According to Joel Sherman, Mets sign Luke Weaver for 2 years $22M. It is pending physical.

  1. It’s probably a benefit to the Mets to sign players who won’t have to relocate to a new area. Probably matters quite a bit to players.

  2. He’s a legit ML reliever. Underlying metrics were meh last year but he has been a dependable arm appearing in 60+ games the last two years.

Maybe they saw something they liked in his stuff. I inherently trust Stearns with the pen. Last year we got chewed up by injuries and the trade deadline acquisitions didn’t all work out; they were still good decisions.

    He is a good piece.

Also Stearns appears to highly value ex-Yankees lol

  3. I like the move, not much to complain about at all. A good arm who under-performed analytics last year. Though it makes me wish we got Rogers because our bullpen would be looking super nice at this point.

  4. Good move, one more arm and I think the pen should be pretty much done… but wouldn’t be surprised if our next signing is a bat (I still think a padres trade could be coming up for morejon/estrada/another arm, can’t see us paying a crazy price for miller now with how stable the pen is rn)

  5. 2 years 22 milliom dollars is fair after what Rodgers got. Trade for both Megill and Perelta if the Brewers are being fair and then we have a nice staff

  6. I like this a lot, every Yankee fan I know is gutted (worth it alone) because pre-injury he was a revelation in the setup role – arguably their best reliever and definitely their most used. He was originally a starter so can be stretched to cover multiple innings if needed.

    Good pickup by Stearns.

  7. Nice! Here’s to hoping he continues his success with us. Alexa, play The Weaver System by Iotunn.

  8. The Mets have had one of the busiest offseasons so far.

Three notable signings and a big trade.

More is definitely on the way.

  9. Soto, Williams, Weaver, maybe Bellinger…

Are we 100% certain that Steve Cohen is not in fact three Steinbrenners in a trench coat?

  10. Mets BP should be fairly solid. Be nice if they could add at least one more quality arm to the Nunez (if he comes back healthy) Minter, Raley, Weaver and Williams mix.

  11. Yankees who have proven they can be successful in NYC should absolutely always be on the Mets radar. We’ve seen lots of guys come to the Mets and the Yankees and not be able to handle the pressure of NYC. Taking that worry off your checklist as a GM or POBO is a big plus when considering who to sign and/or trade for. Yankees have acquired tons of exMets over the decades too. Even great ones like Straw, Doc, Cone, Beltran, Ventura…etc.

  12. I’m a Yankee fan but come in peace. I wish Luke Weaver well. He was a great reliever for us in 2024 and then again last season until his injury. I hope you guys can fix him. He definitely has a lot of talent and is a great guy.

Don’t sleep on The Dream Weaver!

  13. Luke Weaver came down to earth last year. Not really impressed. Why does Stearns go after so many ex Yankees?

  14. At this point it’s about getting the best relievers you can and if someone doesn’t have to move it’s more incentive.

  15. The 2028 payroll just keeps looking better and better. Definitely worth getting 76 wins next year

  16. This fool Stearns shows you a mirage images of Mason Miller, Taric Skubal, Robert Saurez, Kyle Tucker….and then he sign Williams, Weaver, maybe Cody Bellinger, Peche, and for sure Paul Goldschmidt, Zack Peak, Isaac De la Cruiz, n Polanco. THIS IS WHAT WILL GET MET FANS EXCITED CMON. These penny pinching ideas work in Milwaukee not NYC.
