Justin Herbert, Chargers look ‘relentless’ heading into postseason | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC

And let’s give the team that won some some props because they’re not at full strength. And Jim Harbaugh continues to coach that team. Herbert continues to get his ass beat in every football game right now. And they hang in there. I mean, I I got to give that. >> They’ve become the personification of Jim Harbaugh. >> They lit They really are. I mean, they’re every game is like they’re wobbly on the ropes and then they’re like, “Oh, I hit a jab. Oh, we got him. We’re starting to wear him out.” I mean, they really are. the the drive before the half where Herbert throws the touchdown in the back of the end end zone to KLS Keandre Lambert Smith. That to me was the point of like, wow, Kansas City really controlled the first half of the football game. The Chargers really couldn’t do anything. And they got the ball in their own 40 and Justin Herbert made a few throws down the field and with what was it about 10 seconds left, he drops back to pass. He kind of throws a wobbly pass in the back of the end zone and Lambert Smith catches it to then go in at halftime. >> That was not a catch by the way. >> 13-10. >> That was not a catch. >> Oh yeah, it was You’re right. It was definitely questionable. 13-10. And from that moment on in the second half, not that it was pretty, but you never we couldn’t see Kansas City kind of getting the offense going. Everything was work again. No run game. And if it wasn’t Momes making a play or doing something backyard, nothing could happen. and just the Chargers just chip away. They have the right approach for what they’re doing. They’re trying to run the ball. They’re trying to throw the ball quick because they know they can’t protect all that much. Uh Justin Herbert is got a phenomenal feel right now to go, “Wait, is this guy open? I don’t think we can protect very long. Let me just move up in the pocket or run or do something like that so I don’t create a negative play.” They’re just playing to win the football game, but they’re doing what they have to and need to do with the current state of their roster. And hopefully their O line can get a little healthier here. Uh but yeah, that was a big time win for the Chargers on the road in >> and they played Monday night into overtime. Exactly. And had to go on the road to play in Kansas City. Both of the teams that played Monday night into overtime >> had to make long trips. Eagles had to make the long trip home Monday night and they were dominant against the Raiders. And again, multiple teams have been, but the Chargers completing the sweep, as I said earlier, for the first time since 2013 and getting themselves in better position for a playoff birth. And they with this mindset, with this grittiness, with this toughness, with this relentless never say die, they could be a dangerous team in the postseason. >> Oh, yeah. I mean, you know, I I they’re one of those like you what if what if that O line stayed healthy? What would they be? Because they could be scary. But they’re going to be scary in the in the postseason regardless because we know the quarterback and they’re going to have the proper offensive game plan. And like we’ve talked about a number of times this year. Again, this is why Jesse Miner is up the defensive coordinator for the Chargers. You hear his name being floated around for head coaching jobs because he’s really creative. He’s really smart as far as what they do game planwise. And if you can’t run the ball on the Chargers, it’s the NFL. It’s 2025. I know everyone wants to throw the ball, but man, if you just try to make a living throwing the ball on the Los Angeles Chargers, it’s not going to go well. And just like you saw yesterday, Mahomes, Gardner, Mchu, it doesn’t matter. People aren’t open. Interceptions were thrown. And that’s where that Chargers team is a real pain in the butt. >> Pet peeve alert. And you just reminded me of something. You know, if you watch college football, and I don’t watch much anymore because I travel every Saturday, but there will always be, oh, that guy’s going to play on Sunday. Oh, that guy’s going to play on Sunday. Oh, that guy’s going to play on Sunday. and like 5% of them do. You mentioned Miner’s name floating around and I’m not saying he won’t be, but if you watch the broadcast now, there are so many guys that are being hyped by the people calling the game. Oh, he’s going to be a coach. He’s going to be a coach. Hey, hey, there’s a very small handful of jobs. And I know there isn’t an overabundance of obvious candidates, but there’s always more guys who are, oh, he’s going to have a job than there are guys who get jobs. There’s some names that get thrown out there and I want to go, have they watched his unit this year? You’re you’re saying he’s going to be up for a head coaching job and there he’s coaching that unit. That’s where I I mean, I don’t want to go there with names, but there’s definitely a few out there want to go. Look, there are there are some names that get there are some names get thrown out there and you start connecting dots. Let’s see, his agent is here and his agent is here and they know this person and there’s a little handwashing and back scratching and that stuff happens, >> right, >> as well. Hi, it’s Mike Florio. 1. How can you say they’re trying to get the ball out quick?! Are you blind, greg roman has a 3rd and 11 and every receiver is 15 yards down the field, they only did ONE screen!! They SHOULD get rid of the ball quickly, they SHOULD give Herbert an easy button, but Roman only runs it or throws it down the field, which is fine if you have a line that can block! I won’t even start on how the receivers are constantly in the same area, running mesh in zone defense, knocking into each other! JFC Justin deserves a real OC

  2. Mike Florio has ZERO respect for the Chargers. I appreciate your efforts, Chris, to keep the discussion relatively balanced. You and your dad respect what Justin Herbert brings to the field. It is mind-boggling how Harbaugh has brought this decimated team to playoff probability. IF the Bolts win out, Division champs or first Wild Card, he should be in the genuine discussion for COY. He won't be, but he should.

  3. Thank you for defending Herbert and the bolts. Seeing Nick Wright CONSTANTLY bash him is just pathetic. And guys, he regained control of the ball while he had 2 knees in bounds

  4. BTW it was a catch all you have to do is open your eyes once you take off the homer glasses. Everyone else knows it was a catch. Don’t be stupid just for stupids sake

  5. Forget about whether receivers are open or throwing INT’s…the Chargers are wrecking receivers out there 💪🏼⚡️⚡️⚡️
