had like the worst suit ever last night, too. Go watch the game. >> Nerk is about to do a lot of resting over the next three to four weeks >> because Mavs and Jazz four. >> Yeah, I think uh the Jazz about are about ready to um about ready to do that tanking thing um because they want AJ Deansa really badly. They better they better want to keep their pick. >> I'd like the Don't give it to the Thunder. >> You can go if you if you click the link in the description of the video, you can fill out your own tier maker, do it yourself, and then it allows you to export it as an image. Go ahead and tweet that. >> Tag us. >> Put it on the internet and tag us in the post. Either us or just DLS_mavs. >> Tag us. >> I will rate your horrible tier lists >> and you can I will also rate it >> on a scale of -10 to1. And you can also tell me how bad my takes were because I can't wait to see the comments for today. Kevin is an idiot. What if we go >> Oh, don't get all sensitive. Everyone hates me, too. >> Bobby, [laughter] what if hates your list on the show between me? >> We're the We have negative value. >> That's right. We have We have on the show. >> Somebody was ready to trade me off this show and I was like, I mean, yeah, they was like, yeah, trade Kevin the host >> at this point. Tanner's in the hangup. >> That's right. He's in the hang up. as it would hurt. [laughter] >> Stein is always on the phone. He's always calling. He's always calling. >> Stein's just negative value apparently. And then GM is the PJ. >> That's right. >> We should get We'll go full meta and we'll get everybody's tiers that they send us and then we make >> tier list. That's a good one. >> We'll tear tier lists is actually pretty >> You're all incredible to me. Die hearts. >> Yes. >> Oh, that's sweet, Ron. That's sweet. >> What? Not even for Wimi. [laughter] Not even for Wendy. Not even for Wendy. >> Wouldn't trade like Sarah for not pay my bills. Sarah makes the non trade. She's the hang up and you know she's our she's our lawyer. We trade. >> She's literally hang up the phone if they come call. >> That's the only person I'm not trained with before. The die hards. >> Uh so there >> rather have them doesn't pay me. >> Well, by the way, real quick uh couple minutes. Who wins the NBA cup tonight? >> It's tonight. It is tonight. >> I don't know. Nick guess I don't know. Knicks. I have I have no I have no thoughts. Uh the Knicks. Okay. >> Wy's playing Jaylen Brunson. I >> I'll go Spurs. >> I'll go Spurs. >> I'll go with the Spurs, man. >> Dylan Harper's a good player, man. >> Um Stefan Castle is turning into a monster defender. He has been really, really good. >> Really big wing. >> Um I would I'd love to see the match between him and Jaylen Brunson tonight. >> Oh, we actually have to stop the show cuz the Stars on that. We got to We got to >> Man, the Stars be going an hour and a half long their game is over with. So, no, I'm just playing. >> Love you everyone. Actually, I'm not playing. They do that. 1. I'd rather trade AD for the best package we can get, before he gets hurt. Even if he doesn't get hurt I rather get rid of his contract to free up money. I also think Flagg would pick up alot of experience if we did make the playoffs, but I think he will get alot more experience if we did trade AD and Flagg can be our #1 option instead of AD, to me that's more important because that's what we want Flagg to be for the rest of his Mavs career.

  2. They are going to play with AD and see if can get to .500 and if Kyrie is coming back soon they will most likely go for it. If not then trade AD asap because they are too good of a team with him in lineup and we won't be in top 10 in lottery

  3. Tier 1 is Cooper
Tier 2 is Kyrie, Nembhard, Gafford, Naji
Tier 3 is AD, Klay, Lively, Williams, Cisse, Christie
Tier 4 is Exum and Martin

If PJ were trade eligible he would be tier 2

  4. I’d love to come out of the draft with Chris Cenac and Isaiah Evans. Forget drafting some future top 10 guy and focus on good players who will compliment Cooper Flagg. Let’s get athletic floor spacers who aren’t made of glass and let Flagg do his thing.

  5. If the Hawks offered me Porzingas, the 18th pick, Newell and whatever else it takes to balance the deal for AD I’d take it and run away giggling.

Forget sunk costs. Forget what he’s like in those rare moments on the court. This gets me under the second apron next year, some room to make moves and 2 nice young players who will compliment Cooper Flagg and who fit his timeline.

It’s not about ego or keeping score. It’s about making us a better team by building around our star.

  6. Max not being in the “Hang up the phone” category is blasphemous ngl. KG is saying that only superstars should be in that category but superstars don’t win championships alone. You guys literally said you can’t win without a Max Christie type player. So why would we even consider trading him just to have to acquire his archetype again? Makes absolutely no sense 😭
