It is funny to see the Mets pick up all the Yanks scraps, but it's kinda smart too. Players get a reasonable deal and they don't have to uproot themselves or their families. Hard to say no to that if you're a husband and a father.

My devils advocate to this is that most of those moves (Severino, Holmes, Bader, even Soto) turned out pretty well, and guys like Weaver and Williams are also just good players that fill a need.
