NHL Highlights | Blackhawks vs. Maple Leafs – December 16, 2025

better Matthews four goals in his last seven games. Not bad. Watch out for those three guys to really push it tonight. >> What to look for brought to you by Illinois Lottery. This one’s underway. Glad to have you with us. Chicago Sports Network. Rick Ball with Steve Conroy filling in for Darren Paying tonight. Max Doy takes a bump down low. The two number 11s come together and it’s Moore who winds up with the puck. Skates it out for the Hawks. That young line for the Hawks out there. Moore Green and Nick Lardis. Oakville, Ontario native, Toronto suburb in his second NHL game number 76. >> Good decision there from Del Mastro. Nothing he could do. Couldn’t get it on net, so he tried to put it off the end boards to have it come out front. Tyler Buzzi plays it back. Murphy with a shot. Wall makes his first save. Nazar knocked down in front of the goal. The rebound winds up in the corner. Tag Tele on the boards. Green gets the puck free. Flips it back. Del Master with a shot. A to save by Wolf. >> Greasy goals, dirty goals. That’s the exact kind of guy you want scoring those goals. Whether it’s in front of the net or goalmouth jams, that’s where he seems to get 90% of his goals. >> Yeah. So many of those shots are from 5 ft away, right? Exactly. >> Playing off him. He’s terrific at getting that back door play. Here’s a chance for Kaiser OFF THE FACE. HE SCORES. KAISER pardon me on the dock off the draw able to rip it in and the Hawks off a faceoff play able to open the score here in Toronto. Big face off win. He comes back to Kaiser. I like the fact he doesn’t shoot it watch right away. Watch him wait. Pulls it to the middle. Changes his angle a little bit and yeah, right off of Dominic Toninado who after he wins the draw goes to the front of the net. Excellent play by the Blackhawks. That’s a very big first goal for this team. And the key there, Wyatt Kaiser, not shooting it right away. Kind of walking it to his the middle, improving his shooting angle at the bench. So, uh, we’ll have to wait for the official. Yeah, a little confusing. Kaiser takes the shot and then Doc was in the slot and Tonado standing in front of the goal but I think might have just gone off Wal’s glove and there’s a power move off the end boards. Good chance there by MCKV SHUT DOWN IS SCORED IN A SCRAMBLE IN FRONT OF THE GOAL. >> There’s going to be an official call HERE. >> TORONTO IS CHALLENGING THE PLAY TO SEE IF there was goend interference. So there is a challenge. I believe that was McKay to kick it to his stick, get it on, and there’s the shove. And unfortunately, it looks like he does move the pad of Wool. And by moving the pad, it looks like maybe that pushes the puck into the net. And I think once the referee right there, you know, if that was in fact Dickinson’s stick pushing the pad and from overhead, we’ll look at it one more time. It looks like it is. Watch 16 as he turns around. He gets shoved. Coach’s challenge video review was determined that there was goalender interference. The Chicago player pushes the goalie into the puck into the net. No goal. >> Hawks with a 6-1 edge in shots. Had a lot of jump with his first period. Kier over the line. Long shot glove save. Trey from San Jose. The Ryan Reeves deal. Robertson up on the forche. Gets there ahead of Murphy. Passing back to the line. There’s Brun. Feeds it over. Benois with a bit of room and a shot stopped by Knight. Amazing. And there’s Austin Matthews closing in on Matt Sundine. Steve, >> it’s an amazing scoreer. Two years ago had 69 goals for the Toronto Maples. There’s a shot by Knander sneaks through a bad save by Knight. Matthews three time Bashard Trophy winner for most goals. Hawks get the puck. Blast it clears. Hawks penalty kill. We talked about it during the pregame show has been outstanding this season. Fourth best lease power play. A real conundrum with all the firepower they have. 30th in the league. 14.3% and there’s a turnover. Kier feeds it ahead. HERE’S MCKAY SHORT-HANDED WITH THE PASS. DICKSON SCORES DICKSON. SHORTHANDED GOAL. HAD ONE TAKEN AWAY. GETS ONE BACK AND THE HAWKS TAKE A TWO NOTHING LEAD. The Maple Leafs think he was going to shoot too. Trevy with a great stand up at the blue line. That starts the play. Literally becomes a threeon two. And that pass by McKay. Oh, that’s an absolute beauty. An open cage. And there you see the turnover by the Leaves. Prevy gets it going the other way in a hurry and Dickinson had three quarters. >> And here’s Morgan Riley. Knander from just inside the line with a shot. TIPPED STOPPED. KNIGHT DOWN. PUCK loose and the Hawks are on it. Nazar takes control. He’ll bring it out. Takes off down the right side. He’s got Tamina with him. THERE’S THE PASS. TAMINA BLOCKER. SAVE BY WALL. All the Hawks get another twoon-one shorthanded leaned on by Lawrence. Mave in there to help out. He takes a bump. Puck played back to the point. McKay fires it across. There’s a shot blocker saved by Spencer Knight and Murphy’s on the loose puck, able to clear it out. >> Looks like a routine save. That was a wellplaced rebound. A really wellplaced rebound by Spencer Knight. Literally out to the boards and an easy clear for the Blackhawks. >> And he plays center field there. Grabs the puck and then settle things down. Morgan Riley tipped on goal by N. Knight makes a quick pass to the far side. And now Louis good first period but it was Dickinson who almost had two in that opening frame. The one disallowed and then moments later score short-handed. Second period’s underway around knocked down by Dickinson but the Leafs are on it. It’s N carrying out over to Matthews on the wing. The kneelander to the top of the circle FOR A BIG SAVE BY N on the one title by N on the back door. Look at our defender defensive play of the game and right there that save. Yeah, and and he was all the defense you needed. A big stop. Nice pass there by William Knander on the doorstep. Maybe N shoots it back into bounce free to N behind. N trying to get in front. Did but Matthews couldn’t get a shot away. There’s a shot by Stetcher. Turned aside by Knight from Spencer Knight up into the netting to get the whistle. A shot in front. A jam attempt by Nis from behind the net. >> Troy Stetcher off the goalender. Now it’s worked out by the Leaf short-handed. Nice play by Lton and a shot deflected off Knight wide to the goal. Got past with a uh a pretty good look here on Spencer Knight. They bring it to the middle as Lot and it gets through his glove and fortunately just goes wide right in the Knander shadow by Dickinson. So he’ll retreat towards the boards make a pass down low. Nice and bad save on the back hand by Knight. Knander shoots and that’s blocked. Bravely diving in front of that’s Conor Murphy. >> And uh a lot of scrambles around, but he never loses his net. And that that’s what I love about his play. Just calm, cool, and collected. >> Third period underway on Chicago Sports Network. Glad to have you with us. Rick Ball was good play by Kaiser at his own line. He got tripped up but able to make a play ahead. And Nazar gains the zone the other way. Doc tries THE SHOT. PSY REBOUND FOR TWO stopped by Wall with a left pad. Great stop by earlier though. It was a good stand up play by Wide Kaiser at his own blue line. And he gets him going the other way. And watch this rebound attempt. Oh, wall. Good thing he didn’t overplay it because he would have slid to the right out of his net. Check as he takes a spill. Joshua with the puck. Shoots and up the knob with the stick of Knight. Puck goes out of play. How Robertson will turn. Work it up the boards. Takes a look over his shoulder. Forced back to the line. Keeps it on side. Hassle by Lordis. Dropped off. Penis with a shot and that went wide >> and Knight’s able to squeeze the post and make the save on that chance by Cowan on the ricochet off the M board. That was in the NHL 81 82. He came in the next year but yeah, he’s been a fixture here in Toronto. Fans absolutely love him. >> THEY SCORE SHOT FROM THE LINE BY AMAN Larson deflected over the glove of Spencer Knight and it’s a onegoal game. >> Show you the importance of faceoffs and it looked like the Blackhawks had actually won it. Then they bring it back to Oliver Eken Larson. That’s Robertson. I think that kneelander doing the fly by in front of the net. And I think that just goes in by itself. I’m not sure that Spencer Knight sees this. Oliver from Larson with a little bit of time, a little bit of space. Important to make sure nobody’s coming off your body and that’s what Spencer Knight does. >> Faceoff win by Dickinson. MAHM HAD IT STOLEN. THEY SCORE. MATTHEWS ON the power play. And this game is all even. >> Well, I may have doesn’t make many mistakes killing penalties in this one, but the Blackhawks win a key draw. They bump it back to McKay and you know it it got poked off his stick. Wyatt Kaiser was tied up with one of the other Toronto Maple Leaf players and that’s William Knander and he actually bunts it out. So McKay, I take that back. That’s not really a mistake by him. That’s just an unfortunate stick by William Knander. Matthews first shot of the night ties this game at two with three minutes left and they score seconds later. Joshua makes it 3-2. 8 seconds after they tied it up right off the jaw. Watch number 81 who’s on the right side of the screen right now. Unfortunately, it’s Creier who gets beaten to the puck. Watch number 46. Yeah, he’s coming back. I don’t think he even thinks Joshua’s behind him. He thinks she’s going to pick up this loose puck, but I know he knew he was there. He just got out battled by Joshua. An uncharacteristic big rebound by Spencer Knight. >> 5 seconds to go. Kaiser plays him back to the point. Need a shot. Bent over Florida on stick. Tough break. And that’ll do it.

Auston Matthews and Dakota Joshua scored two goals in eight seconds in part of a third-period rally, and Joseph Woll made 23 saves in his first start back from injury as the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2.

  1. I think the Leafs uploads are the only one edited by a human so that's why it came so late. By the time the game was over, only bots where left at work.
