Shutout Win Over Commanders & Sunday Night Football Win Against Cowboys | The Voyage, Episode 7
Nothing else matters right now where we’re at as a football team, as an organization. >> Hey boys, now we send a statement. Be grateful for the opportunity tonight, fellas. Be grateful for the opportunity. >> I did it tonight. All right. Uh overall, um absolutely a a very disappointing tough day. >> We’ve just got to try to find a way regardless of the different guys stepping in at different positions. There’s a standard that that we have not met. >> HEAVES IT UP. OH NO. ERNEST JONES HOUSE. It’s part of what’s made us have success around here and we’re not doing that right now. >> Losing streak going to hit four games for the Vikings. Barring something late here, they’re going to be shut out for the first time in almost two decades. >> I think it’s just a matter of adjusting to what is required to win throughout the course of a season, but even in the midst of where we’re at right now, which is not even remotely acceptable. Uh still finding a way to uh to press onward. >> Let’s talk about what it’s going to take to win the game. When I see this game, we’re back home. Uh, we need to play well at home. Nothing else matters right now where we’re at as a football team, as an organization, home game against a team that is just like us, willing to scratch and claw and do everything in their power to win a game. Done are the days of I had 51 really good snaps, but those two I would love to have back or I didn’t trust my fundamentals and technique in that moment. Trust yourself and each other. All right, I said this in the spring. There’s two components to trust. Character, which I know we have in this room. All right, I’ve seen it. I know it’s there. I know we’re going to go out today, tomorrow, and Friday, and we’re going to work. All right, we’re going to work. And we’re going to pack all that up with us going to US Bank on Sunday, uh, with the character required through these very difficult circumstances and times that we’re in. Call it what it is. All right, but the second part of that is competence. All right. And we have a competent room, but you need to demonstrate competence on a second to second, minute-to-minute basis. Once the game gets started, one play at a time, do your job, but it starts well before that. Let’s get that feeling again in the locker room. Let’s get it. We’re all in way, way overdue for that feeling. >> Bring our own energy today, fellas. Let’s have fun today. Let’s do what we do. >> But there is a hell of a lot of work to be done. There’s a hell of a lot of focus to maintain always >> and there is a ton of trust, all right, to maintain with our character and the competency of this room. Both things are visual to me. It’s evident. It’s there. Total commitment right now will equal an unbelievable opportunity for us to look back on this moment in the future and know what we’re all about and what we say we’re all about and that we’ve been about that life when it mattered the most for each other. >> Tough season for the Washington Commanders and Minnesota Vikings. >> These two teams have said they still feel a desire to finish out this season strong. Vikings win the toss and elect to take the football. I think that’s coach O’Connell trying to say, “Hey, we need to get out fast, score some points.” So, here we go. McCarthy down the seat. AND WHAT A DRIVE FOR JJ AND THE MINNESOTA VIKINGS. JOSH OLIVER, the touchdown. Good job, JJ. You see JJ McCarthy ultimately being really calm. I liked that. >> McCarthy under some pressure. He moves the chains with a scramble run. >> I like to see him trying not to do too much but to make the good passes. I don’t know what he was saying in his own brain, but he calm down. So to see a calm JJ McCarthy kind of command the offense. I’m impressed to see JJ McCarthy kind of be the man in the arena. >> Third down. McCarthy under center. Hands it to Mason. sprints to the left, to the five, TO THE END ZONE. TOUCHDOWN, Jordan Mason with his six rushing touchdown this year. >> Great try. I know you’re ON 0. >> 0. That was a hell of a try. >> Going to get a FOURMAN RUSH. IT’S BATTED INTO THE AIR AND ANDREW Van Ginkle gets the pick. >> We took the ball away. It’s one of the things we didn’t couldn’t do last week. Um we can get as many shots as we want, but we need to take the ball away and that’s for us to get good opportunities and give us that spark. >> Finally. >> Finally. Did you just decide you wanted to actually catch this one or >> Mariota? He’s going to throw to the left. INTERCEPTED BY HARRISON SMITH AND THE HITMAN turns it up to the 40. That is the 38th interception in Harrison Smith’s storyried career. >> Hey, WHAT YOU WANT TO SAY? HE WAS LOOKING FOR HIM. I RAN ON OTHER SIDE. >> YOU ran outside. >> That’s Oscar right there. COME ON, MAN. >> YEAH. >> YEAH. TWO. >> SO, when the defense can get to those takeaways again, that also inspires the offense on the other side. >> McCarthy back to pass. Looking left. He’ll throw right. CAUGHT OLIVER. THREE, TWO, ONE. TOUCHDOWN. A TWO TOUCHDOWN SUNDAY FOR JOSH OLIVER. >> We get this opportunity um to make sure that we are uh you know proving some growth that through adversity. I think it’s the best grounds to have that growth happen. >> Hey boys, now we see the statement. But you still have to go do it and you still have to have a team that stays together. >> Vikings blitz. Cast gets picked up, but guess who didn’t? Eric Wilson. Eric Wilson with the sack on Marcus Mariota. Five and a half this year for Eric Wilson. >> Quick strike. Hawinson stays on his feet. Touchdown. That might be an early fourth quarter dagger. other way. Nice job, TJ. >> It was good to win a game. We needed to win a football game and the guys came out and did that. >> Yeah. Get the camera on him. Another one. >> Shout out to the guys for being able to bounce back and uh you know, to get that taste out of my mouth um with this with this shut out was it was great. Last time I had a shut out was 3-0. So this one felt a little bit better. >> When in doubt, we get to work every single week towards a 60-minute opportunity regardless of anything that’s transpired before or as I told him, anything that will transpire from here. >> GREAT JOB, FELLAS. THAT’S WHAT IT’S GOT TO LOOK LIKE. THAT’S WHAT IT’S GOT TO FEEL LIKE. AND THAT started on Wednesday and Thursday this week. So let’s take that next week, practice meetings, the whole thing, and come out HUNGRY TO GO DO IT AGAIN 3. 1 2 3. The truest measure of where we are at right now is going to be consistency being our test and we’re playing a good football team. We’ve got to be able to do what we did the other day. All right, we know what it’s got to look like. We’ve shown we can do it. We’ve shown what the formula is because you guys are about what you’re about from a standpoint of what you have built here. All right, it is just an opportunity to go 1 and0 this week. Nothing more, nothing less. This is a business trip. All right, national TV Sunday Night Football. All right. We are going there to win a football game and then what do we do? We celebrate it and then we worry about what’s next. Next as a family all together every moment of our time together. >> I don’t care who you are. When this is your dream to play in the NFL, it’s going to be hard time. Let’s go. Being physical all day today. All right. All day. Physicality today. The pressure to make the playoffs is always there, but when you get to the point where it’s lost, you have to have leadership. >> Like you mean like everything on the LINE RIGHT NOW, MAN. PASS, MAN. HEY, it’s Sunday night. Ain’t a lot to be said. The B say it all. Be grateful for the opportunity tonight, fellas. Be grateful for the opportunity. You get a chance to put this helmet on and strap this up and go ONE V ONE AGAINST SOMEBODY WHO DON’T with you. everything you got 60 minutes and however long you take going back with this dog. >> Disappointing year. They’ve won five games. Their playoff hopes are done. But I think these last four games are very important for the Vikings. >> No question. And JJ McCarthy in particular, he’s just 22 years old. He’s only played in seven games. He’s coming off his best game of his career, but he’s still trying to prove to the people in Minnesota that he is the answer there. And a win tonight in Dallas would go a long way towards proving exactly that. >> First throw of the night is deflected in banged and intercepted to McCarthy tipped it trying to knock it back down but it ricochets to the hands I believe Quinnon Williams. >> Well well here we go >> after the McCarthy pick. Revan span forward in motion to the right hand off Javvante Williams to the right side. Javvante Williams to the end zone. gets a touchdown for the Dallas Cowboys. >> There is that relief that there isn’t that pressure. What can they do still in the light of not having playoffs to look forward to, but to know that you can still go out there and play well? >> McCarthy play action to Jordan Mason. Rolls out to the left, throws to the end zone, AND TOUCHDOWN JJ MCCARTHY. Great job. Great job. >> The game drifts, fires it down field, breaking open is Anderson. JORDAN ANDERSON TO THE THREE YD LINE. in front of you up the keeper the walk in. And that faked out everybody at AT&T Stadium >> and JJ McCarthy is getting loose. Totally. >> Can you feel it? I mean, he’s just getting loose. I think it started to happen for him last week. He has the the bad play early. The ball gets tipped. He doesn’t get down. Comes back, throws a nice touchdown that way, and hits a bomb there. He’s getting loose. >> We didn’t make our ultimate goal, which is the Super Bowl. And we didn’t make our second goal, which is the playoff. So, what is our goal now? Well, to get better as a team. >> McCarthy empty backfield, takes the snap. Bounces around in the pocket on fourth down. Throws right and caught. COLD BLOODED JAYLEN NAYLOR. McCarthy puts Addison in motion to the right. HAND OFF CJ HAM UP THE MIDDLE. TOUCHDOWN. NOBODY SAW IT COMING. DJ HAM WITH HIS FIRST touchdown this year. >> I need to bring back television. It’s probably going to be real bad. Kids are going to love that one. >> Third and four. Prescott stepping up in trouble. Bernard is there along with Van Ginkle. And the edges come to the middle for a sack. And it’s going to be a 59 yd field goal attempt coming up >> to give the Cowboys the lead early in the fourth quarter. Snap spot. Aubrey line drive. Plenty of leg. Holy cow. He missed it again. Harpy to the end zone. Touchdown Jaylen Naylor and the short field with the missed field goal and Minnesota walks it down. Five plays, 51 yds and the Vikings lead by seven. Yeah. >> Okay. >> 53 yd try by Will Riker to win the game. Snap spot. Riker right footed kick is good. WHERE there’s a will, there’s a win. Hey. Hey. >> Tell them to put that on hard knock. >> Yeah, put that on hard knock. as a head coach when you get through uh some rough patches and you see what it could be like to be your truest form as a team, what you envisioned as a football team. But to get there, all right, to get there, we’ve had to endure when it comes to thinking about what this game really means to you. Thinking about what’s important to you about being a great teammate, what being a Minnesota Viking is all about. And you don’t do what you’ve done over these last two weeks at this point in the year without that. All right, we got a lot of ball left. soak it up because you you put too much work in. The noise is loud sometimes, but all you guys do is continue to go back to work. And it matters. Everything matters. The way you work, the way you persevere through these games. I mean, I don’t know if I’ve been more proud at a point in time of being the head coach here just because of what this really means and your guys commitment to staying the course.

Justin jefferson hope yall go home with the w.πππππ
I hope we can keep this win streak going if we can keep this win streak going maybe just maybe we'll end off on a good note
So happy JJ got his confidence him and Jets gonna get it figured out soon. Feelin a big game out of 18 Sunday
Vikings need to get an elite RB to help Jefferson and the passing game. Safeties would have to cheat up to the line instead of automatically doubling Jefferson every play.

Produce more content a little faster that would be my only recommendation it seems like it takes 2 years just for one of these to come out
Remember folks, This league is in the same entertainment business as WWE, But you cant bet on WWE.
I have so much respect for those who give all to see the team win. No barking and sitting back and watching. Getting out there with the guys and giving them the opportunity to shine. Not a selfish bone. Some unfortunate decisions by some have taken a superbowl team and crushed it so a QB who should have just retired instead of cursing our teams dream of a great season. These guys deserve praise and support. They will always be my team.
Oliver is a UNIT, love the heavy personnel sets and seam shots

I love that the Brosmer pick happened right in front of KOC. I think that really finally settled into his brain that he's gotta stop running on 3rd, 4th & short every single time. He's gotta let McCarthy play his game & not f*ck with his mechanics in season. If you play to McCarthys strengths you're going to make a few Superbowl appearances & get some wins. I wouldn't trade that kid for anyone. We got the guy. Please figure it out & work with him for the love of God.

Great speech by Mettellus
ight, im done being sour for the disappointment this team brought me this season, maybe I shouldn't have had way too high hopes for a team with a QB who is 22 years old and havent played a single snap in the NFL . Regardless, I just want to see 9 grow and build confidence so that we have something to build off heading into off season and next year but it seems like he is already heading in that direction and can't wait to see how he finishes the szn in these last 3 games. If he beats both the Lions and the Packers who absolutely needs the W for their playoff runs, I am all in on this kid. SKOLLLL
Let's go JJ!!! Franchise QB!!!

It's been a tough season, but I'm still locked in. I'm still rooting for JJ, Jettas, KOC, and the boys. I want to see these guys win. In the past, I would've checked out by now, but it's clear that these guys still have the fire in them. SKOL!
