The Minnesota Wild just LEVELED UP…
The Minnesota Wild have leveled up as the Quinn Hughes era has begun in Minnesota and they are continuing to dominate every team in their path. In this video, we’re going to talk about the key contributors for the Wild this season and talk about a rookie who is making a name for himself. But before we dive into all that, we just want to stay around the road for 19,000 subscribers here on the channel. So, if you want to stay up to date on everything around the NHL with the Minnesota Wild, we’re your home for it here on YouTube. So, make sure down below, hit that subscribe button. It is completely free. But with that said, the Minnesota Wild are having one heck of a season. And a lot of these players are really stepping up to the plate. And now with Quinn Hughes being shipped over uh from Vancouver to Minnesota, this team is continued to roll and steamroll everybody in their path. And since November, we see from this Twitter user, they have been so dominant. Uh, as we take a look here, uh, since November the 1st, the Colorado Avalanche do have the best record with 171 and three and 37 points. But the Minnesota Wild are closely behind them with 17 wins, three losses, two overtime losses, 36 points, just one point behind them. Then if you look further down, Dallas is just one point uh below them. All these teams all in the same division, all five points clear of the next team, which is the Islanders since November. And the Central is just is just been crazy this year. A lot of the top talent has taken their way to this division. Obviously, you see uh Nathan McKennon, uh Miko Ranton before, you know, he was with the Avalanche, now he’s with the Stars, same division. And now Quinn Hughes, Caprosoft, all these players are in the same division. And there are some elite company. Uh you know, these teams are definitely three favorites to make it to the Stanley Cup final this year. They’re all so far in the same division this season. And if we just take a look at those standings, which we see here, uh, the Avalanche are currently in first in the Central Division. And then it’s Dallas Stars. And just four points behind is the Minnesota Wild. And they are almost 10 points clear of the next competition, which is the Utah Mammoth, which is just absolutely disgusting. But, uh, something else to take note here is the Minnesota Wild are 2 and 0 in the Quinn Hughes era. So far, Quinn Hughes has a goal and an assist under his belt. Two points in two games uh for the defenseman. Uh great trade for Minnesota. I think this is what they needed to, you know, had that extra push and get to uh where they are right now and try to move up the ranks amongst the Central Division. And this this team is definitely going to be one of the favorites going into the playoffs now, especially uh with adding a name like Quinn Hughes. And one thing I didn’t note when we looked at the stats right now the Minnesota Wilds are on a fivegame win streak. Two of those wins coming in the Quinn Hughes era and it doesn’t look like there’s any signs of stopping yet because they’re playing against the Columbus Blue Jackets next. And I mean, you know, don’t want to disrespect the Columbus Blue Jackets, but that should definitely be a win game for the Minnesota Wild coming off a shutout against the Washington Capitals just the other night. And as we take a look at some of the key contributors, obviously Carrill Cap Caprosoft is going to be one of the best uh player, well is the best player on this team in amongst the forward group. I know Matt Baldy is putting his name up there as well right now, but you know, Kappersoft coming off that big contract uh ex extension and you know that’s you know a lot of people were saying is he worth that amount amount amount of money and he’s definitely proving it this season with now being the sole leader for power play goals in the Minnesota Wilds history with 70 so far on the season. One being his last one being assisted by no other than Quinn Hughes. And that’s one thing I did want to note here is that getting Quinn Hughes dramatically increases the power play with having such a great quarterback back there. Now with Quinn Hughes who has orchestrated power plays his entire career and we see the benefits of that just two games in with you know him setting up a feed to Capersoft here to get break the franchise record for power play goals. So great to see that happening when you have such a a great goal scorer on the power play and such a great guy to orchestrate that it’s only going to create great success. And I think as this goes on, we’re going to see them develop into one of the best power plays in the NHL, if not if they aren’t already. And if we just want to take a look at Capersoft stats so far this season, as we look here, uh he does have 38 points on the season so far, 21 goals, 17 assists. This guy’s an allaround uh offensive machine. He’s a great playmaker. He’s a great dangler. He’s a great goal scorer. He can anything on the offensive side of the ice. Kill Kappersoft is going to get it done. There is no doubt about that. Uh great to see uh this guy. And obviously, like I alluded to, Matt Baldy tied with him in points right now. Another all-around guy. 19 goals, 19 assists. This top line has just been so dominant all season for this team and you just love to see it uh so far this season. But I do want to switch gears into the goalending right now because the goalending is definitely winning them a lot of games this season. As we take a look, the Minnesota Wild now lead the NHL with seven shutout victories this season. And they say per NHL stats that Minnesota is Minnesota’s highest single season shutout total since posting eight in 2015 2016. So through the whole season in 2015 2016 they had eight total shutouts. They’re at seven already this season. We’re not even halfway through the season so far. So, it looks like they’re going to shatter this record uh this season. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get up, you know, to the double digits. I would say even up to the mid double digits, which is how good these goenders have been playing. If we take a look, Philip Gustoson, the Gusb has been dominant in the crease this this season. 20 or in 22 starts he has 11 wins, eight losses, three overtime losses with a 912 save percentage and three of those shutouts out of the seven has goals against his only 55 which is great as well posting a 2.5 goals against average. But look at Jesper Walstead the do the the tandem is just rocking here in Minnesota. He has nine wins in in 12 starts with only one loss, two overtime losses. He has a 937 save percentage and his goals against average is 1.95 with four of those seven shutouts. So they’re really riding the tandem here this season in Minnesota and is definitely working out. We’re seeing a lot of these teams take that system now while having two good goalenders. And so you’re not going into the playoffs with a goalender who, you know, is fatigued and I it’s working out here. You see Wal set stepping up to the plate this season having a great uh time in net and you know the numbers are a bit higher for Wallet because he has had less starts but you know this point in the season having a 917 for Gusb is a great season is it is a great stat to have and I think this is a guy who if he continues the path he’s on he will be up uh this season for the Bezna. I think he will definitely be a candidate. Uh I I know it is early to judge that right now, but if Minnesota keeps rolling and playing the way that they are and he keeps posting the numbers he is, he’s definitely going to be in that conversation, which is what you want to hear if you are a Minnesota Wild fan. Uh I think it’s great. I think one of the key contri contri contributions that this team has had is not the offense, it’s not the defense, is definitely the goalending. Posting those seven shutouts is a lot so far to to have so far this season. uh which is just great to see uh for Minnesota and just great you know heading into the playoffs because in the playoffs it’s definitely when those shutouts matter and if they can continue to roll and continue to boost those numbers and continue to just absorb all the pucks coming to the net it’s going to be a good look for uh the Minnesota Wild going forward and but I do want to switch gears again to a rookie who is shining this season uh in Minnesota and that’s Denila Yurof he is in his last game against Washington he won 10 of his 11 faceoffs taken at 90% on the night. Uh this is the highest single game faceoff percentage among NHL rookies this season with a minimum of 10 faceoffs while also posting a careerhigh in points with one goal to assess for three points in his last game against the Capitals. And it kind of seems like right now Denila Eurovv has arrived. Uh this is a guy who we’ve followed uh if you’re a Minnesota Wild fan for a long time. Ever since he was drafted and ever since his time in Russia coming making his first uh his first season in the NHL this year and you know he’s been finding his footing in the league so far and it seems like he’s very well adjusted now and he knows the role he needs to play for this Wild team. playing on that second line is definitely uh great for this kid. And like I said, three goals uh in his last game, but looking at his season stats in 27 games, he does have 11 points. Like I said, whenever you’re a young rookie, especially, you know, a lower first round prospect or even a higher end second round prospect. When you get your first touches in the NHL, you know, it’s going to take some time to readjust. Even some of the top picks, it takes time for them to readjust. So having a guy here in Eurovv who’s now fully adjusted. He has that big game. There’s a lot of momentum rolling for this kid. I think he’s only going to pick it up from here. And uh I think this guy, if you can can get 30 points out of this guy at the end of the season, even 35, I think you take that. And I think it’s a great first season for this kid. So uh I I’m I’m a big fan of Yurov and I think he’s uh going to continue to be a great uh contributor for this team on both ends of the ice. 200 foot player. uh four years to come here for the Minnesota Wild. Uh and like I said, I do have his stats pulled up here and just to let’s just fact check it here. Yes, he was uh in the the 24th overall pick back in 2022 uh in the first round for the Minnesota Wild, which I was right, he was a you know, one of the late round picks in that first round in that draft back in 2022. Uh and uh if we just take a look here at the injury list for the Minnesota Wild, this is where it all comes down to. Uh you know, they’ve been dealing with a lot of injuries, but it hasn’t happened for them at all. They are still on that fivegame win streak. They’re still proving to be one of the best teams in the NHL. But if we take a look at here, a lot of players are due to come back soon like Marcus Johansson, Zack Pagosian, both only having one game still to miss. Jonas Broaddin still only having one game left to miss. Then when we get to Jake Middleton, he still has three games left before he comes back. Matt Zugerella has two games back. Ziggurella has two games before he comes back, which is a going to be a big bolt for this line jolt to this lineup once he does come back. Vine Estrosa only one game till he lean and come back too. So a lot of players returning very soon for this Minnesota Wild team with a big name player in Zukarella coming back uh very soon in just two games. But, uh, as we look here at the Minnesota Wild this season, I mean, there’s no doubt that they have improved dramatically with the Quinn Hughes signing and, you know, they were already on a three-game win streak before they acquired him. They go out, get him two more wins, adding that win streak up to five now, and it’s only going to keep going from here. They they finally have that quarterback of the offense that they’ve been looking for for years in Quinn Hughes. And I mean, if you’re looking at, if you ask me right now, I think these guys may be one of the favorites to win the Stanley Cup. I kind of I really want to see them get to that Stanley Cup final and have a chance for it because Minnesota’s always been a team who’s always been in the mix. They’ve always been in the playoffs, but they can’t get past that hurdle. And I think adding Quinn Hughes, this is the year that they will get past that hurdle. More than the assist in the game against the Capitals, Minnesota lost a D man early in the game, didn't matter, Quinn played 29:33 to ensure a stable defense for the remainder of the game.
